This thing has gone from unloved and dumped at a used car lot to looking like it would sell for top dollar on BaT. That proper Speed Yellow looks amazing!
Paint looks great!! However, I think the original red tail brake lights would look better than the clear ones. More stock look that matches that beautiful paint.
GTI owner here, big props to you for not caving to the peer pressure and keeping the rear wiper. Everybody and their mother tells me I should delete mine but I keep it for the exact same reason you kept yours. I actually find it to be pretty useful!
My 996 also retains its rear wiper. I’ve not yet found it useful but equally I hardly notice it. The key thing is not to remove the arm unless you know what you’re doing. The number of 996s with a deep scratch on the left rear pillar is distressing.
13:57 I love it. It looks so much better with the new paint! Quite a transformation. Please tell me those tinted rear lights are on your radar though… 😂
@@matt13ross It's quite worrying how much effort and money the previous owner spent on this car to make it look and run so bad, they must have had money because the car and all the "mods" are not cheap , just incredibly poor taste. I'd love to know what they did with the OEM rear lights, probably binned them going by the decisions they made on the rest of the car.
Matt, use a light rubbing compound to clean the rubber trim. It removes the film and restores it perfectly. Then Gummi Pflege Stift to treat the rubber.
It makes me really happy seeing all the progress you have done to this Porsche. I have done the same on a two door Opel Ascona 2.0L. The feeling of saving and completing something who was left to rust is priceless. Greetings from Greece.
Door handle- Could there be a grounding issue from the button to the door maybe? Or from latch to window regulator? New parts wouldn't fix that issue if it was the cause.
Congrats, holy moly, that made a huge change.. Bye bye blackbird.... Yes, stylish not to spatter shade of yellow and black parts all over.. This colour begin to make sence! Even the blacked backlights seems to come together with the car, without shouting afterpart..
I’m getting excited for you. I imagined it would have been harder putting the car back together. It’s good to see how well you did. I bet it will be a big relief when you sort out the window regulator issue. The paint really has made a nice improvement I hope your enjoying the car much more.
Looks great! Looks like you are missing the black, rubber gasket that goes under the front Porsche crest. They are readily available and really finish it off.
Had to turn the brightness down on my monitor, was like the sun coming up when the car was revealed, lol😀. Seriously, the car looks awesome , the paint has made a hell of a difference. Look forward to the next phase, I can see lowering and interior coming up soon. Happy for you mate!
I should point out that this job wasn’t facing the worst horror: corrosion everywhere that needed fixing before you could even think of repainting. Lovely job!! Not changing the colour is a smart move. Less to show off the change.
Congratulations! The extra disassembly prep you did really made the re-paint not look like a re-paint. Needs a gloss black turbo badge on the back. Then you just need to lower it and straight pipe it lol Leaving the rear wiper as the right choice. Who cares about the passenger window at this point. 😅 I'm sure you feel proud, you should.
I'm not yellow fan but this looks great my dude. The algorithm suggested your channel months ago from the first video when you bought. Subscribed immediately. Been loving the build. Congrats bro. This car looks amazing.
yeah when my dad called me into his shop telling me bout learning to use the spray gun.. what I really learned that day was how to wrestle a tape roll and how to sand lol
Fantastic! Yellow isn't my preference, but I definitely would have redone it in the original color like you did. Same when it came to my Arctic Silver 987.2 CS.
Bro... you're killing me with the front Porsche emblem. Please purchase the rubber gasket for back of the emblem, it seals out moisture and gives it a proper finished look. LOOKING GOOD MY MAN!
You did everything right! When I saw the grey 996, my fingers were poised to pounce upon the keyboard. LOL Good for you! Now you have a great looking 996TT!!
Nice work! Def recommend getting some ceramic coating on that fresh paint...I use G-technic on my vehicles, you'll be glad you did every time you wash the car!

Extremely satisfying video Matt. Congrats so far. Now please go the extra mile and give the seats some love as well. Colour lock has amazing products which help to get the leather back to as good as new condition and get rid of that greasy shine. 1) Clean of grease and dirt 2) Dye the faded and worn areas and 3) Close off with conditioning and sealing the leather and be left with a nice matt (..) finish. As long as there are no rips in the leather the result will amaze you and will be well worth your time spent. And as others suggestes, the tails should be swapped for the OEM white-red. Personally I’d prefer the OEM Turbo wheels in silver as well but that is really a minor detail.
Looks terrific. I was after a Speed a yellow 997 myself. I ended up in a Yellow 997, not speed yellow, it I love it all the same. Also wish I had a rear wiper for no other reason than it’s cool. Keep it!
I'm surprised they got that paint to hold out against that primer in as little coats as they did. Yellow DOES NOT cover 😤😤😤😡 Color is great! You're doing the lords work with this 911T 💪🏾💪🏾
The car is looking amazing! Getting down to the nitty gritty. There is supposed to be a gasket between the front emblem an hood. An you are also missing the turbo badge on the rear decklid, if you wanted it.
The hood crest is missing a rubber gasket. Once you have it on, you will not need double sided tape. Also, you need to adjust the headlight bracket so the headlight sits flushed with the fender. Looking awesome!
For the front windshield trim, I thought that you have to remove the glass to remove and reinstall it. You didn't need to do that. Did you use a factory seal or is that some aftermarket part or something else.
Well done Matt, the car looks stunning and now visually reflects all your efforts. Though it would have looked incredible in Crayon. That thumbnail had me for a second. 😉 Cheers from New Zealand.
about damm time! Looks great.. Need to get oem tail lights and silver wheels. The original turbo wheels are fire. Black wheels just make it look like black holes.
Hot AF ! Well done Matt. Should be very happy and proud to get to this stage especially after such a long time. Hopefully you can get it on the road and buttoned up so you can enjoy it soon. Oh and looking back every time you park it 😂 Good job man.
The previous owner has to be impressed. That car still has a lot of work left but, it's definitely headed in the right direction now..Looks good and Now is road worthy. Good Job!!!..👍🏽🏁
This thing has gone from unloved and dumped at a used car lot to looking like it would sell for top dollar on BaT. That proper Speed Yellow looks amazing!
Thank you for the kind words!
What year is it? Great job!
This car could not be any other color. The color is this car's personality. 👍
Paint looks great!! However, I think the original red tail brake lights would look better than the clear ones. More stock look that matches that beautiful paint.
Good point. The paint looks so dam good and OEM now. A proper OEM tail light would look so clean.
Tail lights being addressed in the future, just some other things need fixing first!
It always makes me happy, seeing people rescuing "old" cars. Greetings from Germany
I need to restore my E36 and do a video series on the with the 996 in the background lol ;)
Yes!
GTI owner here, big props to you for not caving to the peer pressure and keeping the rear wiper. Everybody and their mother tells me I should delete mine but I keep it for the exact same reason you kept yours. I actually find it to be pretty useful!
Yup, and this is the closest thing I have to a DD so I'm keeping the wiper!
My 996 also retains its rear wiper. I’ve not yet found it useful but equally I hardly notice it.

🙏🏻
Def on the radar, just many other fixes needed first!
I saw the chalk grey thumbnail and made me super happy then saw it was yellow 😢 looks good overall man congrats
It's looking really good now, the all-yellow side intakes look so much better. Just needs OEM tail lights and (controversial) OEM Turbo wheels....
The wheels he has look really good but I think for the level of class for the car and era, they should be powder coated a dark/gunmetal gray
Tails coming, wheel color change is possible...
These videos keep getting better and better in production and content! Keep up the good work!
Much appreciated!
I did the prep work on my old e36, props to these guys man. It’s so time consuming to make sure every inch is straight, smooth, and ready for paint.
Way to much work for me lol
Well done, this was a milestone for your build. Top job Mat.
What a difference just the mirrors make being yellow but now the roof and the air intakes ...looks fantastic
Agreed!

Those "roof rack" covers or whatever you called them, are actually called "ditch moulding"
Looks epic bro! I'm glad you kept it yellow! The silver thumbnail had me like NOOOOO!!

This build is very fascinating to me. Just subscribed
Thanks for the sub! Check out the 997 too.

Yup, interior and suspension coming!
You couldn't be more happy after so many work done on the "lemon". Great job Matt!
Epic transformation! Keep up the hard work - it’s great to see you progress with this car.
I should point out that this job wasn’t facing the worst horror: corrosion everywhere that needed fixing before you could even think of repainting.

Thanks!
Wow too kind, thanks a bunch!!

Those black wheels and wet tires really pop now!
I thought so too!
that paint job makes all the difference. Probably one of most value-add things you've done so far!
I love the transformation of your Porsche mate. 👊🏻👊🏻
I'm glad you had the long time lapse of the prep that went into the paint job, because that's like 80% of a good paint job. Looks Great!
yeah when my dad called me into his shop telling me bout learning to use the spray gun.. what I really learned that day was how to wrestle a tape roll and how to sand lol
That baby looks show room ready! Love the side vents without the middle pieces. That yellow just pops!
attaboy! the mismatched paint was killin me. she's lookin fine now!
I sincerely hope the channel takes off for you, this 911 build is worth watching!
I hope so too!
Matt, you should be proud of yourself with all you had done prior to it being painted. Enjoy your ride homie, it’s well deserved.
The transformation is stunning. Great job. The front emblem has a proper gasket.
Ah, now I know about the gasket. A bunch of people commented this lol.

wasn't the original color black? Would also have done it yellow, looks very nice
Nope, it's always been yellow.

Car looks great well done. 996s and 996 turbos look great when they have their bodywork sorted.
From hooptie to concours.
This puppy deserves Bilstein or Kw coilovers and a nice exhaust now. Then, garage queen. 👑
Coming!
looks great, glad you stuck with speed yellow!

Lots more!
Wow I didn't realize how much I hated that black until it was gone. Like this distain I felt looking at this car just lifted haha. So much better.
Well done Matt! The paint looks fantastic! Taking off the trim was very wise.
Absolutely agree with the decision to get rid of the black part in the turbo intakes, car looks great!
the tailight tint better be gone in the next reveal.
Been waiting on the removal lol

What an incredible transformation. Great pain job! Is that the original color?
Yup!
Looks perfect. 🔥💯.Hope you wrapped it in protective film.
Possibly in the future.
Love the paint. Personally I don't like the wing and would go for a duck tail type, but each to their own really
I actually love the wing now, and it matches the front bumper.
The shine of that paint ❤

I didn’t remove the whole trim. The trim on my car is 2 pieces. I just removed the outer piece. Idk if it’s factory or not.

Glad you kept the same color. Yellow really pops on the 996. Plus it was on the cover of Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed for ps1 lol
