Instead of just removing the tint from the taillights, why not upgrade them to LEDs. Good sets are only a few hundred bucks and would make a huge difference in the appearance and performance of the lights

My Turbo came with LEDs. I wasn't sure about them but they sure function much better than stock. I satisfied. 😉👍🏼

Love that you are putting oem parts back on. Bad ass man ! Once she’s back up to spec , then it’s time to add POWAH! I would just do a nice tune with exhaust for starters. The Porsche Gods are smiling today! keep the skirts black looks better.

The black skirts really tie into the black wheels. I think it looks better than the painted skirts
I agree. Your 996 looks incredible. When the camera catches the light properly, you get to see the true color of the yellow paint and it’s beautiful. The black wheels, tires and side skirts really compliment it. I can tell you’re proud of it and you should be.
1:54 If a drill bit drives you nuts, then it is in fact a socket, not a drill bit.
Should have two fans on the rear deck lid as well as a gasket for your stock airbox, also that red filter from fab speed should fit in the oem box

Suggestion- make the window tint uniform, cheap fix and will make it look a lot more clean and OEM+
I do want to remove the rear side windows. Eventually will get new all around.

Matt, the Porsche looks Sick. I agree … the black side skirts pulled it together. The yellow side skirts were overwhelming. Too much yellow. Now it’s just right.
Matt, source some oem twist wheels hollow spoke and some coilovers , Factory taillights and you will be money imo

Its come such a long way. Really looking forward to seeing it finished up with proper tails etc. IMO a more OEM, or silver wheel would go a very long way on bringing the look together. Nicely done!
Every time I look at the car I'm leaning towards making the wheels silver now haha.
Also pro tip: before you crack the new sill covers (skirts or whatever) with the jack, get jack pads or buy some hockey pucks and 3D-print the simple holders to screw in the pucks.

Hi Matt, car looks great now, really enjoy the videos. My neighbour has also bought a seriously neglected 996 Turbo, I’m going to get involved in that restoration soon so your videos will help in that adventure.
Before I forget, just a recomendation. Get Paint protection film up front AND ceramic coating on the rear. Since the paint is new, this will make it last for many years and keep the brand new look.
Been enjoying the Restauration since the beginning and always wondered whether the taillights where rapped black or swapped, really prefer the red look personally 👍

Looking better and better. You've made a bunch of great calls on the "resto" side of restomod. Keep going by refurbishing the calipers (red) and dumping the black wheels.

You went from having a car you could be comfortable offroading with to a stone chip free garage queen 😊 seriously though very nice, can't wait to see the exhaust and coilovers installs. They also make a nice headlight cover that you can color match where the headlights look more 993ish.

Matt you might want to ceramic coat the car. It’s easy to do, as you probably already know. Will make easier to keep clean.

You’ve done great with your car. It looks way better with the gt2 front bumper cover and rear deck/wing. My exterior is set-up the same, plus gt2 side skirts from Precision Porsche. But mine is Guards Red over Savannah Beige. These are easy cars to fall in love with. And those stock air boxes are hard to find. Ask me how I know ;) Great vids!

@@matt13ross it looks like the cover under the trunk is GT2 specifik, but the tube 996 110 141 71 looks like to be the same on the Turbo. But I can not se in the video if you have the ring that connects the tube to the cover, it can be that you also need 996 512 334 00/01 wich it GT2 specific.

Coming along nicely! Regarding your passenger power window issue, have you tried replacing the relay? If the car uses 2 relays (1 for each door) try swapping to see if the problem follows the relay. Seems you have replaced everything else in the chain, but thought the relay could have intermittent failure.

When you work on the tail lights, I'd love to see if you can find a way to fix the cracks in them that plague the 996 cars. They are stress crack that "appear" on the top of the lenses over time and I have them too.
I don’t think there is a fix.

Car looks awesome. Always look forward to the updates. Just a note on the Mavic Mini, props should always be replaced in pairs as they are balanced to each other. You did replace the pair since they were both damaged, but next time you crash it, remember that, lol.

Couldn't you use the fabspeed filter in the oem air box?
Stupid me thought they used a different filter, so I sold the Fabspeed with the filter as a combo.
