- In this video I ask the question. Why is the masters of the universe origins line taking so long to release new versions of original characters that people want.
We see new animation style versions of classic characters and we even have crossover lines with ninja turtles but what is taking them so long for classic characters like two bad and others?

Eighty-something figures in three years, five or so animals, six vehicles and three playsets... But Mattel hasn't gotten to my favorite figures yet so they must hate Origins?
They-have-to-spread-the-stuff-out-to-keep-you-interested...But-really-I-never-expected-to-see-as-much-as-we-have-to-be-honest.
One important figure for me would be Hurricane Hordak. I had him as a child and it was one of my favorites. Way cooler than Buzz Saw or normal Hordak.
I think they want to bring all those important figures at the end of the line, so we continue to buy stuff like the Filmation Origins or Turtles of Greyskull.
They know that if they finish the vintage figures in the origins line, the stuff they release after that won't sell at all.
Thats not true! If they finish the line of core figures (the missing 80th ones) - addon figures (200x Chars or Never done figures or figures already exist in the classics line) will always be sold. There are so many fans that will buy every sh*t Mattel do.
I feel the problem with Two-Bad is he's in the same boat as Grizzlor and Mossman; to do him properly he'd need to be a deluxe figure. We'd never see him in a "regular" wave, and if they want to properly represent him, he'd need to be an exclusive of some kind the same way those two were. Don't get me wrong; while I never had him as a kid, he's VERY high on my wish list, but I just don't see him as being practical in anything outside of a deluxe wave at best, or a Target/Walmart/Mattel Creations exclusive at worst (and as someone in the UK, that's an extra hurdle for me).
Ive been collecting origins and Masterverse and their Horde game is off on both, ive been dreaming of getting a complete horde and instead origins gets “turtles of greyskull” and Masterverse gets like 6 evil-lynns and 4 man-at-arms. My fingers are crossed one day we’ll get a two pack with Imp and Kowl.
Agree. They went crazy with the Snakemen, not enough Horde, and they're dragging their feet on remaining classic characters

I'd be really happy to see anything other than the wave I think 7 (Buzz Off, Stratos, Sorceress, Jitsu) in stores around me. It's been years of the same 4 figures since they order by assortment. One of my sons collects Origins, because he prefers the look of my vintage figures, and I always have to pay a premium online for just about anything other than new vehicles.
Hmmm..yes about that Two-Bad! Waiting forever for Extendar & Rio-Blast too!

Mattel has already said that the rest of the vintage characters will be coming out on Mattel Creations.
The reason why the Filmation line in going to retail is because it lets them put out the A list characters like He-man and Skeletor. The reason origins stopped moving is because they got down to the less well known characters and sales dropped off.
She-ra and Shadow Weaver are rumored for the Filmation line.
The reason Turtles of Greyskull is being pushed is because tmnt moves product.
Oh I for one can't wait for Shadow Weaver! Always loved that design!
I agree 100%. The Filmation line is set to release He-Man, Skeletor, Man at Arms, Teela, Beast man, Trap Jaw, and now Merman, and Stratos. Also She-Ra and shadow reaver as well as Bow I think.
Finally the TMNT line is selling due to the new movie. New movie means more fandom, and combine it with He-Man, it’s just good business.
Modulok , they would fly off the shelf.
Two-bad needs to be a deluxe figure with Tuvar and Badra and extra pieces to assemble two bad!!!!
I want Two-bad but we dont want to encourage deluxe figures unless necessary as they are sold at higher price points and make the line unaffordable.
That would be cool! It would just need an extra torso and upper half of legs plus the two separate figures. Wish they had the courage and creativity to do that.
The hardcore MOTU fanbase is not large enough for Mattel to compete the line with these characters at retail. Not enough will sell in order for them to make a profit. It’s pretty cool that they’re still going to try to get them out to our fandom through the website.
That 200x Evil-Seed looks awesome, and his collar makes him look a bit like Spawn.
From what I’ve seen, they don’t. It’s just that their not liking how the recent waves have been struggling on store shelves recently. Which is why their planning to release the remaining characters from the vintage line on Mattel Creations for the most part and release the Filmation cartoon themed figures on store shelves to spice up the line.
They want forty bucks for that one mossman,no one is gonna buy multiple forty dollar basic figures.

I say they should wait on crossovers until after the main classic characters are made in origins. There’s just so much they could do right now before going into crossovers lines.

I am just a fan trying to keep the enjoyment of my fandom alive. Mattel seems to not love the franchise as much as we do.
It's not racist to want certain characters white.😂 I'm full blooded White Mountain Apache and I want all my figures who were created white to stay white.😂 Imagine if they made He-Man Apache?😂 I'd pay good money to have that figure.😂 Edit: I forgot to say I do have my Mortal Kombat figure standing right beside my Samurai He-Man because in my living room they joined forces to take on samurai Skeletor and the dark side.😂
I'm in Tennessee, my store don't have MOTU anymore
They are releasing every vintage fig in Origins. Modulok, Cyclone, and the rock guys have been seen and some or all are on the Eternia box art and theyre also releasing Powers of Greyskull characters.
New Origins still hit Targets, although expect those to all be on Creations. I suggest you watch Toy Habits since theyll tell you exactly what is coming out and when.
Weapons packs dont sell. Retail wont carry them so Msttel wont make them. Ultimately retail dictates what gets made. Same for heads. Those are pegwarmers just waiting to get put out to warm.
Have some patience. It’s going to happen.

You really nailed it on the head. There's no excuse for not having Two-bad and Modulok. Plus what's the hold up on Sy-klone Rokkon already. Those new lines...Cartoon and Turtles 🐢 seem to be what were getting. I hope adleast we adleast get the figures they've shown. Plus Two-bad . I really do feel him and Sy-klone are needed bad. Modulok also.....And you are right he's perfect for Origins. I would love New Weapons and Accessory pks. If Neca can make them for lines like Gremlins, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm street etc. Then why can't Mattel give us options
I’m just thinking like a fan. I just ask the questions that I wonder as a fan that wants to complete a collection of MOTU that I grew up loving so much. Thank you for the great comments. I want all the classic characters in origins. I just don’t want them to be a pain to get.
@transformersofeternia3225 Agree 👍 💯 percent. We don't need a repeat of 2002-2003...Pump out all these great figures. Then flood the stores with Repaints. Put out the Snakemen and the line gets canceled. The rest of the line became Statues.
I would love to see the "red" version of Lizard Man, the one with glasses. :D

Check the design of it then look at Modulok. He'll be coming.

I’m not sure. I just googled a picture of Cthulhu toys and seen that picture to use as a reference for the video.
Origins collector here! Yes, they kinda killed the line with watering it and overdid the Snake Men.

My guess is that these crossover lines like wwe and now turtles did/will sell better then the origins line did so I expect more to continue in the future. I could see Mattel doing a power of grayskull /Jurassic park crossover line or a princess of power/my little pony crossover line. maybe even a motu/transformers crossover were they do a 1/1 scale vehicle/robot of an attack trac or spydor.
And I have also been saying that we have no POP characters except for 4 releases of She-Ra. She-Ra was a Power-con exclusive, then the regular release, then a reissue & she is currently being reissued for a 4th release. I want *FROSTA, MERMISTA, CASTASPELLA, SWEET BEE, FLUTTERINA & ENTRAPTA!* Mattel & MOTU have been pissing me off like crazy. I've never been so pissed off & frustrated trying to collect a toy line before. I hate toy collecting now. I just want to finish up & be done with it.
I agree. You make some very good points. If we, the fans had it our way we would have such a great collection of Motu. Wish Mattel loved this franchise as much as we do.
@@transformersofeternia Every time Mattel makes a new version of He-Man, Skeletor or Man-At-Arms, it could've been a character we don't have yet. They are wasting money on tooling & molds anyway so why not make characters they haven't made yet? It makes no sense.
We just got 5 new Man-At-Arms figures in the past year. 2 in Masterverse, deluxe Revelation & New Eternia. And 3 in Origins, Serpent Claw, Filmation & Turtles Of Grayskull. And Man-At-War is sure to be one of the first Revolution figures to be released. I don't even like Man-At-Arms that much. Why does Mattel think we want a million versions of Man-At-Arms? And they're not even much different from each other.
As much as it might not be a popular 2023 opinion the female figures dont sell well, Teela for eg is the only figure in the filmation line thats not sold out on preorder.
Mattel needs to pay money to DreamWorks to make princess a power figures. They need to pay money the DreamWorks anytime they use a cartoon character in the toy line.
They would need to pay money to DreamWorks to make any figures in the formation style. So the cartoon line was probably made with an agreement with DreamWorks. That will allow them to produce the figures. In limit the amount of royalties they would need to pay.
I don't think its so much hates motu but mattel doesn't like how there is a definite stopping point. As of today i think there are only 18 figures left in the vintage line so to pad the life of the line we got Rulers of the Sun, the cartoon collection, and the turtles crossover.
I blame the death of the line at retail on the poor distribution practices of Walmart and Target. There are 3 Walmarts within 30 min of where I live. Two have next to nothing but wave 7, snout spout, and leech. The third had wave 12 a few times, point dread, and enough moss man to stock the other two.
At the end of the day I feel bad for the foreign collectors and I hope mattels promise to complete the vintage line extends to the rest of vehicles/beasts and horde playsets.
I don’t collect the Snake Men faction, no sour grapes about it and I hope everyone who wanted them digs it
Hope a Masterverse Rio has a more retro look than the Classics head.

One of my gripes with Masterverse...lack of females in the New Eternia line.
I really do not need Weapons Pak… I have a box with a lot of weapons. I guess we need vehicles, animals and playsets and of course the final figures ✌🏻😉
I agree. Battle Ram would be a great vehicle but I fear it’s all gonna be Mattel creations or online only.

i heard that they lost the rights to make he man figures , is that true, i want Two Bad and Modulok in Origins and also the She Ra characters like Scorpia and Shadow Weaver and Bow and Kowl

@@futuramayeah I dont see how Mattel can loose the rights, they can license it out to other people to use but not loose it as they own the IP & invented it. Sounds like they just licensed out the movie rights to them, same as they did for the Barbie movie.
They fucked it all up! What they should have done is finish the Vintage Collection in 2024 and then introduced the Cartoon Collection in 2025 and then Turtles Of Grayskull for 2026.
They fucked up! It's over. All the MOTU fans have already dropped the Vintage line like a hot potato & moved on to the Filmation garbage & the Turtles crossover. Now we are doomed to deal with MattelCreations & the immediate sell outs. It's not gonna be fun. It going to be a chore to finish the line. All I care about is finishing the Vintage Collection & being done with it. I'm sick to death of toy collecting in the 2000s.
I've been saying the same thing. They are making all the 200x mistakes all over again. Killing the line with Snakemen & 50 million variants of He-Man & Skeletor.
I agree with you except for the snake men. I like them and hope to see more charachters like High priest Pythonas.
@@BoskoBuha99 I love the Snakemen too. I was pushing for them the whole time. And I'm always complaining that Masterverse doesn't have 1 single Snakeman yet. I'm just saying the Snakemen showed up in the 200x line & then the line ended. The Snakemen showed up in the Origins Vintage Collection & then the line ended at retail & got moved over to MattelCreations. Feels like history is repeating.
Actually I think fans are pretty divisive whe it comes to the abomination that is the MOTU TMNT crossover. The filmation seems to be getting more acceptance, but I don't really care about those, not a fan of the filmation look at all... and I've seen a lot of fans not really interested to buy the same characthers all over again.
You are definitely not in the toy biz. The casual crowd is not buying weapon and head packs. Those may do well on creations, but will peg warm at retail.

Jokes aside, I still want him. Hope he's the last one though as the design compared to who is left is the least interesting.
Sy-Klone and Extendar have already been shown. And I believe one of the Rock Warriors have as well. The blue one, Rokkon.
By my count, from the vintage line that HAVE NOT been seen yet are -
Two-Bad, Modulok, Rio Blast, Stonedar, Dragstor, Multi Bot, Gwildor, Blade, Blast-Attak, Saurod, Hurricane Hordak, Rotar, Twistoid, Tytus, Megator and Laser He Man And Laser Skeletor.
Including the 3 at the top, that leaves just 20 left. Take out variations of characters we already have, like Laser Lads and Hurricane, that's 17.
How many unique sculpts though? Some of these are pre existing parts or repaints. Not much to go!!
With all the Sun Man team done and dusted, hopefully we get these remaining lot soon! As much as I like that team, that we could have had 10 other vintage MOTU figures before them is a slight shame.

How about they have a new season on Netflix with a mass collection of characters so they kind of busy just relax orgins ain't going anywhere maybe the ones u want others dont
Imo, it seems mattel tend to prioritize the Masterverse line. They are right now doing the main Lords of Destruction (i thinks it's Evil Warriors for the US) and the Masters and since a POP is in the works right now, they are, perhaps, waiting for it to launch it. Or the lines are simply done because Netflix fucked it up. We will know it next year.
My son prefer the Masterverse because he find the figure better more beautiful, and honestly, i agree with him.
It'a not Mattel hating Origins...it's hating the fans and the fans love it!

We all let them doing it as we still keep buying there overpriced plastic that looks like, and gives us, nostalgic feeling.
MOTU is niche and people who want deep cut MOTU figures are even more niche, so it stands to reason to concentrate on making the core 80's figures that have the largest fanbase. Diversifying off into deep cuts, lazy repaints and figures that nobody has any nostalgia for will end the line.
They spent the money buying a knock off brand and turning the figures into He-man figures for the sake of diversity. So yaaaaaaay...now I won't get a complete collection.
