This is our annual high mountain fly fishing trip. Come along for some great riding, beautiful country and even a quick glimpse of a rare Idaho wolverine
As always Aaron, your videos (and audios!) are excellent! I see Shane standing quite a bit when the trail is rather rough. An excellent riding technique on such trails. I plan on adjusting the handlebar height higher on my late November delivery Can-Am Outlander once the warranty expires. I'm quite tall and want the handle bars well above my knees for stability on those rough trail sections. Oh yeah, the rear view camera on Shane's machine worked out very well. Nice you two seemed to have it well centered and it held position while traversing those big rocks. Again, good work on your videos and the scenery is fantastic!
Hey Aaron, I think I commented on another one of your videos that I did get a King Quad. Picked up a 2020 with power steering with only 79 miles. You and Shane should do a video showing your load out for your fishing trips. Would make for some great content! Keep it up! 👍
Good idea! Shane is the organized one. He’s always got everything laid out weeks before we go. I’m usually up all night before we go throwing my stuff together😬. Have you had a chance to put some miles on your quad? How do you like it so far?
Great video! Here is Elk City, ID it seems the only ATV that doesn’t blow a clutch from the mountain riding is the Honda Foreman 500. Everything breaks at 700, 1,000 or 1,500 miles and needs a rebuild.
Sounds just like me I don't want my atv to eat the dust 😂😂 I'm that person that doesn't even let it get dirty my neighbor sees me washing it and was like atv are made to in mud I said no idiots that didn't pay for it take to mud my parents didn't pay for it i did 🤷🏻♂️
Same here! I have a Can Am Outlander Max. I avoid the mud as much as I can. I like to keep it clean. Dust and dirt ok, mud not so much. Would love to make it out west to ride those trails. Some day. Have to hit the Hatfield McCoy trails first. Awesome video by the way.😀@@aaronkelley7448
It's so awesome to find some riding videos that aren't ruined with obnoxious background music that make them unwatchable, and / or much of the video is selfie shot yak yak. The audio clarity is great, nice to hear the machine & other trail riding noises. The absolute best sounds are when the machines are shut off & just hear the sound of nature 🙂
Nice Video. I cant wait to get my new Kingquad out. Loved the under water footage as well. Good one. Didn't mind the audio at all. Thanks for sharing and Thumbs up.
I’ve been enjoying that ‘14 I got from you. I haven’t been able to ride as much as I hoped. Still just under 2k miles. Ordered some ATV Guru bumpers for it, hoping to get them for next year. How many miles on your ‘19 now? Great videos!! I always enjoy watching them.
They are the lakes in the copper basin area. Lake creek. Whe have seen a couple 50 inch side by sides up there but they struggle in the really tight stuff. One ended up tearing up their bumper pretty good.
Sure, I work at the Deseret Industries in Ammon. Call there and ask for me. Probably the easiest way or send me a friend request on Facebook and we can use messenger after that.
Thanks for the feedback. Still trying to get it figured out. I have noticed that sometimes videos don’t automatically play in the highest quality available and I have to go to options an select a higher resolution for playback.
Hey Aaron, do you remember what resolution you filmed these in? I also have the Hero 8 and am wanting to film more of my rides and camp trips. I'm watching it on my 65" tv at home and the image looks amazing at 720p60. Also wondering how you did on battery life at the resolution you filmed it in. From a fellow east Idahoan, Thanks!
I will have to check to be sure. I’m thinking I was in 1080p 30 cinematic mode. It does burn through the batteries though. I have 5 total batteries and usually burn 3 or 4 on longer rides. I do pretty heavy editing and cut out lots of footage. I used to do lots of smaller clips but have changed to doing fewer longer ones. Just got a SENA 50s and home to be able to capture intercom conversations to my GoPro audio. Thanks for watching!
Hi Aaron. Just found your channel & sure glad I did! - - - The audio sounds excellent! No need to tamper with it. I like your idea about using helmet comm's. If you haven't already picked up your newer comms, be sure to buy some with a 3.5mm headphone plugs. They'll make your life a lot easier. We've been using them for years now & I think I've finally perfected the way I pick up the audio from the comms into my GoPro8. It involves using those older style flat circular earbuds. It would be awesome if I could find a 3.5mm TRS mic splitter so the audio from my comms goes directly into my GPro adapter alongside the audio from my GPro mic, but no luck with that yet. I found a TRRS splitter and there are adapters, but they make things very bulky. Anyway, sorry for rambling . . . now back to your video - lol. - - - 12:09 - the H9 and up have the horizon lock feature on them. That, along with the stabilization, make for a good view when filming behind like that. Great idea on your part! 15:08 - I agree! Not a fan of loud exhaust. 17:46 - very nice fish!!!! 18:56 - WOW, I don't think I've ever seen a wolverine in the wild. Not too many people do. You are very fortunate! Awesome video! Nice job on the camera work & editing. Thanx for sharin'!
Great feedback thanks. I still haven’t got the coms yet so will definitely keep that in mind. Hope to get out on the trails soon. It’s been a long hard winter in this area. Still quite a bit of snow in the high country.
The independent suspension on the kingquads makes the ride a lot nicer too. I brought 2022 king quads to the mountains of Colorado last year, and have had 0 problems after the first year. Tough machines, and reliable. I also shoot all of the videos for my channel with a GoPro 8. Looks like an awesome area to ride. subscribed.
Hey Aaron, recently found your channel on UA-cam and watched a bunch of your videos. Good stuff! 👍 I currently have a 2020 KRX 1000 that I got so I could ride along with my girl. However it's looking more like most my rides will be solo. Before I got the KRX I was looking at King Quad 750's. Starting to think I should have went that route instead of the side by side. You're so limited to where you can go not to mention towing the thing around to get to where you can ride. I don't have the budget to have both, but you never know! 😉
Thanks for the feedback. I like the SXS too but will probably wait till later in life to get one. The quads can go on more trails for sure. King 750s are awesome machines for just about any kind of riding. Can’t wait for the snow to melt off some so I can get back out there😎
What is the name of the trail / trailhead you were on. Excellent video I watched your video on Shull Canyon, you past a small Rock shelter with pictograph’s, i did get some pictures of the Bighorn sheep last month. Thanks for sharing 💥from Idaho Falls 👍
Just got a ‘23 Kingquad 750. Loving it so far, it seems yours makes the same exact noise under load as mine does, (almost like an engine knock), I’ve read that it’s normal and from other videos I’ve listened to of King Quads they all do it. Awesome views!
Glad you like so far. They do produce some knocking sound though the engine but as you mention it seems to be a normal thing. Mine hasn’t given any trouble at all and is still going strong.
Some great looking riding there! Looks like prime Sasquatch habitat. Kept expecting to see one pop out from behind a tree, lol. The 2 way speakers will be good. Makes video's more enjoyable IMO. We're your 14&17 King Quads also? Suzuki makes great ATV"s. I have a 2020 500 w the eps. Will probably go with the 750 though next time around.
It’s been a super fun trip every year. Very scenic and great fishing. He was a good one for a mountain lake for sure. I sure enjoy your Chanel and thanks for the info on the MTS!
There are several lakes up there. We usually camp at the same lake which is about 6.5 miles from the trail head. After we go back and forth to the other lakes during the trip we end up with about 20 miles on the ATVs.
Great sound quality and camera work. KQ exhaust has a nice but not obnoxious growl to it!. I've actually recommended your channel to Chad and Bryan from Dirt ObseXXion. They are big Grizzly fans and want to film a KQ vs a Grizzly video.
Thanks for the feedback and for the recommendation! I appreciate it. One of my buddies is going to pick up a Grizzly pretty quick here so I should be able to do at least a brief overview of both soon. Unfortunately the weather is turning bad quick, so not sure how much riding we will be able to get in😡
Thanks for the suggestion Preston. I’ve always liked the capacity on the back of the 500 Pioneer. Seems like that rack is huge and I don’t really need an actual dump bed. Got to love the Honda reliability too!
Whoa that was a dandy fish. Great video all around. Very cool seeing the wolverine. Thanks for sharin your trip. (I just purchased a used Honda Pioneer 500 sxs...had 3 King Quads before that...We're thinking we made a mistake...so noisy and just not as much fun so far.)
Thanks for the positive feedback Bob! I’ve seen those Honda Pioneers and wondered how they are. One thing I do really like about them is that there’s tons of room to load stuff on the back. I worried they might be under powered with the 500 size engine. I’ve heard others say that driving the SXS machines isn’t as fun as riding the 4 wheelers. I’m still tempted to get a 50” SXS. I notice when I ride with my dad in his that I don’t get as fatigued after a long day. It’s also super stable with a very low center of gravity. Decisions decisions 😬
@@aaronkelley7448 Yes it’s a tough decision. We’ve had 3 sxs’s over the years..Yamaha Rhino, Polaris RZR, and the Pioneer. The Pioneer is definitely the worst ride of the three..rough and really poor seat. It also could use low range in our mountains in my opinion. The Rhino was the noisiest and hottest, but the best climber. The RZR had the most mechanical issues. All our King Quads were flawless and rode far better than the Pioneer. But, in the cold, those side by sides are sure nice. Good luck on your decision.
You have some awesome terrain for riding there in Idaho. I live in southeast Texas and all we have is flat lands and mud. And don’t forget plenty of mosquitoes. Most Atv riders here set up their machines up for mud riding. I’m just not into that. I would love to bring my Grizzly there and ride the Paiute trails. Love your videos. Keep’em coming.
I’d like to get into this style of riding .. what tires would you recommend ?? Having a tough time deciding. Wonder if I should run a slightly larger tire also??
Thanks for watching. I have been using the Maxis BigHorn 2.0 and have had great luck. The original Bighorn is also really good but is a bit heavier. I stuck with stock size but would consider one size up. If you go too much bigger you will notice some power loss and the handling characteristics can change. Just my opinion.
I just put some new SUNF tires on my Outlander. They're very similar to the Maxxis BigHorn. Like you, I put the stock size on mine too. @@aaronkelley7448
Yeah the engine braking is a little bit to much going down some hills you need to give it a little bit of throttle or you just crawl along a little to slow.
Last summer my wife and I rode our 50in into the lake loop and saw you two guys fishing and camped at long lake.we waved and said hello and you just turned your back to us with no reply. I'm going to chose to think you just didn't see us wave even tho we were very close and that your not a couple of jerk primadonas. If you want grayling, round lake is full of them.
Hey Thanks for watching. We see people in there from time to time but I’ve never in my life turned my back on someone who greeted me. Not my style. In fact I’ve got several friends I’ve developed great friendships with over the years because we met in the field or on the lake. Sorry about that, I must have missed it somehow.
We tried round lake a couple times but it was years ago and we only caught a few very small 4-6” Grayling. Maybe we should give it another shot in the future
Great video Aaron some nice riding and fishing , ya im with you on the atv over the sxs , i love the Grizzly miss my Rubicon though just dont miss the ride lol did Shane keep his , i have a new set or rox bars and risers yet to install for the type of riding you guys are doing

Is that a black bear? time 9:28 sure looks like it and something else be for the that standing there check it out. the other looks like a cow before the bear it is a bear lol lol.
I never noticed that, just looked on my phone and it sure does look like a bear but I can’t scrub through and zoom in as good with my phone. I’ll take a look when I get home on the computer.
I have watched this repeatedly at various speeds. Sure looks like a black bear that is eating and lifts its head and looks your way. Nice cinnamon brown nose.
Great job on the video. Using the machines for what they were designed to do. ATV's are as close as a modern man will get to being a cowboy on the range!
About time we got another video. King Qaud 750 is the king.
Thanks for watching Mitch. Sorry it’s been so long. I need to kick it into gear😂😂

Thanks Snarge! The risers sound like a good idea and will make for mor comfort when standing. How long until you get your quad?

That is some awesome looking trails! Would love to be riding them.
Thanks for watching, they really are some cool trails!
Was that a bear on your right at 9:26?
Watched again and it totally was, you can see it move its head
Just cows, you can hear them in the background. If there was a bear the cows would not stick around.
You’re the second person who saw and mentioned that. I’m guessing it was a cow too but didn’t ever even notice until someone mentioned it.
Great video thanks for taking the time to make and share
Thank you!
Looks like a great place to ride!
It really is, thanks for watching!
Nice cinnamon brown nose.
bull and cow then the black bear

Using the machines for what they were designed to do.
ATV's are as close as a modern man will get to being a cowboy on the range!
So true, I wasn’t raised around livestock so they are my only ticket into some of these areas.
