I hear people ask the question all the time..."which one is better?"
Well in this video, we'll check the King Quad 500 out up close and personal. We'll compare this machine to the Honda Rubicon since that's the most comparable unit, and we'll check out just which machine is truly the better ATV!

I have the 750AXI PS KINGQUAD and love it. I've had many atvs- 2 Yamaha 3 Kawasaki 4 Hondas and 9 Suzukis - Honda and Suzuki both make a great products but for me Suzuki tends offers bit more. They have a history of developing new standards and have created some pretty innovative and legendary quads over the years - Quadzilla, the LTR and the King Quad - they are all leaders in their classes (even more so if you look at their crotch rockets and dual propose bikes). Team Suzuki is strong and they make smart and reliable stuff. I hear a lot of Honda guys bash Suzuki out of loyalty to their brand, maybe they have never stepped out of the Honda tent. I challenge you to try a Suzuki and see if your opinion isn't swayed.

Yamaha is behind Suzuki in quality .if you look at there footwells they have no supports underneath them there plastic is cheap and brittle 4 of them in are group all 4 cracked and broke .They also have problems stalling out constantly due to the air box design.Lots of people switching to Suzuki in are group seem like great well built machines
Lol. Yamaha is miles ahead in quality bud. And there's no air box issues, sounds more like operator error. There's 14 Yamaha in our riding group, 2 450s, the rest are 700 Kodiak and grizzly. None have ever stalled out. I also moderate 3 Yamaha forums, nobody out of hundreds of users has complained of a stalling out problem.
@@jasonmorehouse3756 I agree Yamaha is just as good quality as Suzuki but wouldn’t say they aren’t miles ahead. Very comparable and I would have no regrets owning either machine. Japanese wheelers are just in a league of their own IMO. Currently torn between a Kodiak 450 or King Quad 500.
@@Judson1392 I own a 2020 KQ 500 with power steering. It's an awesome machine, very reliable so far and I love it! My friend owns a Kodiak 450. His goes all day with me and burns much less gas but without diff lock not quite as good in mud. Both very good machines! Can't go wrong with either 1 I'd say!
Even dirt obsession will tell you the king quad is a better built Atv And there grizzly guy’s.Check out hellcats channel he had both and showed the problem am talking about. I got videos of when my buddy’s put there foot threw the footweels just stepping off the Quads .In are market around here extremely high mileage Suzuki four wheeler’s are way more common then Yamaha’s It’s just the way it is .All of my buddy’s have switched to kings after owning newer grizzlys and Kodiacs all seem to be much happier.I will be on one myself after I get out of the Mud Atv faze
I have a 2022 king quad 750 AXI SE+ in grey and it’s a fucking beast. I love it. Put a winch on it and front and rear bumpers and it’s amazing and bulletproof. Rode a grizzly growing up but this thing is so much more powerful and looks so much better (easily hit 75/80mph stock). Just wish it came with LED headlights but you can switch them out for $40 and it looks so nice!
Great looking machine! I have the 750 base, only regret is not getting power steering. Been a Honda guy my whole life and honestly I’m impressed with the KingQuad. Only weird quirk so far, for whatever reason my machine came from the assembly plant with the front end out of alignment, still gotta take care of that. Anyway, thanks for the content, KingQuad for the win!
You can buy an aftermarket power steering and it is not that much expensive. And for your alignement, your not the first i heard say that. Were you wheel close or open, because if they are close a litle bit, this is normal.
Have owned dozens of Hondas since the three wheelers first came out many decades ago. We use them in rugged terrain on the ranch, averaging well over 5k miles/yr on each one. We switched to ruggedized Suzuki KQ in 2015 and never looked back. Too many shifting problems with the Hondas and too much time in the shop. The Suzuki's have had zero downtime, and fit us much better. We use them hard and take them places most people wouldn't try. They are far more agile and much more comfortable to ride for us because we depend on their use as a substitute for a horse. My husband is flat-out abusive to a four-wheeler. If they can hold up to him that means something. We have had zero problems with the belt drive driving in and through deep water. We often travel over 50 miles one way and need to be assured that we will get back. Having five of these now and not having any problems plus enjoying the ride made the conversion to Suzuki a no-brainer for us.
I agree completely with what you are saying but that would apply to the older Hondas for us. We switched after the 2014 and 2015 models ended up being unreliable. Suzuki's are not noted for fancy new gizmos Etc. It is probably why they are so dependable. If you are looking at a new model, all of these four wheelers are larger and therefore slightly less agile than the smaller framed older models of each brand. I love the ride of the Suzuki and appreciate the adjustable shocks. It is shockingly nimble considering this larger frame but I have not driven a new Honda so it would be unfair to comment on that. It costs less to own the Suzuki both in money and downtime. Of course the biggest factor for us is safety. They've got to get you home. Good luck to you!
IMHO, my 94 Suzuki King Quad 300 4wd was the best utility Quad ever made ! I'll take gears over a CVT any day!
You should of mentioned the 450 kodiak as a comparable option , i own Grizzlys recent switch from a Rubicon looked at them all the ride was my reason going to a new machine , the Grizzly had the softest ride and a better machine for me , the japanese atv's are just better machines you can't compare the japanese single cylinder to the big hp manufacture models
Just mentioning my second choice was the 750 KQ then a Rubicon , ive owned all the japanese machines over the yrs i know lots a people with Canam and Polaris and the Polaris would be the last machine one i would buy
I am trying to decide between the king quad 500 and the 750. I don’t trail ride. I need a dependable machine for some logging (firewood), farm chores and plowing snow. I live in central Wisconsin. Would the 750 be overkill? My current ATV is a Honda Rancher 4x4. Thanks
Suzuki has excellent build quality and wished they made more 4 wheeler selection.
with something to compete in the sport quad market which is all to yamaha, they could lower cost of production and engineering with existing motor in their lineup going to a sport quad with some slight modifications and go with it! if yamaha can put their 686 in the raptor so why suzuki shouldn’t be able to fit their 722 inside?
@terracer I wish they would as well a sport quad but Suzuki has better quality to me like compared to Yamaha and Honda both.

I’ve 2 750s both Suzuki’s, contracting with them everyday 12-14hours both are without a doubt the best quads I’ve ever had! Yamaha is ok to but very prone to top end rebuilds. SUZUKI IS NUMBER 1 👏

When will Suzuki release the 2024 king quad 500 and 750? It’s October now. Only the 400 is on the Suzuki website. Are the done building them?
I just got a leftover 22 850 base model for a good price. So far I’m loving it. It’s not my first Suzuki but it’s my first quad
I rode a KQ 750 for a couple days. Impressive as hell. Just bought a 500 yesterday. Delivery in a couple days. Can't wait.
These are very comfortable rides. Love them.
I love my 2019. 250p miles on it. No issues. A few pop rivet things broke on the fender causing a slight vibration that wasn't there originally. I did upgrade the tires and added the front and rear brush guard
I’ve had Hondas all my life growing up, I finally bought and 850 outlander and love it. I want to buy a second machine and I really like this new King quad, but I’m so attached to honda for nostalgia, it’s a hard choice
I know Honda owners, I know KQ owners, and Honda's have issues, and the KQ owners have none. I owned an 18 750 and it was rock solid
Where the battery? And do you need to disaswmble to change the oil and filter?
Battery easily accessed under seat. I just changed oil for first 100hr. Piece of cake. Easy access to filter and drain plug. My 2022 750 rocks. Hope this helps.

I had a 2014 750 king quad before I got the rubicon
The thing I miss about the king is the higher cruising speed it will cruise at 50 mph and the Honda is bouncing off the limiter at 48
I prefer the ride on the Honda on slow rough trail it’s lighter up front smoother and higher by about an inch

I’m thinking of new atv and can’t make up my mind between 750 or 500 kq I’ve had my 2005 Arctic cat 400 which has a Suzuki built motor in it from factory and have had no problems and for those people that say there’s no replacement for displacement I have yet to experience anything that a 400 won’t do. Other than the cc difference on the 2 Suzuki’s and about $900. Difference, it appears they’re both good machines... i’m gonna keep hunting for a used 2019 and up king quad… As I understand they fixed the starting idle issue after that year
I own a honda rincon 680. Best piece of machinery i i have ever owned. It has 14,000 km and used exclusively on my trapline in Northwestern Ontario Canada. When i decide yo upgrade, it will definitely be the Suzuki 750 with power steering.

@@gabel408 You'll get more enjoyment out of the King Quad. For sure. Now, if you were to tell me you would be using it 95% for farm use, I'd say the Rubicon would be a great machine. The Rubicon is more so for that Farmer or Rancher who wants the Honda gear drive transmission 5-speed who may take the unit hunting from time to time. Since independent suspension is more stable.
But the out of the two machines, the King Quad offers more enjoyment on the trails since it doesn't have to shift. Plus it has a little more power than the Rubicon.
I've had 2 Foreman's and a KQ 750. The KQ was ever bit as good as the Honda. They are very similar quality almost like they are made in the same factory. Its basically a Honda with 750 cc and CVT Imo
I bought the same bike …2022… I’ve always had a Honda but the Suzuki 500 king quad is better then Honda I ever owned.
Hondas do have parking brakes , I have a 2024 Rubicon and it does have a parking brake ,all Hondas do
I have a 2021 honda rancher and a 2021 king quad 500 i love honda but i have to say that the smooth ride of the king quad is un comparable in rough terrain

You do realize the belt drive still has a shaft. It's a CVT transmission. There's still a drive shaft that goes between the transmission and the differential.
I like the king quad better than any Honda Foreman or rancher

Suzuki KingQuad and Honda Rubicon are the only real choices for ME for their build quality and dependability. My only concern about a non-Honda is the belt drives. My mechanic buddy had a Polaris 500 for a while and his belt slipped every time it got wet, so he went back to Honda. What is your opinion of the KingQuad' belt drive compared to other brands?
I’ve got a 2008 KQ 750 with 7200 miles and still original belt. So I’d say the belt will last a very long time.
@@gregrowe1168 Thanks for the feedback. Both are nice-looking quality machines. Love the 50hp of the KQ vs. the 30hp Rubicon, but also love the Honda's steel gears that will never slip. Wish I could afford both.
If you go deeper than the intakes then you get the belt slip you deserve.
For the record, I know 3 Honda owners, 2 models, 3 different years and all 2018+. All three have massive shifting issues going uphill. 1 also would go I to limp mode after every 2" deep puddle. Literally 2". After 3 years of 13+ visits, a diagnostic tool strapped to the pod with no real results, Honda finally caved and just replaced the ATV. New one still shift weird going uphill.
So KQ with a belt all the way.
@@EC_ATV_Outdoors Thanks for the feedback and info. Yes, the KQ seems to always get great reviews. Just curious if those Hondas had a foot-shifter or the DCT? The Hondas with ES (electric shift) do have a bad reputation. I am old school and prefer the foot-shifter.
Polaris is the last bike you should be looking at for belt dependability. What CVT system on the market. The 3 big japanese brands know how to build a CVT, lol at Yamaha with the best CVT on the market. They even have a 10 year belt warranty. My buddies 450 Yamaha was16 years old when he sold it, still on the original belt that still looked like new except for some dust. Amazing machines
I owned a Suzuki 2002 Vinson 500 for 20 years. I don't like that there is no park and the key/light switch is on the right side of the machine, which is your throttle side, which makes it awkward when turning on your lights when moving. I would really like to see Suzuki make a 2up. I agree these units are the most reliable on the market. I have never had any luck at all with Honda products.
Owned honda vehicles and now have a low mileage honda pioneer 500 that already likes to burn oil .. hense why I’m watching this video

I do not believe that is a radiator but rather an oil cooler.
That is in fact a radiator. This machine uses coolant to keep everything cool. . Has a coolant reservoir and everything.
My mistake. I thought most of these big singles used oil coolers, and for the most part were air cooled. Apologies. I am currently torn between the king quad and the grizzly. Seems that Suzuki offers some incentives compared to Yamaha though.
Why do they use plastic crash pans underneath,thin a shit, pissy brakes, worst tires on earth, if i bought one id need a $2500 incentive, to make finish the job they started
Most utilities only come with plastic/ poly skid pans unless upgraded with aluminum or steel. Most folks don’t need a steel skid plate for general work use. Same thing with the tires. Those tires will last a life time and so most of the work larger tires will.

I know of a honda rubicon 520 that all ready has over 20k+ miles. Its ridden every single day!
I can send you multiple ads on market place with king quad 500s and 750s with 25 to 30 k miles .It’s comparing apples to apples the rubicon and the king quads are the best built atvs on earth

The DCT transmission alone is superior in every way shape and form than anything out there . And there’s just no way in hell that SuziQ can come close to the longevity of quality , reliability and performance , and aftermarket support of the Honda .
You forgot one other important comparison, Resale value , that’s another win for Honda !
We’ve actually noticed over the years the Suzuki products are holding their value just as highly as the Honda products! I will say, both are excellent machines, but I haven’t had a Suzuki owner come in with electric shift issues 😉

Just been a Honda guy my whole life ( and Yamaha) and NEVER had ANY issues whatsoever. I’m old school and still prefer to ride a Honda Foreman with a solid rear axle and manual foot shift . They’re made to work hard and be dependable, and that’s what they do best .
You really can’t go wrong with any of the Japanese built ATV/ dirt bikes . In fact , I’d take ANY Honda , Yamaha , Suzuki or Kawasaki over any Arctic Cat , Polaris or Can Am any day of the week !
@@NorthwoodsNomad I couldn’t agree more! My family has been Honda their whole life. But haven’t been exposed to all the brands we sell for the last 10 years, I’ve realized, like you said, all the Japanese products are solid units. Each has their own purpose.

Hate to burst your bubble there bud. But Honda's DCT transmission was the roonation of the brand. There have been so many problems with that over the years. Even the newer upgraded one is having problems currently in the Rubicon. It is just a horrible transmission not designed for off-road use. Suzuki would be one of my alternate choices. I'm a Yamaha guy now. I grew up on Hondas and swore by them until I actually open my eyes and try to Yamaha. Yamaha cvt transmission is number one in the industry for a reason and it will walk circles around a Honda. Any day is dependability and build quality completely obliterate Honda in every way. Shape and form. Not even on the same scale. Honda used to make a really good machine. Now they're carrying on living on their old dependability name but they're not as defendable as they used to be. And it's funny that you mentioned performance because performance doesn't even enter the chat with a Honda compared to any other brand out there. Even the cheap Chinese brand CF Moto are walking all over a Honda in performance. Like I said, I used to really love the Hondas but they are just a sad excuse for an ATV now

Why is there no 2up extended chassis?
I’ll be honest, I don’t see Suzuki having that market. Although the King Quads perform extremely well off road, Trust me I’ve ridden them tons, I just don’t see them ever coming out with that as an option. Why, I’m not totally sure.
Rubicon foreman do not have the same chassis
Similar chassis just different rear suspension. While the Foreman features a straight axle assembly in the rear ended, the Rubicon features the independent suspension which is the closest model to the King Quad 500-750.

Belt drive is no competition for shaft drive

How is it not? Its literally can respond to a situation/demand faster then a honda's transmission can, there's no brief period in between shifts where theres a break in drive power like a honda transmission would. I'll take the Suzuki.
Suzuki is shaft drive front and back. The transmission turns the shafts. The belt turns the gears in the transmission. The Hondas transmission turns the shafts as well. The only difference is Honda has a hydrostatic transmission. And there is nothing wrong with belts. Yamaha offers a ten year warranty on their belt. And Suzuki has the same sorta clutch system. I had a Polaris sportsman 500ho and it was a 2006 just changed the belt before I sold it. And I didn’t have to because when I pulled it off. It looked brand new. And I just sold it so 2006-2022. Not bad.
Suzuki is missing a segment of a market (Honda buyers) but not offering these bigger quads with a foot shift!
@terracer I totally get it, yes likely over 80% of riders want an automatic but IMO offering a 500 or 750 with footshift and a solid rear axle would win over some riders as the only option now is the (slow) Foreman. It's frustrating how little Honda changes their line-up but people buy them anyway. Back in the day, Suzuki sold a lot of "simple" quads because they were reasonably priced and reliable. A mild recession is coming so perhaps we see some of this old tech being offered again!
No saduky is not better than a Honda. Only thing close to Honda is Yamaha.. People that buy Single Cylinder 4x4s want reliability and HONDA IS #1. Yamaha #2
Nowadays, having been doing this for 10 years, I’d say they’re are all up to the same standard in quality, and dependability. However, some brands have more to offer their buyers. All Honda, Yamaha, And Suzuki are just as high of quality. But one unit might have something to offer, that the other one doesn’t.
Suzukis are very reliable. They’re right up there with Yamaha and Honda. The 750 has plenty of power, much more than any atv Honda makes. I’ve got an older KQ 750 and it’s very peppy and quite a capable machine. Stock tires aren’t very good, I went with something a bit more aggressive but stayed with stock size. They’re very similar to ITP mudlite ats.
Sadly you're wrong. That used to be the case now. If you want a single cylinder dependable bike yamaha's number one Suzuki will be number two and Honda is going to be way down that list as their power performance and reliability are all on about the same plane as their suspension. Getting progressively worse over the years. Not better.

I would actually really enjoy watching that! Only on a handful of occasions have I been able to ride both machines back to back.
