Don’t think it’s worth switching from Sony 20mm 1.8 or 24mm if you already own it. If you are starting from scratch, I think I’d go Sony 20mm or Sigma 24mm. Great review Manny!
I know what you mean when you say there so close its hard to make videos, but I still find these kinds of videos really helpful. Makes the tough decisions of looking at lens much simpler.
You got me sold on what lens I need to get. I like how you are not stuck on one brand lens and straight to the point topics. You are helping me to get better at photography by your videos. Thank you.
Exactly. Well said, my friend. Manny I'd no frills when giving his reviews. We just need to get down to the good stuff. Manny does that and doesn't waste our time with crazy theatrics. Love it! 📸💯
One question Manny: Could you do an outdoor off or on camera flash tutorial as a one man gang without an assistant? Minimal setup you could handle by yourself in windy conditions? I know it's a challenge but for many here I think it is the reality to make many things work by yourself... Best regards, you are great!
This is an extreme condition. I dont think it is an option use off camera flash without an assistant outside on a windy day. The risk of breaking a light or defuser is too high.
Would also love to see how he can do outdoor flash by himself as a one man band! His flash photos look great but I probably am not yet going to hire someone to carry a beauty dish everywhere for a day.
My guess would be to use two bare flashes on separate lightstands to simulate the effect of softbox/umbrella, and I'm likewise interested in how Manny would resolve this challenge.
"That's what we call 5'6 energy," as she makes 'climax face." The general consensus I've seen is pretty on par with yours; if you already on the Sony versions, keep them. But if you don't, Sigma seems to be the way to go. I own the 85mm f/1.4 DG DN and it was the easiest justification I've ever made on a third party lens. It's simply perfect. Makes sense that these would be on par.
I have 24mm F1.4 and 28mm F1.4, so naturally for me will 20mm F1.4. But looks like Sigma is on a roll again with new lens releases, I am looking to see if they come out with 40mm F1.2 or 50mm F1.2, these two has been rumored to come out in 2019.
For someone who doesn't own either, the buy could go either way; an extra 2/3 stop for the same price and fairly close image quality and AF performance might be justifiable. For me, my OCD in having a whole kit at f/1.4 is making me strongly, strongly consider the 20mm DG DN.
Hi Manny. First of all, I love your videos bro keep up the excellent work. Can you please tell me out of the 2 lenses which was the sharpest. And is the sigma 20mm f1.4 sharper than the sony 24mm f1.4 gm lens as I am making g choices between these 2 but want the sharpest one. Thanks buddy
Thank you for this video!! Which is better regarding the Sigma lenses? The 24mm 1.4 or the 20mm 1.4? This is what I am wondering, I just purchased the Sigma 24mm 1.4 but before it arrives I am wondering if it was the best choice between the two? What do you think? Thanks in advance
love the first shots with the sigma! which F stop did you use to get those crispy sharp images? ... forget it.. i should have just watched the vid for longer :D crazy for f1.4
Hey Manny, any advice for gear review videos? My channel has been starting to pick up in views and subs recently and I want to start getting into the gear stuff. Hello man I’m thinking about the Sony a7siii Do you know if I can transfer this camera files to an iPhone 13 pro and editing the files on the iPhone? Thank you
Nice. Thanks! I have the 24GM + FE 16-35 PZ so I'll pass on the Sigmas for now. Btw, I'm doing a golden hour couples shoot in Malibu this weekend so I just picked up your Golden Hour presets to (hopefully) save some editing time!
I literally see little difference between the two 20, yes the Sigma is blurring the background a tiny bit more but personally it’s really not enough that I would ever consider it of that reason alone, In a studio or for astrophotography it might mean something, but that extra seize and weight is a massive turn off when there so little conclusions regarding which is best, especially as it dos seem like it is very situation dependent, especially in Europe where it’s almost a 100 euro more expensive then the G. In regards to the two 24mm all I seen so far show that the Sigma is softer wide open, in the corners and has some rather noticeable flaws like ghosting. But where I live the GM is also like 500 euros more expensive and as we all know we aren’t exactly hunting for flaws to turn up like reviewers do, so in most situations we probably never going to experience the difference. Basically I think I wait till independent lab test to make final verdict of these. But neither show anything that if I already had one would make me go out and get one of the art.
PLEASE : I would like to come across someone having the curiosity to make "back-up" photos of every shot made with the 24mm (at f/1.4, and say f/5.6) also with the 20mm WITHOUT CHANGING DISTANCE to subject ! ..then crop those in post to match as close as possible to the framing of the 24mm shots. (Imagine You could finetune and store the finder's cropping to ouer taste..!) . How does bokkeh, distortion, grain, ..compare?
Great video!!! If Sigma wanted to make money they would be developing lenses for the RF and Z mounts that’s a market that needs third party lenses. Just pre-ordered the Canon 24mm F 1.8. If I had a 20mm option I would have likely gone for that. The car pictures great, it would be cool if you did a video on how you edited the reflections
Really couldn't notice the difference in real life, Manny. I think we are all guilty of thinking that the next new lens will be "The One" - part of the fun, I guess.....
Not using Sony but using several art sigmas and so far not happy sadly. Miss focus so much, focus engine burns easy and for some reasons parts are far from reach. So far wasn't worse the cheaper price. The 35mm was my last sigma.
@@MarkStCyr Most other reviewers show otherwise and it also show some rather glaring flaws of the 24 art. The two 20 are close and it probably mostly depends on what you intend to use it for. But the 24 the GM is really the better lens but it’s probably not 400-500$/€ better.
Having a supportive wife is worth more than any lens. Just left a girl who had a problem with me carrying a camera with me everywhere. 🚩

Two things: Diana is hilarious and if I were you, I'd sell the old 20 1.8 because the 20 1.4 just looks better. Let us know if you buy it!!!!
Nothing beats a supportive funny wife! 🔥🔥🔥👌
Really appreciate this comparison. Difference between 20 1.4 vs 20 1.8 isn’t enough to justify a bigger lens. 20 1.8 looks like the winner.

Hey Manny do you have any short winning list?
Not a Sony or Sigma guy - just dropped by to hit that "Like" button.
rando question: On your gopro chest mount for BTS, do you use the max lens mod, or just using the standard wide lens.
Standard but I just did pick up the lens mod :) Haven’t used it yet tho
What's is on the sigma 20mm at 7:50 ?

I don't think sigma is having any troubles making money.
Canon and Nikon are selfish with sharing the technology with third parties ie Sigma, Tamron and Viltrox
It is not Sigma not wanting to produce the RF versions. Like other people stated here, Canon does not Sigma in their RF ecosystem.
Active steady shot with the Sony A7 IV works way better on my native Sony 24mm GM.
After the 5'6 energy comment you would have been in your rights to make her look like a Oompa Loompa with the wide angle lenses
MK7 R + Sony shooter gang 🤙🏼
Why does the Sony look wider in your shots?
Manny, do more car related videos!
