Watching you fish from your lynx makes me want to get one so bad. I live on the west coast, bat area, I can't say totally different fishing conditions but it sure looks like it could do the job. Thanks again, brother. Tight lines!
Actual on-the-water videos actually fishing or whatever are truly useful. Not to take away from other types of videos, just saying these are valuable as well. Cheers and thanks for taking the time.
Recently just got myself a 106 pdl, was real close to pullin the trigger on a hobie, after multiple pdl reviews, yours included I really couldn't be happier with the yak, tight lines!
Enjoyed the video and your honest evaluation pertaining to lynx vs predator. Wishing you speedy health recovery and looking forward to more content!!!!
Love the videos. Keep them coming. I’m new to this kayak fishing. I also got couple hobie lynx to fish and cruise around Biloxi and the gulf coast. Would love to go your way and fish that area also.
More great footage man, love it! I’ll be there in a couple days and really hope Mother Nature cooperates with me. Looking forward to some tight lines! Keep up the good work
@@NavarreKayakFishing I’ve never fished the gulf side, other than wading at the beach. But after seeing some of your videos, I may have to launch the predator on that side and give it a try. Normally I fish the sound/flats for reds and trout, but if they let me down I may have to try it out
Nice king mackerel! I liked the video. After watching the video, I'm not sure that the Lynx or the Getaway are good fishing platforms for larger fish. This video gave me insight on something I hadn't thought about. Thank you. Tight lines.
I like the Hobie Drive more than the PDL for pedal efficiency and for shallow water flats. You can get incredibly shallow with the with the small flutters and no worries about grass. I’ll take the PDL fishing structure, bridges ect with that instant reverse. Ideally everyone should have a fleet of a few kayaks to have everything covered, not necessary but a nice luxury.
Amen! For kicks I called my local shop and asked what the wait time is for a Lynx. They told me that Hobie has told them to stop taking pre-orders as they don’t know when they can ship. Must be selling a ton of them. That 50 lb Lynx boat weight has me interested but I’m working on a better way to deploy and retrieve my Sportsman 120 PDL. Once I get that licked, I’m a happy camper!
The Predator is great and is going to allow you to fish in nastier conditions then the Lynx. The Lynx is lightweight and makes for an easy throw and go platform.
Saw your king rig video from August 19, 2019 where you indicated a duster is not always necessary. Tell us a little bit about this king rig. I think you said it is weighted. Are there times when the weighted rig is better? Thanks...really enjoy your content.
The turbo hammer (I’ll put a link in the description) is weighted. It helps get they bait down a bit, it’s shiny, and it should create a bubble trail in the water. It works.
I could watch you fish all day. haha. What's that white floating bouy at the back of the lynx? You said the "the pdl system is pretty far superior to that in my opinion" are you referring to hobie or the predator pdl?
@@NavarreKayakFishing that’s good to know I wasn’t sure what it was. Really you think the PDL system from Old Town is better? That would be the propeller vs the fins right? May I ask why you feel that way?
Instant reverse makes a huge difference. The PDL drive also has less moving parts and a five year warranty. The mirage drive has a ton of parts and if it’s breaks it always considered user error.
It's obvious that the kayak is rock-solid stable, but the drive is inconvenient in comparison to the Old Town PDL Drive's instant reverse. That was a very...uhh...busy bit of business, dealing as much with the drive as the fish. I'd use that for a fun day because all day fishing doesn't seem fun having to stop reeling to steer AND choose reverse/forward. The PDL destroys it for fishing deeper waters, but I'd go with the Lynx for skinny water.
The one thing I've already noticed is that although the Lynx is going to allow me to fish more often, the quality does not in any way compare to OldTown. Everything about the Hobie feels like it's going to break. The added H Rails are noticeably flimsy, The Seam or what ever it is that goes completely around the kayak is like a serrated knife. The seat is so flimsy that it feels like the screen on my screen cage. Anything more pointed than my ass, is going right through it. lol. I'm visualizing how to adapt the OldTown seat to the Hobie Lynx. Would need a gigantic 6 inch riser in the back. No reason for the Lynx to be this flimsy considering the price. it has a lot of room for improvement.
Ditch the peddle stirrups.... Theeee most worthless thing Hobie has ever put on a yak. They only do one thing.... impede your ability to put your foot on the peddle. You'll never, not even once, use them to secure your footing or to pull rather than pull.
@@NavarreKayakFishing Me too.... since 2012... Revo 11 and Compass. Ditched the stirrups on both them day 1. Bought a Compass because I thought the new "seats" were better. Nope. I wish I still had my Revo 11. But there really isn't a better yak than Hobie. I've had a Native Propell. Weaker power and was useless after a couple of years of normal use. H O B I E ! ! ! !
Should we film more videos like this?
Loved it, only issue I have with it is that it triggers a bit of fisherman's envy.......
Weathers looking great towards the end of the week now so hopefully there’s a few more kings that would like to eat.
@@NavarreKayakFishing I have never been a huge fan of kings but I bet they make for a ton of fun with clients.
you bet you should....fire up the "want-to-be Floridian" in me.
Ya, I’m not a fan either but I’ll catch a few once a year to get it over with while looking for things that have Sails.

Nice catch

Looks like a nice day. I went out Saturday and it was a raging mud puddle, went back home. Parking lot was empty in the most public of spaces though.
Hope you feel better! 🙏

Which rod holders do you prefer
I still use the old ones from back in the day when YakAttack and Ram were partners.
We don't have this in our country here,
Is this available on any online shopping?
Thank you
I’m not sure if it’s available for shipping.

@@the45er yep the weight is huge and I’m sure it’ll attract anglers and non anglers as well as the older folks with the weight factor.
Love the videos. I'll be moving down Early November. Any good kayak fishing in the gulf in Winter or does it slow down til spring?
The Blackfin make an appearance during the winter months from time to time but it’s unpredictable.

The fwd/rev pull shifters are absolutely a major compromise. Hobie needs to do better. Maybe a foot lever. Shifting by hand is a hassle when fishing.

The public spot of all public spots.
It gets absolutely bonkers in that parking lot. I refuse to launch there during peak season/weekends. Always a possibility of getting blocked in.
