    This is the kinda review I have been searching for. Not some guy who weighs 140 soaking wet, but an actual full size human being. Thank you

    Glad I caught your video, thanks for the visual info! Looks like it’s as miserable as I expected for its size, weight, flat hull shape. My single half day on fairly calm waters in one. Definitely well suited for canals, ponds, small lakes, and back water with ideal conditions. I was looking at the Lynx and the PA14 and after trying them there’s a clear set of fishing styles for each that they’re ideal for but both will fill in either niche on occasion. The Lynx felt far less stable when leaning from the seat where as the PA14 barely reacts. The Lynx really shines in its lite weight and smaller size making it a logistical breeze to haul and store and excels at minimalist fishing trips.

    I went from a sportsman pdl 120, to a salty pdl, then to a lynx. I can say for sure, in the crazy port inlet washing machine rides, my lynx has literally zero pucker factor, compared to literally continuous pucker factor with the previous rigs. Then, in big breakers at sand bar, eaves just wash over n through, with hardly any issues of getting tipped, plus it floats so shallow, no more getting push against the bars either. Great boat, just gotta be a lil more careful with it’s shell. So stable.

      Awesome man glad it was a good upgrade I’m definitely digging the lynx myself.

    A while back I searched for rough water reviews and nothing came up. Then months later here it is, without searching. Would have loved to see some following seas, and riding some of those swells broad side. But better than a lot of the vids out there

      Funny how that works lol. Yeah I think I’m this video I really wasn’t testing it I was trying to get back to the ramp but I think it handles waves from those directions pretty good.

    Most people fish this area to get out of the wind. Usually a protected area.
    Bring banana next time. That wind would have peeled it back for ya.
    Looks like opening wkend of snapper season out there 🌊

    Thanks for this review. I was wondering how well this yak would handle rough conditions. My last concern is how skinny it gets. You and I are roughly the build, so I'd be interested in knowing what your experience has been in skinny water on this yak.

    Bro i have the same boat and ive been in the very same situation. 3' white capped waves. I was SOAKED. 2 bags of tackle 5 rods and a powerpole. Im 6'3" 215. The lynx didn't even flinch. Powered right through.

    Can’t believe you didn’t look the little tackle boxes with all the water flying over it in that knarly stuff! Also, does the H crate lock into the kyak like on some of their other models?

    I have a kayak identical to the hammerhead you tested and it also cuts through waves like this. However when you turn sideways is when things can get a little sketchy. The problem was the turning radius" large" so you feel vulnerable a bit too long for comfort ! Did you happen to catch any sideways?
    Great review!!!!

    Thanks for this video. Wanted to see on the water footage of bad weather which happens random here in Florida as well. I ended up getting a 2022 PA12 only because I got the best deal ever. Some guy used it twice, I picked it up for 3k & the lynx is 3k so I just had to go with the bigger boat just cause of the deal. But I’m still gettin a lynx so I can have options.

    What are your thoughts on the Hobie drive vs. a pedal drive?

    • @southernsalt
      @southernsalt  2 роки тому +1

      Mirage drive is the way to go. It’s faster, has more torque, and gets shallow.

    That is an awesome Kayak brother. I appreciate you doing a review on it for us. I could definitely agree with you on that it was a wet ride alright. But if it was warm outside I know it felt good. I really like the fact how it holds you well man. Me and you are both the same in weight and height so that tells me how well the boat handles. That's funny how you try to add 100 Ibs to your self brother. I don't think you want 100 extra Ibs brother. I used to weigh 390 lbs & I'm so happy I lost it. I just wish I could lose some of this extremely wide foot I have. It's not easy trying to find Footwear for a foot that is 6 1/2 inches wide. Good video brother thank you for sharing.

    The Lynx handle chop and wind well, but its problem is coming back in if there are real waves, you have very little control on any steap waves coming back in.

    Objectively, you didn't seem to encounter much sideways waves how is it when the wave hits you from the side? Very interested in buying this kayak and the low front sucks but at the same time all the weight savings and such seems great and worth the trade off because most days I'm not in swell conditions per sé

    • @southernsalt
      @southernsalt  2 роки тому +1
