Navarre pier is a gem location. I have been visiting Navarre twice a year for the last 5 years. Best pier fishing I’ve ever been to in my life. From Kings, Blackfin, Bonita, Tarpon so much to catch depending when you’re there. The local pier guys are so respectful and everyone just gets along. If you get the chance, definitely hit up Navarre Pier!!!
It has been a lifelong goal of mine to make it into one of Beach Bums videos. If you squint hard, in the back with a green jacket & the red beard, at 2:46 .... My dream has finally become a reality!!!
Try smoking that Bonito. They're so oily and strong tasting that fried or broiled is inedible to many, but smoked makes a great trail or cocktail snack! Really nice looking fish, congrats.
Goodness that is extremely madness! Props to everyone keeping their cool and being able to fish next to each other. I don’t think I’d be able to do it without being tangled with everyone’s line and pulling the fish up. Beautiful fish y’all have there. Galveston fisherman here!
Thanks for the segment at the end talking about the gear you were using. Can you confirm what blank your pier rod was built on? I need to build myself a heavier rod for pier fishing.
I used to fish Sebastian inlet a lot in the 70’s and 80’s it was never that civil when the bite was on. At 65 I just don’t have the temperament for that anymore.
Dang. I can't imagine anyone getting upset with you guys. All you guys love the same sport just like the rest of folks on the pier. Besides there are tons of fish to catch. Great video Matt. Appreciate the work you put into your channel.
3:00 dude, you should bleed it out at tail and gill asap and put it on ice. Do ikijime if you can. THe fish is partially warm blooded so it's literally souring up after a hard fight and blood and adrenalin pumping through the fish.
This reminds me of fishing on Fraser Island in the 80's and 90's, when the taillor (bluefish) were running during winter. Wall-to-wall mayhem. It was nice to see some actual surf.
Always learn a little something. Bummed that I have gotten to try out any of my new found knowledge, but heading back to Ft.Myers the first of Dec. and no hurricane this time. Just hoping that the beaches there are cleared up some since Ian. Hoping Nicole didn't mess ya'll up to bad.
Great video Bama and Brad. Hope you keep it up. Y'all didn't get affected by Nicole, so all the best fishing is your way. Pure pier chaos, but you navigated it well.
Bama, that's not bad at all, you literally stand shoulder to shoulder in cadence with the others down stream when bank fishing for salmon on Washington state rivers. I hate bank and pier fishing so much I bought a fishing kayak. The other nice thing about fishing from a boat is you don't have to worry about bears sneaking up on you and stealing your catch (in some areas).
I'm a little confused over the "Carolina rig" thing. When I was bass fishing while living in Florida, a rig that had a sliding bullet weight was called a Texas rig. A bullet weight that was pegged above the worm was called a Carolina rig.. it didn't slide up the line. What books call the sliding egg sinker with a "stop" above the bait to give a space between the bait and the sinker, is called a drum rig. Thoughts?
I think you got them mixed up, weight pegged above the lure/hook/worm is a texas rig, although some people dont peg it and let it slide. When the weight is stopped by a swivel or knot at least a foot to keep from sliding down the leader to the hook, thats a carolina rig, in both bass fishing and saltwater. Some grouper fisherman also use whats called a knocker rig, which is a carolina rig but no stopper so the weight can slide to the hook, although this is simply so you get less tangles when dropping the rig during bottom fishing.
@@DxWhoopingCrane I admit, it's been quite a few years since I lived in Florida and bass fished,, possibly got the 2 terms confused,, but still know that the rig used for drum fishing here in NC is a sliding sinker above a swivel/leader/hook and is called a drum rig. What I've heard as a knocker rig is where 2 swivels are incorporated with a short span of line/wire with a sliding sinker between them... correct?
@@ncoutdooradventures6148 Theres alot of local variation to names, but both rigs you described are generally called carolina rigs in my experience. In the gulf, the knocker rig is a carolina rig with no swivel blocking off the sinker, so the sinker can slide all the way down to the hook.
@@Southern_Taurus_ I do hear ya but man Ive seen the best of us with crossed lines or a biggun wrapped round a pylon so enough of the idiots cause if you tell me you havent then youre full of BS. I would just rather get in my boat, catch all the fish youre talking about and not have the hassles yeah. 👍
Good vid, hey don’t be hating to much on them custom builds, use to be the guys at OIP didnt take you seriously until you showed up with a Rod you made and and a old mitchel or a 706 manual bail and your own pier gaff. Miss hanging out getting to know everyone. But when the blackfin show up you keep it quiet as possible otherfise your getting burnt off with crazy hook ups lol.
good job bro, could you please tell me the fishing rod brand in this video? Is there a link to buy, please Can you put links to buying fishing rods next time?
Let’s use a little common sense for a second if you’re open to that. There has been nobody on that pier for a month straight then on Monday 2 tuna were caught and posted on Facebook and Matt’s video was filmed the very next day. It’s not hard to put 2 and 2 together.
Na, ride over to sebastion inlet and fish when it's popping off. That's crazy. I can't handle dealing with that many people at once so I find my own fish.
Not my fav fishing, don't like it in the zoo. Most fisherman are good folks, but there are some...... well. But some folks can only fish a pier. Give me a slow day on the beach versus a fast day on a crowed pier any day.
I'm really impressed how respectful all the fishermen are with each other at that spot.
It is a great community
A true fisherman knows respect , law of the land

You guys need to come out on the boat its been a blast trolling the beach.. But its been ruff
Looks like a normal day at Sebastian inlet
Exactly

You couldn't pay me to fish in that tangled up mess. I'm all about solidarity when fishing
I strongly agree!…
Amen
My brother and I was there yesterday! We caught Ladyfish, Ramora, and needle fish. Its one of the longest piers in the country. .03 miles long!
Where is this pier?
@@Petergalvan navarre beach pier Florida, which is right between Pensacola Beach and Destin Beach.
Here in the Fall/Winter, we are side to side on the piers fishing for Spots. It's chaos, but everyone gets along.
THANKS FOR SHARING ANOTHER GREAT ADVENTURE ON THE PIER! OBX'ER HERE...
never thought i’d see eddie hall and david spade fishing together 😂
Have 100 xrap style blanks just like the one you showed. That pearl white and red head will definitely see me painting 15-20 in the color
man I have never seen fisherman on a pier be so respectful of each other. keep living your dreams. God Bless and stay safe 🙏

Dungeness crab fishing @ Pacifica Pier, California probably give this pier a run for its money.
One day I counted 400 people
Salmon season on the Oswego pier in upstate NY is elbow to elbow way worse than that
Nice Setup for the Pier Fishing... Excellent... Congrats
Never seen waves like that on the Gulf . That Low evidently was the perfect storm.
They picked that side so the current wont take them into the pileings

Thanks! Very helpful video! (As usual!) tight lines!😊
Great! I Always support your channel!
Just like Pacifica pier in San Mateo Co. during the salmon season.
That first fish was super nice! I thought Bonito was only a Japanese fish, but after googling, I see it isn’t. Cool!
1088 is Rainshadow. Thrasher Rods is the RAW 8100 series.
I think it's funny you Bama guys pass by two other piers to come fish here at Navarre.

That Bonito is a good cut bait a very good bait in south africa. We use for sharks and rays .
During the kingfish Tournament it's total chaos on that pier
Liking the beard brother. That's a very crowded fishing spot. Keep the videos coming 👍👍
was a great look as my future is in that area - Thanks
That's really cool catching offshore pelagics from a pier. That crowd must have been difficult.
I use the X-rap for walleye it works well.
Great video as always, caught some good looking fish 🎣🎣

Can you link that fishing trolley you have, cant find those in australia

Wow our Galveston Fishing Pier don't get that packed in Texas! Lol 🎣
Hahaha the amount of people. It reminds me of the circus at a place called Burts Dam we get every October 😂
I live in Corpus and fish every pier. I've never seen one that crowded. And I'm mystified at how you're not constantly tangling with other lines
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha, it’s a convention of fishing carts, like a car show on a Saturday night! 🤔
In Pacifica California there's a fishing pier that has up to 400 fisherman on some days
Holy cow and I thought my spot was packed😂

It’s extremely cold today… not too many people on the pier right now
Be good to the tourist fisherman we just want to come and hook up on some these monster fish that we dream about.

I would never fish in that sort of place. With so many great options we have to fish why go elbow to elbow? Crazy.

Brant has made like 6 videos out there already and you wonder why it’s packed
I can promise you with every person on that rail this day, you’d be hard pressed to find one there because of Brant’s videos.
