Simple solution: Hire comic book writers to write the movies and keep the activists out of the writing room.
A lot of comic book writers are activists
Yeah, superhero fatigue is a myth. But bad superhero fatigue is very real.
It always blows my mind how movie companies and even gaming companies make super awful movies or games, then literally blame low sales on everything except for the fact your product objectively sucks. How is their IQ so low? Is common sense that hard to use?
Exactly. Those companies are filled with plain idiots. Such dim-witted morons. How do they even run behind-the-scenes, I reckon?
MCU and DCEU fatigue is 100% real though
Well said. It's not a question of volume, it's a question of quality.
Short version, The MCU's writers have been producing unusable fertilizer for years now.
Snarky just vented her MCU anger, I felt the same ❤😂
I’ve echoed what you said 100 times! Why hire people who have never read a comic book and/ or know the source material when there is literally 60 years of killer stories to draw from?!?
One of the most impressive things about early MCU was that they were able to generate 3 banger movies a year. For the most part even the worst movies were “just ok.” Cutting down on volume cuts down on audience retention. They just need to do 3 good movies a year and no cheap streaming shows.
There is no superhero fatigue, there is a Bob Iger and Kevin Feige fatigue.
Bob *Chapek
Superheroes fatigue is a big bunch of BS. Writing and content is what it should all be about as opposed to “the message”. Great video as always
Firing Jessica Gao and her team at She-Hulk was their first good move. Second should be to do the same to the others.
Disney needs to fire the lot of them.
I loved she hulk set this year in 2024
This is a great plan if it goes back to focusing on quality content instead of quantity
I like your brutal honesty... somebody needs to give Marvel & Disney a reality check
Its not superhero fatigue, its garbage tier movie fatigue
Nailed it!! Well said on every point. People loved those movies because they were entertaining and allowed you to escape the real world for several hours. No one wants to be preached to for 3+ hours.
Right now the only Marvel content that's keeping me on the edge of my chair and wanting more is X-Men '97. That stepped the game up high in terms of the writing, animation and story telling while honoring the original comics, the 90s animated series and keeping it fresh and current today.
Superhero fatique is an excuse used when movie companies can't connect with the audience.
I read a great description of woke media the other day: "Woke media replaces character with identity & storytelling with ideology." Until that changes all these wacky studios will continue to fail & they can do so without an interest from me whatsoever. Cheers jay.
"superhero fatigue" is just a cope for their garbage output. They will never take the blame, and even will blame the fans for their mistakes.
I just want Thor coming down via the byfrost screaming BRING ME THANOS !!!!! 😂
That to me is literally my favorite entry scene in the whole MCU.
I hear Bob was big mad that they didn't make Thor say " bring me sparkly nail polish"
@@dontgiveinfo lol big facts !!
Solid intro, and solid video. I wish Disney listened to you. They sure don't listen to us viewers. And as you said to Disney: "Hire good writers!". .... not people with agendas who know squat the story they are writing/directing.
There definitely will never be fatigue from me, with your content.
I agree this needs to be written well to the point that we need to care about the characters
Thats right, its not super hero fatigue its more of like, "i'm tire of being forced to watch garbage"" fatigue. I just want a no agenda movie with great story, great character build up, and great villain. Overall entertaining. Is that so hard to ask?
I hope Deadpool can break this.
Right on. Absolutely with you. I like my entertainment as entertainment… I’m not paying to be preached to or giving money to companies the despise me and my values.
Disney got rid of all their story tellers. All that they have on staff now are "activists". The creative talent is pretty much gone, leaving only pretenders who are living off of the noxious fumes of the fetid corpse of what was once Disney. They have reached the end of their respective fanbases patience and good will. It'll be interesting to see how they get out of this one.
Wel said Jay!! +1 You go girl!
"Superhero fatigue does NOT exist!"
THAT part.
Another amazing video Snarkyjay ❤❤😁😁.
Damn! Snarky Jay took the gloves off on this one. Saying loudly and proudly what all of us are thinking. She made damn good points on this episode.
Iger literally said the same thing with Star Wars when Solo bombed... but that didn't happen for long, so this too with Marvel will be quiet for maybe a few months to a year but ramp up again if it finds a potential cashcow... aka Marvel's "Baby Yoda" moment
Disney was in a different place when Solo bombed though. Most of their other movies were doing well. That's the same year of Incredibles III. Now it's a reasonable guess than many Disney films will underperform at the box office.
I love your channel. Always spot on.
100% agree with what you said here! Thank you for expressing what a lot of us are thinking.
Happy Friday Eve Jay! Too little too late...
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Everyone was complaining about Disney putting out too much content and called it “comic book fatigue”. Now that Disney (the good management that gave us Phase 1-3) is focused on quality instead of quantity everyone that was claiming comic book fatigue (when it was mediocrity fatigue all along) are now switching up their narrative. *sigh*
I blame Bob Cheapcheck for all of this 🤣
Can you give us an example of this switch we could all look up. As far as I know one group of media critics(who are not fans) think whole genre is played out and mainstream normie audiences have moved on just like they did with the Western and the Musical. There is a second take by fans not media critics who still believe in the genre but complain about the poor content(She Hulk), ill judged content(Moon Knight) and agenda driven messaging ( derails every single project since Capt Marvel). They want better films and not quickly churned out dross written by activists. Conflating two different takes from two different groups.
@@raymondsmith6870I watch this TJCS UA-cam show faithfully and have interacted with many of the subscribers. Whenever a question about “comic book/superhero fatigue” would be asked every other person would have mixed opinions. The host would tell us that it’s a myth, but bad movie fatigue is what it actually is. Every time Marvel puts out something bad, fatigue; every time Marvel puts out something good, MCU is back.
So when I hear or read threads on other platforms denouncing that there was never “comic book/superhero fatigue” and that it was bad movie fatigue I scratch the record player on the switch of that narrative. What I’ve been told in my interactions debunking the notion was completely different from what the new narrative is now.
Nope! For me, it WAS fatigue. I was done after Endgame. Haven't watched anything Marvel since. My only knowledge of what's going on stems from certain UA-cam channels I'm subbed to.
@@Jab-Cajun91 What has Marvel put out that has been good lately? GoTG don't count. that was written before Gunn got temp kicked out for being weird with small children, Spider-Man no way home? That was SONY telling Marvel don't make it weird. Werewolf By Night? that was done by a true artist that put some sprinkle of DEI. So What has been MCU good lately?
@@dontgiveinfono, no. We’re not doing that over here! GOTG 3 and Spider-Man NWH DOES COUNT! This is what I’m talking about switching narratives. Why exclude the good projects just to make your point sound legit?
Love to see it…extra Snarky!
Omg I Love You Snarkyjay 💘 Always pointing out the obvious. We need you to fix the Marvel verse!
Amen Jay! You are always on target!
Wow, you took the words out of my mouth
Thank you. I've been thinking this for years now. don't have a platform. Star Wars, Dr. Who, Super Heroes... people want good content not garbage but these studios won't admit they've been making trash, it has to be the consumer.
Loved the Padme quote she casually threw in there. ❤
Amazing video keep up the great work
You nailed it snarky Jay. I’m almost 50 and you know what when superhero movies came out when I was a kid they may have been bad they might not have been great but you know what they were in event. They were something that people looked forward to. I long for the days when a superhero movie came out that I actually look forward to. Superhero fatigue is bullshit. Bad movie making is what people hate. I love movies and I go to the theater to see movies and I buy movies on DVD because I want to escape the bullshit of reality, I want something that is going to, make me happy, make me forget how fucked up the world is. Comic book movies used to be those for me. This is not what is happening these days. I never thought I would say this, but, I am too old for this world. And I don’t think I wanna live in this world anymore. Movies used to be something that made me happy, and at the end of the week I could go on a Friday night to a theater and enjoy just some escapism nonsense, that’s not happening anymore. And I’m fucking tired of it. Keep doing what you’re doing young lady.I like how you call attention to all the bullshit and the nonsense, and you should disregard any bad comments you receive. Just keep doing what you’re doing.
What is the insignia on your sleeves? Looks familiar but can’t figure it out.
Well said 👍👍👍
Well said!
Great video
Absolutely spot on. My wife and daughters and I along with my three sisters and their entire families used to go to the opening nights of all marvel and Star Wars movies until they turn to shit now we can wait weeks if not even waiting until it comes out on Disney+ before we watch any of these movies anymore they used to be a family tradition that Disney destroyed.
I agree somewhat. I don't think preachiness or fatigue are necessarily the major issue (though both are there) Trying to do the Infinity Saga over again was a mistake. Pulling that off once was incredible. Chances of doing it again... slim. If they had focused more now on individual stories in a shared universe it would have been much smoother over one big crossover in my opinion. Also would have helped get out of Cap and Tony's shadows. I think that was the biggest issue IMO. Plus keeping up with every movie was easy enough but throwing in shows too was messy.
Extremely well said!!! Hit all the right points!!
I would love to see you on FNT someday, you would fit right in with the Fellowship.
I completely agree with you, Superhero fatigue doesn’t exist, shitty movie fatigue does exist. I’d like to have hope Jay, but under the leadership of Bob Iger, it’ll never happen until someone new comes in and puts their foot down on all the woke agenda and gets rid of that crowd at Disney
I can quite happily go back and watch IronMan 1 again, and quite often do. I think what's very telling is how toxic it has become in the background when you have actors like Chris Hemsworth and Paul Rudd saying they aren't interested in playing the characters anymore.
We're you trying to reference padme with the going down a path I cannot follow?
Jay, this entirely justified rant had more real passion and was more enjoyable than any recent Disney productions.
(I miss the walk)
If u dont listen to the people, u lose the people.
Comic books are what made Marvel great. The storytelling, I was so hooked as a kid. The MCU movies can sometimes be watered down crap.
As usual youre on point Ms Jay you hit everything i believe right on the nose
Marvel Studios itself said that it wants to cut back on content to focus on quality, so he is just going along with the it.
Bob Iger and the board investors should have a zoom talk with Critical Drinker, Geeks & Gamers, Nerdrotic, ect. That would fix alot of Disney's problems and get them back on track.
Snarky Jay it would be nice to see a review of X-Men 97 from you.
Hey SnarkyJay out of all the comic book characters , which would you love to see in theaters? But it can't be DC comics or Marvel comics or The Crow.
This woman is so beautiful! Intelligent, articulate and hard working !
My gosh what a woman ✨✨✨✨🌹✨✨✨✨
So true!
The three movies and two shows last year flopped (Though I would defend Loki S2) do coincidently fall into the model Iger has outlined moving forward, but they were already in play as remnants of the Bob Chapek ramp-up of Quantity over Quality. Then were delayed due to the fact that they knew they had lemons, and then further delayed by the writers strikes.
"Hulk Smash" xD
❤ Snarky in black. Preach baby girl, we just want good films popcorn fun and action.
You are correct. It isn't the amount of content but the quality.
Barbie is considered a "woke" movie, yet it grossed $1.446 billion, was the highest-grossing film of 2023 and the 14th highest-grossing film of all time. Demographics indicated : 66.2% female with 74.6% under the age of 29.
X-Men 97 seems to have them back on track. It’s definitely got me excited for more X-Men….
0:59 lol hell yea
Love your content, you are SO right. And you are so pretty Snarky Jay ❤
Do a review of Dead Boy Detectives please
You go girl 100% on point .This is all the truth you speak Thank You 😁😁
Quality Bob, quality. Very clear and accurate assessment
I totally agree with you 💯 percent, your totally right Snarky
So well spoken. Hopefully deadpool and wolverine will be great. Looking forward to it. Agreed, just make the stories comic books lovers enjoyed when they had great writers and no hidden agendas. Cheers
100% agree with everything you said, only time will tell if they pay attention, I still have hope after seeing the Deadpool and wolverine trailer
I do have Marvel fatigue..I stopped watching most movies that wasn't the main Avengers and even then I only watched them because I didn't pay the ticket.
Jay I would not tell you return to Disney + for it but , if you have a friend that still has it … X-Men ‘97 is as a critic we both follow says AWESOMETACULER 🖖🏾
3 movies per year is LESS?! LOL. I remember when you'd get 1 movie in a franchise every few years at most.
Yep
I agree with you assessment 100%👍
I would rather one movie a year.
It's about the Writing. IT'S ABOUT THE !@#$%^4 WRITING!! Thank you Snarky. You hit the mark 100%. No more preachy ideology. No more "THE MESSAGE". It's Quality. Not Quantity. Get Good Writers if you want Good Movies. 🙂
The last Marvel thing I saw was spiderman. Before seeing it I watched the other spiderman movies. Was great fun.
X-Men 97 is crazy good you really need to watch.
The true problem is that Marvel got greedy by insisting on creating three movies for every character, especially characters that were not as relevant to the Avengers finale, mainly characters, who, in their comic book form were "D-list" characters at best, like: Captain Marvel , Ant Man, and Guardian's of the Galaxy (of which Drax and Gamora were originally part of Adam Warlocks Infinity Watch - not Star Lord's sidekicks). They should have made one Ant Man, one Captain Marvel, and one Guardians movie, instead of flooding the screens with watered down movies that only served to dilute the MCU for a little extra coin - which now is hurting them.
I really don't believe there's some hidden agenda they're pushing but I do believe the quality took a massive hit because of the quantity being released or the fact that they just got to comfortable after Endgame
Couldn't agree more 💯
Disney cutting down to the number of CB films released in the 90s. If they can’t make good quality Marvel films and shows, my suggestion to Bob Iger, get writers and directors who know or sell Marvel and Star Wars.
They're losing money so they have to cut down. I am sure he knows it's been bad, but in his position he cannot and will not ever admit that.
Even if Deadpool & Wolverine succeeds in the box office I fear it won't make a difference but glad we getting less Marvel content with even less woke agendas
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was good but it didn't change Marvel direction. Now the problem is inconsitency.
Deadpool pushes a lot of woke agenda stuff.
@@LetsGetitBoahDeadpool has some woke attributes, but it doesn't "push" a agenda.
He's pan sexual, because it's funny that he'll stick his ween in just about anything. However, when it comes to relationships, it's always with a female.
He's got split personalities, but again it's funny when he's arguing with his chat bubbles. Also, it makes his fourth wall breaking make sense whith other characters around. He's not depicted as stunning a brave because of his disabilities.
It's fine to have gay, trans, or whatever characters, if it makes sense and its not their entire character. However, Disney being Disney I worry about how they will handle it. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned it into Brokeback Xmen in the least. Hopefully Ryan, Levy, and the writers were given enough say in the production.
Amen.
Well, good luck for Mehvel Studios trying to "cut back" because they skipped to the modern era where the IPs have been tanked by abysmal writing and character assassination, poorly handled deconstruction tropes, and chasing the current trends as their equivalent to placebo treatments.
It's bad superhero movie fatigue.
Nailed it!
Have to disagree on one point. I kind of wish that Marvel actually tried to tell a story with a subliminal message that I could ignore and still enjoy the film. The problem is that they have a heavy handed message that pounds you on the head and you can't ignore no matter how hard you want to.
"Heavy-handed message" = "message I don't personally like."
cant agree more
Well Said Snarky 😁😁😁
Although I agree with a lot of what you're saying, I do think there is a general fatigue with superhero movies, I see it in my everyday life, whether the movie is good or bad people are just not interested in seeing another superhero movie. That's normal though, there has been so many of them for the last 14 years or so, the Superhero genre just needs to take a break for about 5 to 10 years or so, doesn't mean there can't be a few every now and then but a break is needed, the general audience is getting a bit tired of them.
*Siiigghh* Anyone remember when Marvel cared more about quality over quantity?? 🤨🙄🤦♂️
