Oh my gosh! I have a bunch of embroidery CD’s that belonged to my Mom before she passed. I inherited her machine and have been quilting up a storm but have been intimidated by the embroidery. I popped one of the CD’s into my laptop a few years ago and didn’t know what to do from there. “When the student is ready the teacher appears.” You are a blessing Becky!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! You are such a brilliant person to "take the time to show" (us embroidery people) how CD's move files from CD to a laptop. I never new I could do this.
Thank you! Great tutorial refresher! Organizing my embroidery files is something i need to work on, it can become a mess if you dont. I love that you always keep us current in the tech world.
Thank you sew much for sharing your technology knowledge in such a simple way for those of us who grew up before the technology age was a thing! I never fail to learn something from your tutorials.
Becky, you are an awesome person, so kind and so good in what ever you do. Thank you for teaching people like me to understand a little more about computers. wish you could teach more on the DX scan n cut machines. Love everything you do. Thank You Louise G
Becky you are the best. Thank you so much I just can't Thank you enough. I did buy a CD reader per your suggestion just like the one in your tutorial. You are a life saver You are a Blessing for sure
Thankyou Becky. I think I might go ahead with the windows 11 update now. Are you happy with it? This was so very helpful. Could you do one on the Thumbnalil.
Good & concise way to introduce those that aren’t familiar with transferring files…. I’m so used to just doing this , I forget that others might not do this on a daily basis. My sister and I spent yesterday scanning shapes into the scan n cut …then bringing then into simply appliqué…then cutting fabric shapes and finally using Embrillance to get rid of hidden stitches…tested the stitch outs too! We felt so accomplished we joked we’re ready to start our own UA-cam channel… and we laughed and we laughed and we laughed! All thanks to you girl!
Thank you for the tutorial, very informative. Is your Brother WiFi capable? Does Brother offer a Data Base transfer software to move designs to your Brother thru WiFi? Game changer. Baby Lock has this and it’s FREE!
Thank you. I always learn something from you. Does it work the same on a Mac laptop? Also, how do I go about getting designs I buy online to my laptop. Thanks, Becky…you are the best!!
Yes, the process is pretty much the same for a Mac. I've got an older video showing how to download files from an embroidery site on the internet. I go step-by-step for beginners. This works the same for all online sites. ua-cam.com/video/gslRMZA7VuQ/v-deo.html
Becky I have some very old CD’s which won’t open. Do you have any idea how I can get them off. Someone said to me if it was from the time of the window Xp I have to have a older computer to do that, is that true. I do not have anything but a Window 10
Usually, today's CD readers can read backwards to older CDs. It shouldn't matter which operating system created the file so no matter whether it's Win XP or Win 7 or Win 11, it should all work. The problem is not that the CD won't open, I suspect is an older operating system on the current computer that won't perform properly for some reason. Recommend taking the CDs with a USB drive to a computer repair place and ask them to move the files from the CD to the USB stick. They have the ability to make all that work.
Can you take a cd with designs and end up putting them on a floppy disk for a Designer 1 with floppy? I have a pc not a lap top. but have a add on floppy reader and built in cd player.
I was just watching a utube video by Joy Bernhardt. She mention her friend Becky then spoke of “Power Tools With Threads”. Joy was talking about wearing t- shirts. I guess she knows you for many years it sounded like.
Becky, I have had several embroidery design CD's given to me. I was able to create a folder for embroidery and copy any jpeg files and open them but I cannot open anything that has PES next to it. What am I doing wrong?
You are not doing anything wrong 😊. The PES file format is not native to your computer so it does not know how to display it. You need a utility like Embrilliance Thumbnailer in order to be able to see PES files. If you drag and drop that PES file into any embroidery software you will be able to see the design as well. You can get Thumbnailer here bit.ly/3j8aKej
Not usually. I keep my primary designs on my laptop and then also backup My Documents folder (and my Embroidery files are in there) on a cloud service.
Yes. The steps are a tiny bit different, but the process is pretty much the same... Create a home for the new files, bring them up on the screen, highlight them, copy, and paste them into the new location. Using Win 7, you won't have the copy/paste icons like Win 11. You'll need to highlight the files and then Right Click on them and a menu will appear. Navigate to Copy and click it. Then do the same in the new window where they will live, Right Click, and Paste.
Worse explanation. You had to Many other things going on re: erasing etc Make another video with just each step disregarding what you have on your computer.
Many viewers have needless files on USBs and don't know how to delete them. That's why I left those 3 seconds in the video and didn't edit them out. Hopefully the rest of the video was helpful to you. If not, I'm sure another search on UA-cam will help you out. Thanks for watching!
@@PowerToolsWithThread I’m just so frustrated like the other person you talked about. All videos show how to use a stick but my machine doesn’t have a port for that only the cord that came with the machine which I bought from a lady. I apologize for being rude.

Yes, Brother has the Design Database Transfer and it works on both Brother and Baby Lock machines with network connectivity.

Joy and I go way back. She is the one who got me to start my UA-cam channel! My husband and I just had lunch with joy and Jerry last weekend.😊

Great lesson.

Hi there! Can you tell me if Simply appliqué is Mac compatible?
I replied to your email to me. Thanks!
Thanks, very helpful!
DO YOU COPY ANY OF YOUR DESIGNS TO YOUR EXTERNAL DRIVE TO SAVE THEM THERE ALSO?
Not usually. I keep my primary designs on my laptop and then also backup My Documents folder (and my Embroidery files are in there) on a cloud service.
