They both make excellent, similar performing irons as do all the manufacturers. There's very little to differentiate on performance anymore, it's just what you as the player like
Just put in my order for the ping i525 irons, coming from the ping g410’s. Can’t wait for them to come and I hope to get a few rounds with them before winter starts. I’m a 9 handicap and was honestly ready to move on from the somewhat chunky g410’s, to a thinner and smaller head. Super excited for them! Don’t think I’ll ever be able to use any other club other than ping!
Went to a Driver Day at a local course. Fell in love with the Cobra Radspeed XB. Can't wait to give their irons a try. Is it time to retire my Big Berthas?? hmmmm... 🤔
Great video. I play the cobras off the back of your review and love them. Would love to see you compare the WILSON IRONS (cb & d9) to the big boys in the market. Overlooked I think!
I purchased a set of Cobra ForgedTec irons this year and love them. I don't hesitate to recommend them to anyone that asks. My only negative: The Arccos tracking system is rubbish. It requires a mobile app at all times, which uses your phone's microphone to listen for the high frequency pitch from each club's sensor. It misses more hits than it records. Reading forums, my Arccos experience was not unique. It was truly an awful user experience. I'm going to re-grip my ForgedTecs at the end of the season and won't miss the Arccos for a second. Looking forward to giving Arccos/Cobra Connect a Viking funeral.
The 716 AP2’s I game give me help in the longer irons while still looking great, would be interested to see how the ping looks in comparison. Love my AP2’s I won’t change them until the break!
I have just bought a set of the Cobras and love them. I got them because they felt better and in the simulator my dispersion pattern was really good. One thing my fitter did that really helped was to try me with a shorter shaft. With half inch under standard I was much more consistent with delivering the club face with the correct lye angle. It feels great to hit a 9 like I used to hit a 7. But now I have 5 clubs in my bag described as wedges!
Mark, would like to see the Cobra against the WS D9 Forged. I would wager the looks and feel would be more similar but would like to see what you think.
Just got fitted for the pings to replace cobra f6. Didn’t test any others as I had my heart set on the pings. They look so good. 160 each tho so not cheap!
Hi Mark. Great content over 2023 and now into 2024. It would be great to see an update on these head to head with the new versions that has been introduced over the past few months.
Really like my i525, though I only have a 4 iron above my i210s, and it does spot on what I want. Distance off the tee, with a lot of forgiveness. It is clicky off the face, but given my use I really don’t mind it, as it’s there as a power tee club.
Ping or Cobra! tested the i525 and put it up against the Mizuno 223. I actually preferred the i525 and the “feel” / “sound” was fine with TP5 ball. I would describe it more as a thump. I currently game MP20 blades but seriously considering making the switch to the i525 and they do give you some pop and forgiveness
Started the year with ping. Preordered on a whim. Wasn’t for me. Went to a fitting. Ended up being between 2022 cobra forged Tec mizuno 223 (didn’t give me the 225 don’t know if they had) and p770. Cobra won out w mizuno close second. Played phenomenal first round w the cobras with the stock shaft.
I've got the 22 standard forged tech. Coming out of Mizuno 921 tours and ZX7s before that. The Cobras are the best hands down. Sound, feel, control, they are just outstanding. Did hit the Pings, sounded slappy and like hitting concrete.
Ping and Cobra are my 2 favorite brands in golf.. Man Mark it's really hard to choose between the 2 for me.. but if I absolutely had to choose i would say cobra just because I've been wanting to get the forged tec irons for a while.. but anyway great video as always Mark‼️
Currently using the i525, and there was a notice in the box with a link to an Arccos website where I could have a set of 14 Arccos sensors shipped to me. I don't know if you can do this with individual clubs, because I bought a Ping ChipR yesterday and when I scanned the QR Code on the sticker that was on the club, The website basically said "too bad, you already have a membership" (which I did and canceled). I have several Cobra King Utility clubs (look similar to those irons) that I had fitted with the same shafts as my Mizuno MP 20 HMB's and they fit nicely into the set.
Currently own the Cobra Forged TEC in copper finish but I’m debating on buying the ping i525 as a spare set or I might pass my cobra down to my nephew as he is slowly getting into golf
I played forged cavity back irons for the last two decades, but this year, I tried both of these irons to gain back some lost distance. I too preferred the Cobra's feel, but the Pings seemed to be more consistent with dispersion rates and flight windows (although this may have been due to different weight shafts). Hitting the Pings higher on the face makes quite the clanky noise for sure, and I just could not get past the overall clicky feel and sound of the 525s. For me, however, neither felt nor looked as good as the TM P790s. Both the Cobras and the Pings were a bit longer (stronger lofts perhaps?), but for sound and feel, the 790s seem to sit somewhere between these two and provide plenty of distance - I gained at least 10 yards per club on average. I would say try them all if you can - but get the right spec shaft for your swing. I tried the 790s with S-Flex at 120 grams, but when I went down in weight and flex and that made a huge difference in yardage gains for me.
great vid. I love the look of these but a player that needs help more than wanting a blade is the Forged tech as good an option to the LTDx / RAD irons? Please compare
You need to check out Sub70 Mark. Very affordable, great performance. Tbh would love to see one of the "UA-cam" channels work and play more with Sub70 (not just Lester) rather than going with the bigger OEMS.
I was fitted a couple of weeks ago and tried both ping and the new conrad's. For me there was no comparison the cobra"s where amazing, they where more forgiving and went further than the ping"s. Picked up my new cobra"s last week and they are amazing
Would be interested to see a review on comparing how much a game improvement iron like the ping i525 compares against the same lofted club in say a i210 for how consistent the distance control is. If you are not struggling for distance then how much do the game improvement irons actually help you, are you better off knowing what exact yardage you will get from a iron?
I've been struggling with my woods so I've just using my irons in my league play. I am currently swinging the G400's so I have been looking at the i525's to get a bit more distance. Most importantly off the tee due to carry requirements over hazards. My best round was two weeks ago from the Blue tees at 2935 yards and I shot a 39. So I'd say I would game the Ping i525's! Thanks for the review and all you do Mark.
@Telegram only 👉@MarkCrossfield So a follow up question would be is switching from the G400 to the i525 a reasonable more for a higher handicapper that has actually improved his game? Thanks Mark.
i525, had a chance to game a 7 iron for 3 rounds (own clubs lost by airline) among a half mixed Ping set. What has improved from i500 is the "spinsistency" i.e. didn't get one jumper which were 1-2/10 with i500 so definately gamable. Cobra is ok also. Would like to see some DTC brands comparisons between them and against big OEM's.
You should compare the p790s / t200 / mp 225s - they are all in this category. I think the mp 225s have a “cleanest” look within the category (they don’t have the screw on the toe).
Well MrCrossfield, I just spent 15 minutes wondering which are best only to have you ask at the end which one would I choose and why: I needed your expert opinion.
"Ping or Cobra", both seem excellent, just how the feel for you really. Not sure I want a 7/6 iron to go that far. Much more used to normal distances when I hit shots. Am I loosing out?
Play one set ping G410 and one set One Length Radspeed Cobras. Hard to say what’s the best set. The cobras are very forgiving but right now the PING set works best for me. A lot of people witness about the forgiveness in PING clubs and I can really feel that too.
Currently looking to upgrade my irons and the ping i525 are very tempting but.........as someone who is new to the game (couple year) playing a 23 handicap (which is dropping g every round I play) I'm fining the sheer choice available a bit overwhelming........ 😅 When I first started I got a fitting at a well know golf store in England (93 store here apparently!) And had a terrible experience. Over 100mph CHS but was given a senior flex shaft. So I'm reluctant to go back there. Think I need a weekend with someone like Mark just trying every club possible haha
Any chance of revisiting the Cobra Forged Tec One Length irons? I know they have fine tuned the lie angles since their introduction. Curious if they are easier to hit and bunch up less in the long irons than the original King Forged One iron.
for what its worth, i had cobra forged one length after having regular ones......i guess im not a fan of one length. i found the gaping and flights as good as i could have expected and better than previous tries at one length(sterling) and early cobra. so yeh id give the tec a thumbs up...just not for me.
I gamed the Cobra forged irons in Copper in 2021 they're so solid. But during my recent fitting the look sound & feel of the i525 really just felt Sublime. The Pings arrive this coming Tuesday 🌞
Why did you choose to compare the 2021 version of the Cobra Forged Tec vs. the 2022 version? I had tried both these clubs in my recent search for new irons. I found the Cobra 2021 version better for me than the 2022 version. The PING did not work for me and the delivery time was really long. However, I ended up buying the Wilson D9 Forged. Softer feeling, tighter dispersion than the Cobra, and both gave me the same distances. And Wilson was even less expensive than the Cobra.
They both make great irons. I play i210 irons so I definitely lean towards Ping. Ping irons look better than Cobra's usually. Cobra has a tendency to put excessive amounts of branding on the back of their clubs which just looks "shouty" and cheap, Ping keeps it simple which is always a look I prefer. As Mark indicates, Ping does need to look at the acoustics right across their club range. My i210s sound fine but I also game a G425 5w and that is LOUD, on a range with enclosed bays it is so loud it is off putting not just for me but also usually for the player 2 bays down! Finally we need to factor in price and manufacturing quality control. Here in the UK the Cobra is £100 cheaper for a standard set. Against that the PIng manufacturing quality control is better than anyone
Hi Mark, I have been gaming the Cobra Forged Tec Copper for the last 12 months. I have just also got a set of the Ping i525’s. I can agree entirely with your review, the Cobra’s off the face sound fantastic where as the Ping’s do indeed have a “Clippy” sound. I have the PowerSpec in the Ping and I am seeing very similar distances. I only purchased the Ping’s as I am not a lover of KBS shafts.
PING or COBRA. I fancied a switch to COBRA (from my P790's) as they look a bit more forgiving. I like the fitting options on PINGS but not the cutaway in the hosel. Got my handicap down by oractising wrist angles, face control, swing plane etc on the range. I do feel I could benefit from a slighlty bigger head. My mates SIM2 A wedge goes further than my PW, I JUST DON'T KNOW (help) 🤯
Ping all day for me. Love their style. Gamed the iblades but changed because I had the wrong shafts (x100). Now gaming titleist Ap3, would love to see a comparison between Ap3 and t100s if possible. Considering a change and would like forged if not too much difference in yardages as I love the strong clubbing you get with Ap3. Great review as always, cheers. If you ever fancy some links golf in Ireland let me know 😊
When i purchased the pings were not available. I did try the forged tec and thought i was going with those. Then i tried the srixon zx5 and the mizuno pro 225. I thought the cobra felt good with a medium feel and a bit of a click. Then the srixons were very nice and the mizuno were amazing. I ended up with the mizuno. The cobras i got was too many rockets. I hit the ball high and the cobras were very very low trajectory.
Can you please, please, please do a comparison between the Ping G425 and a Ping G25/G30. Really interested to see if there is any real difference over the years.
Got fitted for the Ping i525's today. After hitting 10 balls I was reaching for my wallet. Lovely club, going for the UST Recoil graphite shafts. I've never hit a 7 iron 160 yards before. The 4 week delivery time can't go fast enough!
I switched from the F7's to the Forged Tec's. The lofts are similar, but he F7's are a little more forgiving and higher launching, but I prefer the looks, sound and feel of the Forged Tec's
@@mikeb3835 thanks. Over the past 30+years of playing and having just about every brand of clubs in the bag, I'll say it really doesn't matter what you have. If you like the looks and it performs well for you....then hit the links and just have fun.
Cobra’s new forged tech is a much better looking club head than the one you tested, great video. I don’t know if cobra changed the internals of the new shape though, maybe test the new one.
I still can't understand how the Corba King MIM Tour Irons aren't in more players hands. They are such a great iron. Forge Tecs always gets the attention.
I do like the sound of the Cobra. I think that would be my winner in this case, though I do like things to look traditional I think that as my eyes start to get worse I’ll probably care less and less about that. LOL. I do say, if you’re gonna play the road hole with that pin there maybe you should just do the Jack approach and go short on the right being the miss and letting it roll on. =P.
To anyone thinking about this style of iron I have a few things to say. 1. The Pings will definitely age better (that's price and the way they physically look) Cobra irons and wedges look heavily used in not very much time. 2. The Cobras have already been updated by the new Forged Tec irons and they look about a thousand times better than this variant. 3. I would 100% recommend the Wilson staff D7 forged over both of these. They are actually more forgiving with incredible looks. The feel of the Wilsons is unmatched in this category. They can be found in 4-PW with premium KBS shafts for around £500 brand new.
Hey Mark, Have you hit those Cobra Copper MG forged.? I really appreciate you evaluations because 1) your consistent in your club reviews 2) you have hit enough different brands to do a fair comparison across the board. The top line on the Cobra club is unbelievable. I have a very old set of Muzinos (TC-29), that I keep going back to, they are offset, the Cobras are not. Not sure these are the clubs for me just yet… how are they on mishits
I love my one length Forge Tec as well. Once you get your head around the wedges being longer they are great. My gapping is really good now they sorted the loft and weighting on the one lengths.
They both make excellent, similar performing irons as do all the manufacturers. There's very little to differentiate on performance anymore, it's just what you as the player like
Been using the forged tec in the bronze colour for a couple months now. Love how they look and they feel and sound amazing.
Just put in my order for the ping i525 irons, coming from the ping g410’s. Can’t wait for them to come and I hope to get a few rounds with them before winter starts. Tested all in this range p790 came out best for me in testing now loving my new set 4 to pw
Possibly 2 of the most underrated iron brands. I've played cobra amp forged irons for years and they're the best irons I've ever played.
The 716 AP2’s I game give me help in the longer irons while still looking great, would be interested to see how the ping looks in comparison. Love my AP2’s I won’t change them until the break!
Love my cobra irons! I personally prefer the look too over the ping
have you tested the new wilson staff d9 irons, be intested to see what you think
I game the i525s with the Project X regular flex steel shafts and I love them for the looks and forgiveness.
I have just bought a set of the Cobras and love them. I got them because they felt better and in the simulator my dispersion pattern was really good. Mark, would like to see the Cobra against the WS D9 Forged. I would wager the looks and feel would be more similar but would like to see what you think.
Or the Wilson CB or blade model.
I like the, ‘clicky’ feedback. It confirms when I occasionally hit one in the sweet spot. (Ping 425 irons).
Just got fitted for the pings to replace cobra f6. Didn’t test any others as I had my heart set on the pings. They look so good. 160 each tho so not cheap!
I own the PINGs and I'm Very Happy with them!

Traded in ping i525 for 22 forged Tec. Literally first round hit my first hole in one. So I’m very bias now and pro cobra !
I have the I 525 and love them
The copper forged tech look the best imho, but as others have stated would love to see comparisons of the new forged techs...
That is the old clubhead for the cobra. New cobra slimmer topline and some tweaks.
Interesting to see if you could do a new forgetec Vs old maybe a mega test of all the hollow faced clubs or p790/70 s etc
I’d have to put the Mizuno Pro 225 ahead of the Ping in looks and ahead of Cobra in sound/feel. IMO
would love you to review the new cobra forged tec irons , doesn't seem to be many reviews on them
Let's Play Thru posted a review of them today. They look sweet.
I've got the 22 standard forged tech. Coming out of Mizuno 921 tours and ZX7s before that. The Cobras are the best hands down. Sound, feel, control, they are just outstanding. Did hit the Pings, sounded slappy and like hitting concrete.
How do these compare to the Mizuno MP225? I reckon the 225's give nearer forged blade feel and sound and are full of help.
Long time Ping iron player, until Wilson introduced the FG Tour's, I settled on the F5's
Ping and Cobra are my 2 favorite brands in golf.. Man Mark it's really hard to choose between the 2 for me.. but if I absolutely had to choose i would say cobra just because I've been wanting to get the forged tec irons for a while.. but anyway great video as always Mark‼️
Do you not have the lasest Cobra Forged Tec available yet in the UK? Those are the old ones.
I have hit the Ping i525 and could game them. But I have some major problems with the cut away at the hosel. 👀⛳️
Currently own the Cobra Forged TEC in copper finish but I’m debating on buying the ping i525 as a spare set or I might pass my cobra down to my nephew as he is slowly getting into golf
I played forged cavity back irons for the last two decades, but this year, I tried both of these irons to gain back some lost distance. great vid. I love the look of these but a player that needs help more than wanting a blade is the Forged tech as good an option to the LTDx / RAD irons? Please compare
If we factor in cost I feel the Cobra is excellent value for money. Great revue Mark👍
Why the old forged tec and not the new ones? Just curious.
My thoughts exactly
Probably didn't get a new Cobra demo
You need to check out Sub70 Mark. Very affordable, great performance. Tbh would love to see one of the "UA-cam" channels work and play more with Sub70 (not just Lester) rather than going with the bigger OEMS.
Because they won’t have sent him them for free
I was fitted a couple of weeks ago and tried both ping and the new conrad's. For me there was no comparison the cobra"s where amazing, they where more forgiving and went further than the ping"s. Picked up my new cobra"s last week and they are amazing

Both good looking irons, cobra does sound great, don't think I could pick without hitting them...hmmm, something for this weekend maybe
Well MrCrossfield, I just spent 15 minutes wondering which are best only to have you ask at the end which one would I choose and why: I needed your expert opinion.
Cobra F7s were a really good set. I’ve got a set of G400s now, so far so good
Cobra for me but admittedly I've always been a Cobra player with the exception of the old TM R7 irons; currently gaming the TEC X irons.
I loved the R7 irons I had. Still play the R7 CGB max 3&5 woods 😂
Cobra all day. The amount of Cobra stuff I have is ridiculous. I'm still using the Forged Tour irons.
"Ping or Cobra", both seem excellent, just how the feel for you really. Not sure I want a 7/6 iron to go that far. Much more used to normal distances when I hit shots. Am I loosing out?

The heads are the exact same. No need to review the one length. It just comes down to do you subscribe the idea of one length irons or not.
I gamed the Cobra forged irons in Copper in 2021 they're so solid. But during my recent fitting the look sound & feel of the i525 really just felt Sublime. The Pings arrive this coming Tuesday 🌞
Got mine July 19th 5-Aw love them make sure to pair with glide 4.0 wedges 🎉
@Metta HD
I gamed the i525 last week for the 1st time. Love them glide wedges & Chipr 🤣 for fun ⛳️
@@marcluciano2748 Nice! Well $3,000 later we can have fun now lol
I’m switching from the Titleist 716cb to these 525s. Give me the distance!
Great irons, transition of power bats in to wedges must be a challenge
Mark r u going to review the forged tec X ?
They both make great irons. I play i210 irons so I definitely lean towards Ping.

Finally we need to factor in price and manufacturing quality control. Here in the UK the Cobra is £100 cheaper for a standard set. Against that the PIng manufacturing quality control is better than anyone
i210 player also. One of the best irons they’ve produced for years

Leaning Ping! Thanks for the great video!
Just bought the tec n just love them.
Can you please, please, please do a comparison between the Ping G425 and a Ping G25/G30. Really interested to see if there is any real difference over the years.
Do an old vs.new compare srixon z965 vs. Zx7 always great video keep up the good work
Got fitted for the Ping i525's today. After hitting 10 balls I was reaching for my wallet. Lovely club, going for the UST Recoil graphite shafts. I've never hit a 7 iron 160 yards before. The 4 week delivery time can't go fast enough!
BTW....I have King cobra.....great club ....Tore off the ARCOS
Why use the 2020 Cobra's when the new model has been out for some time now? Having had both there are definite improvements.
New Forged Tec X vs ZX4...🙏🏻 Any plans Mark?
I have the ping g425 and wonder how these i pings compare numbers wise to the g425’s.
I have the cobra F7's in the bag and am interested in how much difference it is between the different models of Cobra.
Off-center hit technology and much stronger lofts, TEC 8 will go farther than your f7 7 iron on equally stuck shots.
Ping usually does not make the most pleasing sounding irons. Good engineering, but usually not the best feeling.
Nothing beats the feel and sound of a lower scorecard, who cares what clubs feel like.
A lot of us care about sound and feel.
Would like to see Ping I525 vs Callaway rogue ST Pro
What are the 4 White dots on the club face for?
Cobra any Day, because of the Sound and feel, the smoothnes When you flush a strike is amazing
Got the cobras lovely things ✨️
Mark 👋 plz test the Takomo 101's there's a few UA-cam channels looking at them, ive followed you since the start so I trust your opinion cheers Mark 👍
I still can't understand how the Corba King MIM Tour Irons aren't in more players hands. They are such a great iron. Forge Tecs always gets the attention.
Can you get hold of the new forged tec?
Why are you using the 2020 Cobra Forged Tec model for your test instead of this year's model?
If you're swinging near 100% during the final test here, what % is your stock iron swing for consistent strike?
I do like the sound of the Cobra. I think that would be my winner in this case, though I do like things to look traditional I think that as my eyes start to get worse I’ll probably care less and less about that. LOL.
I do say, if you’re gonna play the road hole with that pin there maybe you should just do the Jack approach and go short on the right being the miss and letting it roll on. =P.
Are the 525power and retro just bent from std loft or different designs
To anyone thinking about this style of iron I have a few things to say.
1. The Pings will definitely age better (that's price and the way they physically look) Cobra irons and wedges look heavily used in not very much time.
2. The Cobras have already been updated by the new Forged Tec irons and they look about a thousand times better than this variant.
3. I would 100% recommend the Wilson staff D7 forged over both of these. They are actually more forgiving with incredible looks. The feel of the Wilsons is unmatched in this category. They can be found in 4-PW with premium KBS shafts for around £500 brand new.
Cobra have a new version of this iron. Would prefer to have seen the new version in this comparison
Not the Ricky F series.
Actually looking at Mizuno 223 or Wilson CB,
what old (15+ y/o) irons you would've put in your bag?
Ping or Cobra. I find the big font on the Cobra irons off-putting. If I was to choose between these two I'd go Ping.
Ping or Cobra. If I had to pick one it would be the ping. Purely on the thinner top line.
Not sure why you did this comparison with the old forged tec model?
the answer is pretty simple, MIURA !!! :-)))
Ping. Can't afford new. Got Rapture V2's which I've regripped. So good high draw, very forgiving and powerful.
If you use a soft ball the sound isn’t an issue!
Currently using these cobra irons in the 1 length
Been great irons for me and have great distance without having the random stupidly long one
I love my one length Forge Tec as well. Once you get your head around the wedges being longer they are great. My gapping is really good now they sorted the loft and weighting on the one lengths.
@@roberthughes1973 yeah must admit I have them down to gap wedge but probably gonna get a conventional gap wedge
If a tough one but I’d have to go for Mizuno 😉
I believe the answer is Mizuno
Would have been a better comparison with the 2022 cobra model instead of the 2020
