I'd be really curious to see a review of the one length variant of this club. The thought is they've been improving gapping and flight characteristics with each iteration, so I'd love to see if that's actually the case. And based on the specs on their website they actually reverse the lie angle from what standard would be kind of like what Ian was suggesting - the 'long' irons have a more upright lie and it gets progressively flatter through to the wedge. Love the work you guys do!
I would love to see something as well around single length.
Ordered 5-PW in OL. 5-7 in standard lie, 8-PW in 2UP - all bent to 63*. Cobra was willing to send unbuilt and uncut shafts. Installed LA Golf L-Series shafts. Dispersion is tight, distance is solid. Key is to pretend that you have 6 @ 7 iron. They just happen to be different distances.
Great review. I ordered a set of Forged X. To me “Workability” is way too far overrated. I want my shots to go straight and have the easiest time doing it.
Absolutely workability ( unintended heavy drawers and slight fades) is exactly what I am looking to avoid!!

Cobra Mims are my favorite iron shape. I always had a soft spot for the Mims. They are almost identical to Nike Vapor Pro Combo, which I consider the best shape irons ever. And I game Miuras. Thats how high I regard Cobra Mims; Im hoping these are like then. Mims and Wilson Staff are criminally underrated.
I game the MIMs..got them this year after my brand new Apex fell apart at the end of last yesr and the store let me pic a new set. The MIMS are so much better IMO...im almost now all Cobra..MIM Wedges, supernova putter, Radspeed Driver...just need to replace my callaway epic flash 3 wood and 3 hybrid
Mac, it is completely unfair how talented of a golfer you are. The things I've seen you do on this channel but also on your other social media's with slinging the ball just insane amount is nuts. After 3 rounds under my belt, I love these irons. Specifically with the added weight of the s400 shafts. They help my swing immensely. Dean is the man!
Tested this club and loved it. Even more than Mizuno JPX Forged.

I play the 2020 model and have for 2 years. Got indoor fit for the new 2022s: same specs and build but I personally had better numbers: strike location, peak height, descent angle, etc. with the older model. I also was able to test them outdoors for a day side by side and confirmed the numbers. The new model is more player-type for sure and require more from me: having a slower swing speed could be a factor (85mph 7i). For now, the 2020s remains the better choice for me.

I just watched an iron fitting at the new PGA Superstore in Rockville, Maryland done by fitter Chad Stocks. He was working with a young stocky strong man with good swing speed. Chad ended up putting him into these exact Cobra heads with a KBS Tour lite stiff shaft. The client was getting about the same results as Mac's best, ball with one or two even better. His strikes were just a couple of dimples toward the toe as opposed to Mac's being toward the heel. The shaft came out on top of about 8 that were tried. What really caught my attention was that while this 7 iron has a very strong loft of just 29.5 degrees, the hitter got not only remarkable distance but also height plus an outstanding descent angle of over 51 degrees. So the engineering that has gone into designing this club head means the ball will not only go far, but will stop on a dime once it hits the green. And this Cobra 7 iron gave the hitter 30 yards more distance than he could get with his present 7 iron. Impressive. At the end, the hitter purchased the clubs, 5 through gap wedge. Compared with other sets the price was economical. I have been playing classic forged blades Mizuno MP- 67, Mizuno MP-33 and now Chicago Classic (very similar to MP-33) for the past 25 years. But I am now 81 and my 36 degree 7 iron wit a Rifle Lite stiff shaft carries only 130 on a good shot. I have resisted giving up forged blades as a matter of ego and some stubborn idea of purity and art. But the numbers don't lie and these Cobra heads ticked all the boxes, length, height, spin and descent angle. If these Cobra irons and a lighter regular flex shaft can give me back the 150 yard 7 iron carry I had 20 years ago it would be a huge benefit in terms of reaching greens and which tees I can continue to play. So i booked a fitting for Friday. We shall see. May not be able to afford new clubs immediately, but this will definitely show me what I should be playing. Guess its time to open up my mind and evolve.
Really waiting for these forge tec to come to Thailand in 3 months time. Had the gen2 black with AMT S300 black shafts n they are great, forgiving n soft feeling despite it being a cast head then

Just got fitted into these irons with the new KBS Tour Lite shafts. I went thinking I would walk out fitted into either the Mizuno Pro 225 or 223. Fitter sneaked this head in and I love this combination. The new KBS Tour Lite was not availble from Mizuno or I still may have ended up with the 225s... who knows. Cannot wait to get my hands on them in a couple of weeks.
Ditto. Tested the 225 as well but in “ blind” hitting the Cobra was feeling better and more forgiving (for me). Very happy with my purchase.
I actually adjusted lie angle on my current set of Ping Gmax irons to be the same from 6-GW. I settled on 63* as that seemed to be the sweet spot for hitting it straight with my 8 iron on the yellow dot. 6 and 7 a bit more upright, then 9/P/G progressively flatter to match. It really helped keep the P/G from going left, and kept the 6 from starting too far right.
Was never a Cobra Iron fan, until now. This is a good looking Club!!

This cat is so talented. I'm a 5 handicap. Not super long but long enough and this guy hits the same irons i would be hitting with his non dominant side. If i had to give righty Mac a shot or two i would have my hands full.
Great to see this, guys. I'm haven't seen too many reviews of this new line, which surprises me a bit. I have ordered 5 and 6 iron (with Nippon 950 GH R) in these to complement my PXG 0211 STs in 7-PW. Love the reduced offset and compact shape, but with plenty of help with the hollow body and weighting. The slightly rounded sole also works very well for me as a picker - a lot of irons in this category have a wide, flat sole, and it doesn't seem to work for my delivery.
I have the older model and I really want the new set. Forge tecs for me are just flawless.

I have a set of the Cobra Forged King One Length irons (2020 model) I have been messing around with and they are a lot of fun, this new version seems very promising
interesting point on the lie angle. I play my irons 2* flat to ensure a one way miss. One reason I play the G410 in driver for the flat setting. Same thing looking to take out the left side of the course.

Tried these at a recent demo day. Agree with the characterizations of the head size, shape offset. I just found that there was no feedback at all on where I hit it on the face. Pretty darn sure I didn't middle them every swing. Nice irons but not for me.
That's interesting. There was a shot or two in the video when Mac said he didn't know where he hit it.

Good break down. Playing the 2020 version and like a lot about them but they are a bit bulky. Looking forward to giving these a go tomorrow and see if they have made enough improvements to upgrade to them out of the old line

Traditionally single length irons are supposed to have all on lie cobra adjusts it throughout the set as they say people unknowingly swing fast for the lower lofted clubs but others like Edel and Wishon have the same lie throughout it would be cool to see a review of those. Especially Eden’s as they have a different shaft for lower and higher lofted clubs I would love to see the effect on ball flight as that is a major concern for some who switch over to single length.
I am very intertested in them. I play older Mizuno MP-64 and Cobra Driver Hypbrid. I feel like i need something with a little more forgivness and a touch more distance. I prefer the slim top line and little to no offset.
Would love to see these against the Cobra King MIM Tours !

One lie angle is probably the most golden thing I think I’ve ever heard Ian say, I recently did a gaping session and discovered that I hit the ball the best when my lie angle between my 4 iron and my 50 are 3/4 a degree off from each
Once I get a little better I’m going to get fit for some irons and these are definitely on the list of clubs I want to test
You should get fit no matter your skill level.

Lol, this video was 2 years ago!!! I don’t know what I had for dinner last night never mind something that happened on a video 2 years ago. I watched the 12.25 mark back again, the club looks absolutely fine to me.
Tried these in the shop, tbh i wasnt hugely impressed by them, feel or look wise for sure and the performance wasn't a standout.

Where would you consider the cut off is on the short iron ? 6 or 7 ? I got the 6-gw all 2*up. Somebody told me that these cobra irons(tec x)are a little more on the upright side to begin w/than say the jpx 919 hm's ?
I have titleist blades and was thinking of trading to these for some forgiveness.

I’m still playing Adams UC-10 irons and they aren’t constant/consistent lie angles. No idea about their other lines/series but the for the UC-10, no.

you'll have surely noticed micah is playing with a lot less left turn with the forged tech.
i went the same route a year before micah because Callaway have a tendency to go left way to much, some of it is offset and some being lie angles.
cobra also have the toe weight to keep it straighter for those of us that have a tendency to overdraw our shots.
Put it head to head with the 223's.
1 iron golf (single length) do the same lie angle for all of the irons.
