The amount of charisma Erica Durance has is so unmatched. Lois Lane was unabashedly herself and you really saw Clark shine with her. Erica and Tom were a masterpiece together.
There are different ways to play lois Lane and yes, she is one of them
I admit I am not a huge Superman or Lois Lane fan. Yet, Tom and Erica are by far my favorite versions of those two characters. Charimsa for sure.

Tough call there, I'd put Amy Adams just ahead, and Elizabeth Tulloch and Margot Kidder just behind, though Kidder was limitied by how film dealt with strong female characters at the time. And everyone so far ahead of Teri Hatcher that it's embarrasing how bad her Lois was.
I really love hearing these kids of stories! Erica’s debut as Lois Lane was nothing short of amazing. Her portrayal of Lois was fierce and charming. She captivated you and her on-screen connection with Tom was electric. Erica is the greatest Lois Lane.
The adoration and respect they have for each other is amazing to see for my favorite version of Lois and Clark. That romantic banter Tom mentions was palpable from the beginning. Erica really made her mark as the best Lois Lane next to the classics.
Erica Durance was just amazing in Smallville!! Her take on Lois as sassy, tough, brave and kickass was perfect!! Nor to mention that she was gorgeous and has such a wonderful personality!! Her chemistry with Tom was immediate, they just are wonderful with their romantic banter!! She was such a positive addition to the show!!

In all honesty Erica has been the best portrayed Lois Lane to date. She literally was the perfect combination of Margot and Teri, but with her own style, and when her and Tom were together, it was pure magic. Unmatched chemistry. It looked so easy and legit for them to be Lois and Clark. I'm watching season 9 right now and I just wish they had had, and were currently having, more and more screen time together. If they had had their own subsequent series, GAH, it would've been amazing!

@@wellesradio yes she was. But we are talking about Talkville. They did Season 4 Episode 1 on Wednesday and a lot of us Clois fans were hoping they would invite Erica to join them. After all, it was her debut on Smallville and she is Lois Lane!
@@cherylebbs2079they’ve said she’s coming on soon. Personally, I’m glad she didn’t do the premiere because she did the commentary for 401 on the DVDs so it’ll be cool to hear her talk about another episode :)

Agreed and I've seen every major version of Lois lane. The only version of lane that's a match or better is the Lois lane of DC comics 1990s the books that lead to the world shocking and blockbuster in sales brutal fight and death of superman comic(wow this event even made cnn news and all the channels), his return that lead to Clark finally marrying Lois. Erica is that good.😊

I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that Durance stood out above the rest on a show with truly talented and absolutely gorgeous actors. There are some people who simply blossom on camera, and she was one of them. Woman with a brain and drop dead gorgeous.
I think a good connection between actors is required to enable the magic to happen🙂and it certainly happened in Smallville 🤩

Her version of Lois took time to click but once it did we were off to the races. I think 1 aspect of smallville that was a failure was Lois and Clark getting together. They had no chemistry and the way they discovered they liked each other was clumsy

I always got a good vibe from Erica on the show; she was perfect IMHO for the role of Lois Lane. Loved the way she performed as that character & she & the show did a nice job of displaying how smart she was, mischievous she was and of course beautiful too - all in a very classy way that was good for the story. They showed human sides of vulnerability as well sometimes - I always rooted for her. Great job.

Thanks for doing the podcast that focuses on Smallville. I loved this show when it came out and occasionally I go back and watch the series. I have watched to whole series about three times now. I have started watching it again. I grew up with the Christopher Reeves Superman. Being a comic book geek, My favorite Lex is Michael, My favorite Superman is Tom, and my favorite Lois is Erica. They felt more real to me as a comic book geek with a ton of Superman comics I can tell you guys were great!
The best Lois Lane ever portrayed in media. Hands down. So loveable and snarky, and beautiful.

I still believe Erica is the best Lois we’ve ever had and we’ve had some great Lois Lanes. Teri, Margot, Elizabeth, all great but I just feel Erica just had it all dialed in.
I know there's a lot of #Smallville Fans who didn't like the introduction of #LoisLane in season 4 and before #ClarkKent got his job at The Daily Planet, that's fine as that's your opinion, but for me I liked that they introduced Lois Lane in season four as she really spiced things up for the show with her high energy and attitude, plus the #Superman universe is fictional so the writers can put her in whenever they want, plus #EricaDurance was awesome as Lois Lane and the chemistry she had with #TomWelling for #Clois was amazing as well and this is one of many reasons why Tom and Erica are my most favourite Clark and Lois pairing apart from #ChristopherReeve and #MargotKidder who are my og Clark and Lois pairing, yeah people say that Clark and Lois were poorly written, were forced and had no chemistry in the show but in my opinion I think the writing for Clark and Lois was pretty good, I never felt they were forced at all and they had great chemistry together as well. 🔴🔵👍🏻

Yes, absolutely. Ms. Kidder will always be my Lois Lane, but with regards to TV, I have to give it to Ms. Durance. She was a perfect Lois Lane on Smallville.
My favourite aspect of Clark and Lois on "Smallville" was with the exception of Chloe, everyone saw how fantastic they would be as a couple and that Clark and Lois mutually didn't like each other at first.
Erica was good so was Kristin Kruek! Amazing Sacrifice episode a day wonderful cast! I just finished 10 years of Smallville again.. Fun memories indeed!

It would be great if DC would bring Tom and Erica back for a movie or even a few. As someone who grew up with Superheroes I found it hard to find one that really fit as easily as these two, they clicked for many of us. My favorite memories was watching Smallvile with my daughter and we still get together occasionally and watch some episodes.

She’s my favorite verison of Lois lane in my thoughts when she’s got into season 4 I was like ok I have feeling she’s gonna be same Lois from any other Lois in other lores of Superman but when I saw her and kept watching the show I was like ok she’s literally different now and fun Lois I wanted more lois like Erica did it but nobody can be better Lois then Erica was in this show and that’s saying something lol.
But I also was expecting Lois to come in years Clark was in the daily planet but they somehow made it work with Lois being in the early stages meeting Clark in his high school years I guess.
Guys I watched each and every episode in a row during my uni days and Erica was my crush at that time
Tom and Michael, you both should do some episodes of the show Reacher so it will feel even more like a Smallville reunion! I miss seeing you both on screen, and Michael once again could play a formidable villain!!

Christopher Reeve made me believe a man could fly, but Tom Welling is hands down the best superman, Rosenbaum is the the best Lex. He didn't have to say he was a great mastermind to make you believe it. & Erica is the best Lois Lane. Great cast, & nobody was, or ever will be better. Just my opinion 🤷

Erica quickly became my favorite character on the show. There were times I felt it was such a shame that the show was called Smallville and not Lois and Clark.
Yes! I wish they would’ve transitioned to a Lois & Clark type show and just renamed it “Metropolis.” It feels like the showrunners stalled and wasted a lot of time in seasons 5,6,7.
And then they gave Lois stupid storylines to give her something to do. I hated the Grant (her boss/editor/Lex brother clone) love interest 😑

Really enjoyed ERICA'S portrayal of lois lane. SUPERMAN needs his LOIS LANE just like LOIS LANE needs her SUPERMAN to work. Together, they are a dynamic duo. Lois LANE biggest challenge isn't always being married to Superman. It should be who's working in those NEWSROOM. Wish there was a more diverse RANGE of stories of what goes on at the DAILY PLANET. What do people want to see on the news. Or read in the paper. Why do you watch the news ? WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE NEWS ? What if the biggest VILLIAN Lois LANE had to face wasn't LEX LUTHOR. It was someone who didn't RESPECT women in the newsroom. This is a man's world not a woman's. Now that's a big challenge.

All respect to Margot Kidder and Amy Adams (who delivered more than fine performances) but Erica Durance for me remains the definitive Lois Lane. Smart, sexy, irreverent, ass-kicking but vulnerable, with terrific chemistry with Tom Welling. Iconic.
I'm glad Michael mentioned wanting to be attracted to someone that's going to be a love interest because, while I understand it's a job and a certain "professionalism" that comes with that, if the two actors kinda have a thing for each other, it seems like it's going to come through more in all the scenes they do together because they get to use that feeling to inspire the acting.

He can be as nice and polite as he wants, but Erica Durance is by far the worst Lois ever to appear on screen. And given that Terri Hatcher was one of them, that is saying a lot. Her and Sam Witwer were the worst things about the show.
