I've been a Journey fan since the 70s (I'm 61 now), and this is in my top 10 of all time. It wrenches my heart because it's how I feel about my husband. He's in the Army and gone an awful lot (the most recent was Italy for 3 years) and he still makes my heart skip a beat.
I'm 62 and when I got a tape player in 1978 the first tape I bought was Journey Infinity and have been hooked since then. When my daughter was 12 I was taking her and 3 friends to a party and Open Arms comes on the radio when I hear all 4 singing along with the song. Fast forward 20 years and the same thing happened with my granddaughter (she was 7). His music is not only universal but also timeless.

Steve Perry's voice and Neal Schon's guitar are, in MY opinion, the most potent one-two punch in Adult-Oriented Rock history. Maybe even in Rock history. They fed off each other's energy and their songwriting skills together are just fantastic.
Please listen to I Stand Alone, a solo by Steve Perry. It's part of the soundtrack from Disney movie Quest for Camelot, and Steve even had a role of the voice of the King in the movie. One of my favorites by him.
This is a proper song. The bar is high for current singers. Amazing voice, musicians, melody and lyrics. The real package of what means to be a great band or singer to live forever in the music industry no matter what year is. 😘👏
That untouchable, invincible voice. And an incredible power ballad, many years after he departed from the band. To truly love a woman is as beautiful as this.
