Have you been to St. Michael's lately on Jackson's Row? A big hole. It is possibly the biggest excavation in Mcr ever. It's the foundation of St. Michael's Tower. As one landmark regretably disappears another commences.

Thank you for your coverage. Pity it's going. It was a landmark. What do you think will replace it? A car park? A heavy rail station? You will know about the "Northern Hub", the government's plans to end the sad rail bottleneck at Piccadilly and wider. This included two extra platforms (15 & 16) at Piccadilly and the line in question in your views, from Ashburys Midland Junction to Philips Park Junction on the Stalybridge line (just out of view). Only the Ordsall Chord was built when the government back tracked. They had promised to build and pay for the whole thing but their promise is so far unfulfilled. The line past the City Campus was to be upgraded to mainline standard and electrified for Sheffield Liverpool expresses etc. Ordsall Chord which is a white elephant without the rest, sadly sees about one train per hour in each direction. Derisory. The line to Stalybridge has been electrified so wouldn't need much to upgrade so people could travel long distances to the Co-op Live Arena and stadium, just needs the authorities, if they're truly interested in Net Zero, to upgrade the line to passenger standards again. You may know just behind you was Park Station on the Stalybridge line which at least could be reopened as the Campus has been built and only a fifteen minute walk along Briscoe Lane. Important developments. English Heritage have objected to Viadux2 (the largest residential building in Europe 76-storey part). It was due a decision over whether it gets the green light three weeks ago. Two days ago two construction schemes were due for approval/disapproval. They were the Percy Brothers Hotspur Press Building on Cambridge Street. To retain the 1806 (Pre-Peterloo) premises, a public square by the Medlock and a huge student tower. The other scheme is the Jadebricks scheme on Charles Street next to the Maldron Hotel, another student tower. Most towers are deliberately aimed at students or ex-students, undergraduates and graduates as that is the chief motor of Salford's and Manchester's towerscape.

Thank you for the update! 😀👌 Rather sad to see it go. What's going in it's place? Greenery? Car park? Heavy rail station for the Campus? Two important decisions this week. Council to decide whether two projects go ahead. The Hotspur Press Building on Cambridge Street, restoration of 1806 building with a public square and a student tower attached. The Jadebricks project, another student tower on Charles Street. Please take notice. One project unlikely to go ahead is the Vision tower on Whitworth Street West. Groundwork had been done but apparently the receivers have been called in. Be interesting what happens to this plot and if a similar project can go ahead.

Look great but the rents are very high and I feel youngsters starting out will struggle to just get by never mind saving for a home, the bubble may burst one day and these may be next slums, should build decent houses at fair rents (not ‘market value’) for our next generation of young people

Jon thanks for the update! 😁👌 Square Gardens is one of the most aesthetically pleasing developments. Mcr is going through a phenomenal change, much-needed. The green building next door, 5, First Street is underway. The Government as part of Levelling Up is moving staff from Whitehall. His Majesty's Treasury has an office in Darlington. Mcr is a big recipient too. 5, First Street is one example, being built for the Government. Another development is the old Central Retail Park site on Great Ancoats Street which is going to be a Digital and Data Centre for the Civil Service. Much appreciated that you are cataloguing it. 👏

I think it's marvellous. Sure it had some teething problems but when you're cutting edge environmentally and technologically it's not surprising. It's neat sleek design will complement the Family Stand enlargement and Stadia improvement. 👏

Thanks regards your interest. 🙂👏 Please note at 1.02 Fusion have started their Deansgate SouthStudent Tower with Domis doing the groundwork so another student tower will be constructed, in terracotta-colour. Please note Salboy & Domis plan the largest residential tower in Europe at 76-storeys as no doubt you are aware, as part of Viaduct2. A, swimming-pool and facilities already exist under the viaduct for residents of Viadux1. Two weeks ago their public consultation ended and they formally lodged their proposals with the city council. Last week the application was given a first hearing apparently. Mcr & Salford are almost going through the same convulsion of building currently as they did in the 1700's_1800's.

It's cutting-edge for environmental, technical and acoustic design, so deserves some slack. It will open when it is ready and will be a landmark. 🌿☘️🎶
