How come this is the only video i can find, that says NOT to fill your diffs with oil of grease? Every other video explains the effect on the behaviour of your car bij filling the diffs with different types of oil, etc. Its kind of like the opposite of what you are telling in this video. Correct me if i am wrong.
When I’m telling you is not to fill the cavity that your diff lives in, if you do, your oil will just leak out. You can add a little bit to your gears to prevent them from chattering.
Oops. I filled everything with THICK yellow grease from an industrial grease gun on one of my 124017 wltoys. The gearbox, the diffs, the diff houses. The car sounds unhappy even without the wheels. Do you think it can cause any damage to the car?
I want to somewhat lock my diff on a crawler with open diffs (Smasher v2). I plan to use red N tacky, is that what you used? Does it lock up pretty good?
@@keldonatorif you want to lock up your diffs, you need to fill em up with thick silicone oil. The lithium grease goes outside of the diff. It's to lubricate the connection between your front/rear diffs and the drive train and/or the pinion gear and the center diff. Diff fluid is basically the same stuff that also goes inside your shocks. It's just being sold as diff fluid once it goes above a certain thickness.
So basically the grease is just too quiet down the gear noise and totally unnecessary if it doesn't bother you.
Pretty much yes.
@djsprc ok thank you!
What about differential fluid in your differentials? Many use different fluid weights for various track conditions.
