Now this last thing i been doing this the r/c hobby for a long time. But for the last 15 plus years i charge my li-pos at full capacity and put them in the freezer. some i have had over 10 years or better some a little less old. but never have i had any issues with them. in fact a large group of us do it as well. At our lhs they do the same thing. I am down in the desert area where 115 is not uncommon to see. If you have heard of Ridgecrest then you know where we are. So keeping a cold battery is common. when we get them out. we let them sit for 20 mins to an hr. but usually by the time we get to the track or bashing spot the batteries are at temp. and pack as much of a punch as they usually do. the last thought i have for others. always make sure you clean the dust out. clean it good. we have a very dry dusty area. and micro rock and other sizes they get up inside and really do some damage to the insides of the r/c. I got a brand new truck every thing sealed. fun 1/6 scale truggy fun enjoyable. Maiden run today. I had so many tiny little rocks took me a while to get them all out. so i disconnected the fans took them out and blew the heck out of every thing. just as i thought i was done a few more would drop out so i hit it again. got it nice and cleaned out. but little tiny rocks are a real pain. so make sure you clean well. John, are you sure you're using a LiPo battery? The most basic battery & charger included with Traxxas vehicles are NiMH batteries, not LiPo. NiMH batteries are a bit easier to manage and require no additional storage charging like a LiPo. Instead, charge the NiMH battery when you want to play, and use it in the truck until the battery is dead. If you're done driving, leave the battery in this "dead" state (NiMH's are very happy here). When you're ready to drive again, just charge the battery and use it... that's it. LiPo's are different in that after driving, they should not be left in the "dead" state. Hope this helps, and please figure out what battery type you're using... -Brett

@am12eaz93 pretty good. Broke a shock tower running into the tree in my yard like the second time out. Haven't been out in a little bit cuz of the heat but I have metal diff, spur gear and aluminum motor plate upgrades to install. Proline trenchers tires. It's running on ZEE 6000mah 8c batteries. The only issue I've been having is when I turn it on sometimes I have steering but no throttle. I've heard I only need to rebind the radio to it but I haven't had time to, let alone do the upgrades. It's a blast for sure tho and my dogs love it.
#10?? Ummm let's see... got into RC about two years ago... started with ONE Horizion Ruckus... now have 10 Traxxas cars, an Arrma Typhon 3s... yeah... it's a NICE rabbit hole...
Protip I learned as a teen. Trucks with the fake roll cage in the bed of the truck behind the cab work great for holding bottle rockets. I would just lean them forward over the cab and could aim them and drive it away before they would go. Black cat is the only brand to mess with at least back then. That was a store brand RC truck with a removable 4 AA battery pack. I loved that truck! We beat the crap out of it and it held up well. We even would drive it down the wood stairs lolol. Disclaimer: This is strictly for adults who have the proper permit to use bottle rockets. Always follow local laws. This can be very dangerous.
As far as batteries go i just got my first hobby grade RC the Haiboxing 16890A and it came with 2 Lithium ion batteries and Haiboxing told me to charge the batteries every 7 days or so and store them at full charge ! But everyone else tells me to store that at like 50% charge witch way is the right way to store them ??
The possibility of blowing debris into your bearings goes way up when using an air compressor. It's not critical with bashers, but I'd avoid it with a proper race car. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies That's one reason why air compressors have pressure regulators, even the cheapest ones. Just turn the pressure down. You could even turn it down lower than a can of air would provide.
RPM plastics will bend but most of time not break and brushless power systems have longer run time. You could upgrade the bearings to sealed bearings "fast eddies bearings" are awesome. Metal axles are great, MIP, HotRacing to name a few or if the brand of rc you bought has upgrades buy those cause it takes out the guess/research work to find what works and what does not. You could do none of that and just buy extra stock parts and just have fun. Almost forgot, you can buy a screw kit which changes all screws to the hex-head or "allan-head" screws that are waterproof.
I'm 5 cars deep now and some are cheap-ish, but really just need minor upgrades. The most expensive one is the most fragile, ironically. I'm learning really quick that getting a new car is similar to the real thing. You have a whole new set of issues, quirks, parts, upgrades, tools, batteries, etc to deal with now.
Love the work you guys put into making videos to help out the masses. Not so happy with fraudulent activity on my credit card after using it to buy products from A Main. I guess I will use the PayPal option in the future to stop it. Keep up the good work on the vids.
So I just took my new Cen F450 mud bogging. Big mistake. I cleaned it off, but there is water in the tires. It doesn’t feel like there are any foam inserts in them, but what should I do to get the water out?
Maybe their voltage is too low to initiate the charge? Most current chargers will not start the charge process if any of the cells in a LiPo are below 3V per cell. Do you have a cell checker you could connect to the batteries? -Brett
Hi Good evening nice video and good information. I'm just asking a question if you can help in anyway be possible . I have a ftx dr8 I just taking out the front diff to replace the bad one because it was clicking noise. But when I put it all back together. The front diff case seems very lose I've tried everything I opened up 5 times now but each time I pop it back is lose again when the car on the ground the back wheels spin around. But front wheels don't move or go around. So not sure what's going on any help would be fantastic cheers 😅😅😊
Yeah, sounds like maybe the transmitter is having an issue reaching the receiver in the car, or maybe the antenna on the receiver is having issue. Like the other comment mentioned, trying new transmitter batteries is a good idea. Ensuring your receiver's antenna in the vehicle is in good shape would be my next thing to check. Let me know what you find out. -Brett
Awesome advice! I will add- don’t drive or fly your model near yourself or any other person or property. These things are not toys! They are downsized remotely controlled models of the real thing and they can and will hurt you in the same manner as the real full-size thing! This should be the first lesson/video a kid hears before being turned loose with a RC car/truck. Definitely rules to live by in all things RC. RC Aircraft need way more training but the same rules apply. The second thing should be etiquette. Follow the rules to the T and if you mess up fess up! I started out at around 11 or 12 years old learning how to fly RC planes. I had a really good teacher that taught me the basics and the dangers of the RC hobby world. I’m a back woods flyer/driver so I’ve never had to worry about busting through the neighbors window but there were times that I would have had to worry when I was starting out. After 30 years of “playing” with these models I can definitely say be carful and keep yourself safe. Don’t let it bite you because it will if you give it the chance. It’s fun. It’s expensive if you’re not a good pilot/driver or builder. But it’s fun so keep building!
I just ordered a traxxas rustler 4x4 vxl. First rc car I've had since like 2000. I got slower 2s lipos. That's not overboard is it? Really looking forward to giving it a go.
I got into the hobby with a brushed Rustler 4x4 and wanted to make it faster after a month. If it is too fast there is a training mode on the ESC to make it go half speed. The manual will show you how to go into that mode.
Overboard? No. 2S is a good place to warm back up to driving. The truck is also 3S lipo compatible though for more power and speed, once your comfortable and ready. Have fun and enjoy! -Brett
If I charge up my 1s batteries the night before, and the weather conditions are not good in the morning, how do I burn off battery so I am not leaving it all charged up and it gets degraded? RC Planes RTF. Turbo Timber and Sports Cub. How long is too long? Sometimes it is a week before conditions are good to fly. I am frustrated with the 1s, is there a user group for lipo batteries?
That's a little tricky, but if you can safely run your airplane in doors for 3-4 minutes, that should do it. Perhaps anchor the plane or hold it and burn off some battery juice while ensuring you and your property are safe from the prop. It's possible, but please stay safe, and enjoy the cool air from the prop... it will be like having a fan. If you don't feel comfortable doing this I understand; you might consider charging the battery the day of use instead of the night before. -Brett
Unfortunately, I didn't close the holes in the wheels of my new Traxxas Maxx. Now I have moisture in the wheels. Does this mean that I have to buy new wheels or is there a way to get the water out of the wheels? Does the water evaporate automatically over time?
Try removing the tires from the vehicle and putting them near a vent or fan, they may dry out. The main issue with moisture is it will break down the foam insert inside over time. If you're foams are still good, you're ok. -Brett
I baught a Udi rc and the battery seems to be to drain very fast I can use it super fast for 6 minutes then after that it goes slow and the battrie show it’s dying after 6 minutes it the drift Panther I dnt get why it goes slow so quick ??
Not only RC s but drones as well for turning on the remote first before the car/ drone . Them drones can lose signal while flying . Usually in the same area for me which I then know to avoid . The cars are my favorite though
Isn't that the truth. I need another car... Lol. No I don't. Your right. Spend the moneys and keep your current rigs up to snuff. Thanks brou. Have Fun
Just got into RC cars. I bought a laegendary thunder brushless. What do you think about that company.? They told me I can't put a 3 cell battery in it or have over 30 C. Is that correct or they just B.S me so I have to buy their battery?
Hmm, I don't know anything about the company but it looks to be a knock-off brand; no offense. Doesn't mean it's bad, it might be a great little truck honestly. My main concern is where will you find parts? Local hobby shops won't have anything for this... For the battery questions: The car's speed controller (ESC) may only be 2S LiPo compatible, and not 3S, this is common. Just don't use anything more powerful than a 2S LiPo. For the C rating, that makes no sense and you should be able to use any C rating you want unless the ESC has some odd limitation that we don't know about. Higher C Rating = more punch/greater power delivery; Lower C Rating = soft punch/low power delivery Typically, r/c cars call for the greatest C Rating you can afford; it's more power baby!!! But maybe their ESC has some limitations? I don't know, but if they have a warranty and you might need it, you better stick to their guidelines so you don't void it. Hope this helps George. -Brett

Thanks Brett love the tid bits
Been in the hobby for a little over 2 years and just built my first dr10, is a lovely 1972 Plymouth Barracuda drag racer.
Congrats!

Good advices for beginners and enthusiasts !
Great advice, thanks for helping all the newbies
So, you are telling me that launching it 50 feet in the air in a skate park will result in broken parts?
Hey,hey we don’t know that yet, let’s not jump to conclusions 😂
Worse mistake is not having a big juicy burrito after doing hard of fun RC 🌯🤤
Is it better to store a lipo with 0% or with 100% ? I know ideal is to store them with 50-70%
50-70% that would be about 3.8V per cell. Your charger should also have a storage function and set them around 3.8V.
storing a ZERO lipo will kill it quicker than storing a FULL lipo ( the later will slowly discharge , the former will possibly NEVER charge again . .. ) thats my twopenny thrown in . Ideally 40 % for storage , but 50 is ok ish . ...
I feel like you were looking into my should when you said pace yourself lol..after 20+ years I am back to RC and started with an SCX24..which of course had to have every upgrade under the sun (not that I knew what I was doing or even needed) and my spare parts have become 3 working machines hahaha
Looking good Brett!
Whoa!! I thought I was the only one getting grey haha! You look good Brett. But I'm not gonna lie when I first saw thumbnail.... was like "they replaced him?!, NOOOOO!".. sigh relief. Happy New Years man. 😎👊
Hey Tom! You're getting some greys too!? We get a new grey with each r/c crash maybe lol.

The worst mistake is not watching how much you spend.
Is there even people like that? lol
on point .. I esp. love the last point
The last part is extremely hard. I bought a rustler 4x4 vxl for $400…loved it so much…a week later I saw an XRT at my local hobby shop…I couldn’t leave without it, another $1,000 and $300 in batteries later…now I’m about $3k deep in the hobby in less than a month 😅😅😅
This is why im buying only 2 cars to start officially(i also recently got a 1/36 scale truck that was cheap but looks fun to use lolz)and then eventually but a felony when i can afford it. After that, who knows maybe another lowrider and the bandit + fireteam..but i can wait for those tho
@@wolfboy20what 2 rc cars did you go with? I got the Mojave 4s and think next Max v2 and down the line felony or infraction lol I think also get the traxxas slash kit and resell it and then maybe the tekno 410 or so!!!😂
@@Awakendabeast13 Well lets see, I got a Redcat Lowrider, & then for the 2 vehicles, I got a Traxxas Slash Ultimate and The Kyosho Fazer mk2 RC Camaro. After that I got a Typhon 3S.
@@wolfboy20 Nice all great!! Eventually I’ll get a road rc and I like the scale autos as well. Awesome
@@Awakendabeast13 Thank you!! They are all great vehicles but its gonna be a while before I can use them again. Gotta get new batteries and a new charger 1st for all of them. I also plan on getting the Arrma Felony and then the Losi Pro Moto Motocross Bike!
😂Mann!!! Losi 8ight rtr's were famous for screws backing out and wheel nuts spinning off. That was the vehicle that taught me pre maintenance and post maintenance 😅
I’ve had this question for awhile. When I store my car for a month or more. Do I store the battery totally dead or fully charged????
Storage function on your charger is made for this situation
Yeah I have the same question for my Nickel Metal battery for my EZ start my charger has no fancy storage feature.
@@rcfanfun5133 I’ve got the most basic traxxas charger that came with the car. I’m not aware of any options for different charging modes.
@@johnlopez4089 If it's a lipo, 100% is better than 0%. If it's a nimh battery, it doesn't really matter

Thanks for your reminders :)
I haven't been in the rc game since 1995-ish, but getting an Arrma Vorteks 3x blx very soon. Coming from a 1993-ish vintage Losi XX buggy, these reminders are a godsend. Lol losi is for sale by the way. And also great video
Excellent! You're in for a treat - LiPo batteries, 2.4GHz transmitters and brushless motor-power baby! Have fun with your truck!
-Brett
How is your truck ? Iv just landed one myself and waiting on fresh batteries ...how was setting up and bashing etc?
It's actually really important to check wheels nuts or screws because I had a rc car lose a front wheel racing a few times
As far as batteries go i just got my first hobby grade RC the Haiboxing 16890A and it came with 2 Lithium ion batteries and Haiboxing told me to charge the batteries every 7 days or so and store them at full charge ! But everyone else tells me to store that at like 50% charge witch way is the right way to store them ??
i use air compressor on mine and never had issues
If they sold compressors they would recommend them. 🤔 they sell canned air.
Watching this as an experienced hobbyist I’m poking holes in all these tips but I have to remind myself I’m not a beginner anymore lol
So I need help with figuring out how to get reverse working, currently I have no reverse and so I just have to be easy on the gas,
The Arrmas have vent holes in the tires, should I block those somehow? My plan is to upgrade parts as they break
Haha i bought 3 rcs on amazon an just got a slash 4x4...and i am litterly driving to the hobby stote also to look at parts.. lol should i pace
Love the work you guys put into making videos to help out the masses. Not so happy with fraudulent activity on my credit card after using it to buy products from A Main. I guess I will use the PayPal option in the future to stop it. Keep up the good work on the vids.
Have you talked to anyone at AMain about this? If not, please email Evan, our Customer Service Manager: evanh@amain.com

That was some really great advice Brett, thanks.
So I just took my new Cen F450 mud bogging. Big mistake. I cleaned it off, but there is water in the tires. It doesn’t feel like there are any foam inserts in them, but what should I do to get the water out?
Maybe a dehumidifier or a food dehydrator. I’m just sorta guessing here.
One of those things you use to dry small amounts of wet weed.
@@nessie42786 ok I’ll try those! Thank you so much for your advice!
One of the rules I have made for myself is to only upgrade the part when it needs to be replaced
I got 2 "Hoovo" 3s 5200 lipos on amzn... I know I know. They wont charge ... Idst 608ac is fine with all other lipos . whats the problem ????
Maybe their voltage is too low to initiate the charge? Most current chargers will not start the charge process if any of the cells in a LiPo are below 3V per cell. Do you have a cell checker you could connect to the batteries?

Liking the beard Bro, another great Vid.
Good stuff Brett!!
Thanks for the tips!
I have a question I’m using 2 3s batteries on my arrma 6s when I take the jumper out dose it’s matter witch ic5 connector I plug in first?
I have a 1/16 slash and it will go to far from me and it want drive but I can walk like 6 feet from it and it runs great any idea why
Change the transmitter batteries
Yeah, sounds like maybe the transmitter is having an issue reaching the receiver in the car, or maybe the antenna on the receiver is having issue. Like the other comment mentioned, trying new transmitter batteries is a good idea. Ensuring your receiver's antenna in the vehicle is in good shape would be my next thing to check. Let me know what you find out.

Some good points there!!
Do not run your race buggy through a puddle..XR10 stock ESC went up in smoke really fast.
Great video and information
When will the Protek 1ktbl be back in stock?
Looks like we should get more next month; exact date unknown.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies :(
@@fcsthememe7987 I'm sorry! They'd never be out of stock if it was up to me.
-Brett
Awesome video rite there
I just ordered a traxxas rustler 4x4 vxl.

-Brett
4:30 me and the boys literally stand in line to use the air compressor at the RC track.

Nice video as always Brett........you missed one important feature.................."Beard" 😉
Great video thanks
"if you ain't sendin' it, you're doin' it wrong!" - every online RC basher
I baught a Udi rc and the battery seems to be to drain very fast I can use it super fast for 6 minutes then after that it goes slow and the battrie show it’s dying after 6 minutes it the drift Panther I dnt get why it goes slow so quick ??
Favorite tip is to pace yourself man 😂 I definitely hear that
An air compressor works much better than a can of air. Also using a small fan to dry the car completely works great!
OMG! LOL! I love the part, I want this one and then there's 4 more I want!
Another great video!!! So true 💯👍👍
Not only RC s but drones as well for turning on the remote first before the car/ drone . Them drones can lose signal while flying . Usually in the same area for me which I then know to avoid . The cars are my favorite though
love your videos
Good job.
More videos!
Higher C Rating = more punch/greater power delivery; Lower C Rating = soft punch/low power delivery
Typically, r/c cars call for the greatest C Rating you can afford; it's more power baby!!! But maybe their ESC has some limitations? I don't know, but if they have a warranty and you might need it, you better stick to their guidelines so you don't void it.
Hope this helps George.
