I recently moved and my jar lifter tongs are hiding in a box , so I had to buy a new one. I bought the Ball one like you have and I love it. I growled about spending $10 on it at the time. I wouldn't part with it , after using it. It grips the jars perfectly. Enjoy your video's in Maine.
Hi, I know you mentioned you don't like to peel and core the apples and I used to make applesauce and apple butter the way you do but now I just sit and peel a bunch of apples, core them and fill the instant pot with them with an additional 1/4 cup of water. I set it for 6 minutes and 10 minute quick release. I use the stick blender and applesauce is done. I just made 4 batches this way yesterday and then canned 9 quarts of applesauce. For apple butter, I just add the applesauce to the crock pot and cook it down that way. I found it less messy this way and cuts the time at least by 1/2. Also, if I'm not using organic apples I really don't like cooking them down with the skin on. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth. Enjoyed the video and love your channel!
Yum the apple butter looks delicious. We make apple butter outside about every other year love doing it,a lot of hard work, we do it like my grandmother did years ago when I was a little girl. I just found your channel, love watching you.
I have the same tomato strainer, and I just about fell over when I saw you bring out that little motor !...If only I knew about that the last couple years straining hundreds of pounds with that hand crank!
Nothing taste better than cooking down apple butter over outdoor fire in a huge copper kettle. Loved making homemade apple butter with my parents and grandparents the old fashioned way. My son and his fire station make it this way as one of their fundraisers in the fall. Don’t forget to drop some of the little red hots to add some spice. Yummy!!! This is the only way I will eat apple butter, other ways just don’t taste as good.
Love your videos Renea....as for the 'dirt' on the mushrooms, it's not even dirt, just the medium that they grow in, no soil at all, I'm the same, just brush it off, but if it was real dirt, that's another thing altogether
that apple butter looks so good I did not get to make apple butter this year But I did put me some in the freezer me and bill and we did a bunch of pairs my pairs was beautiful this year I wanted to make some pear jelly or jam well I didn't get to do that I just wished Renee That I was down there where you were we could've done a lot of apples and a lot of pairs but anyway sweetie your freeze dryer stuff looks so good in that apple butter God bless you I'm so glad you're feeling better I need to go to the doctor And we will talk about that later love you take care see you in your next video
Hi there! Im so glad I found this recipe. Im planning on making some for Christmas gifts. Also, there arent many Renea's out there that spell their name the way I do, it was good to find another 😉 subbing for more awesome recipes and content. Have a lovely day!
Nothing like a sharp knife, as long as your fingies are out of the way! Turned my off peak brick heaters on 1st time of year. 36F (33 real feel) because of the wind! I love mushrooms on/in Italian food. I tried to grow them once from store bought. Epic fail (my failed venture into mycology). Do you have to clean that cone filter often because of the skins and seeds?
I prefer the taste of the green bell peppers but different of my recipes call for either red or yellow...but I like a more bitter taste as the green ones have.
Hi Renea! I always thought that you should have your water bath canner ready to go when your filled jars are. I heard your lids popping, so I know they sealed, but I am wondering why you did it that way.
I just bought two produce bags of Honey crisp apples foot $1.79?lb. Just for eating. I My favorite apple. I have a hand operating food mill, I don't mind it.
Yumm!! I love apple butter. I remember my mother, 😢 peeling bushels of apples, then turning them into applebutter. She made hers outside, in a huge copper kettle, over an open fire. She stirred for hours, using a long handled, wooden, applebutter paddle, with holes in it. I remember seeing bags of sugar, ground cinnamon, sweet apple cider, and a small bottle of cinnamon oil! (her addition) for flavoring. I also remember clean up of the copper pot, was a good salt and vinegar scrub. Mom raised 7 children, so her canning was big batches of everything. I still use a couple drops of cinnamon oil, whenever I make anything apple.
Hi Renea and John! I wish we had a program like that around here, but we don’t. Yum, love apple butter. That’s a large freeze dryer. I m sure with the market stand it comes in handy. Have a blessed weekend!
Have you ever tried freeze drying candy such as skittles and starburst ect. ? Here in Iowa it is very popular. I see people buying cases of skittles at Sam's club that they are freeze drying and selling. Might be something you could add to your market stand.
Happy Friday, Renea! Your granddaughter is adorable. Their bubbly personalities always make me smile. That food all looks so good and you make it look so easy! I bet your home smells wonderful with all those apples cooking down. I haven't had baked apples in years, hadn't even crossed my mind...guess what I'm doing now, lol! After watching your video, I'm wanting all things apple, lol. It's only going to be about 68° here today, so it's the perfect kind of day to spend in my kitchen. Thanks for yet another great video!
Mostly amazon, I get my cast iron all over, yard sales estate sales amazon and many other places. Your best bet is to search amazon for pans you want or need.
I absolutely LOVE canning and preserving my food! I can relate to your excitement. I have a tough time thinking about those who have not yet discovered the "simple" pleasures from a bit of hard work not to mention the money saved!!! My heart jumps with every "ping" of a jar. I have both metal and tattler lids. I love my tattlers but feel robbed when I do not get the ping. Lol😊
Years ago my husband got me a food mill for my Kitchen Aid. With the arthritis in my hands, no way I’m cranking the old fashioned one his parents gave us years ago. I’m finishing up apples today. You SHOULD leave the skins & cores on for apple butter! That’s where the pectin is that thickens it! After I do all my pie filling & sauce. I freeze all my peels & make apple peel juice for syrup or jelly.
No. Most mushrooms found at grocery stores, such as white, button, and cremini, are grown in indoor farms with pre-treated compost to reduce bacteria levels, and they often come packed pretty clean. A damp paper towel to clean these mushrooms should do the trick.

Hello my friend.
You should make an egg drop soup.

Gosh, your a hard worker. 😀
@sherylmoss3223. Yes she sure is. No moss grows under her feet or Mr. Wayna's either. They both keep so busy. 😊
It's amazing!@@margaretcameron1275
🍎 Apple Fest wknd near me, so after the hoopla leaves, I'll be doing cases of Apple sauce & butter for the future.😊
I have been anxiously waiting to see your commercial one but actually have not seen your smaller one either or down in your basement.
Very nice.
You and John are so sweet! Love and blessings always to you and yours! 🥰💕🙏

Does the water in your water bath need to be boiling when you put the jars of a.b. in?
Looks so good. Can you put a link where you got your machine to make this wonderful apple butter. Electric is so nice.
I got the motor from my local Amish store.
My husband always runs our skins through 2 or 3 times and one would be surprised how much more apple sauce we get.

I would love to make some apple butter here in Texas. Just curious, how much do you charge for your apple butter/jams/jellies?
You are amazing!
I sell the half pint for 5.00 and the pint for 10.00. I sell lots of it.
Did you know that mushrooms are sprayed with formaldehyde to prevent bacteria growth ? I always rinse my mushrooms before using them .
beautiful apple butter great job my friend
Oh this looks delicious. I love having apple sauce and apple butter. Such a great addition for the pantry.
Awesome video on canning apple butter. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Renee.
Iam from Delia Alberta Canada.
I am new to canning.
Where do you use apple butter for.
And what is the Shelf life.
anywhere you'd use jelly or jam, also in recipes like pies, cakes, muffins, cookies, snack bars, as glaze for meats, especially pork
Where do u buy all your trays that u cook with???
