My grandmother used to make an apple butter cake. She used a boxed cake mix and would make it as the box directed, pour half in the pan and to the other half she would mix a few extra eggs, cake flour and apple butter and swirl it in with the rest of the cake mix that she had already put in the pan. After she baked it and let it cool she simply topped it with the apple butter. Just a simple country recipe from the top of grandmas head. I don’t even think the recipe has ever even been wrote down. Other than making the cake mix like the box calls for we just eyeball the ingredients. We have just pass it through the family. It’s my middle daughters go to cake. Ever since she was little bitty that was what she wanted for her birthday. Even when we would do theme birthday party’s when she was little she had to have Granny’s cake. I’ve had to run out and buy the store bought apple butter and while it works in a pinch it’s not the same as the homemade. (We do crockpot applebutter now)
I love this couple. They're so sweet !

I really enjoyed seeing that. Now I know what that paddle I have with the holes in it is for….
That is some good Eaton on a hot biscuit! Don’t even need butter! I always made my apples with no sugar. Folks use too much sugar!
You bet
I lived there back in 1994-95. Beautiful area. Was like going back in time. My favorite spot was in the cumberland gap where the 3 states boarders came together KY, VA and TN. Everything closed at 5 LOL. It was also a dry county so you had to go to Knoxville to buy alcohol (unless you knew where to get the moonshine) . There was a local bar, it was open ONE Saturday a month & you had to drive thru all the checkpoints on the way home. Tazwell had a racecar track that was lots of fun. I'd love to go back there and have a cabin on a mountain top now that I'm about ready to retire.
Yum!
Im really enjoying your channel.
Glad you enjoy it!

When I worked at school we took applesauce and seasonings and made a delicious apple butter .
Thank you so much for watching my videos and making a comment, I love to hear what people have to say.
This is the best way to make apple butter and it's so good. But there is a cheat I have being using for years to make apple butter at home in a crock pot and it works well and tastes great too...
Thanks
This has to be one of your best videos
8/13/24 watching from Beautiful Southern Iowa
Thank you. Im making apple butter now
Hope you enjoy
I used to Help my MOM do this, it is an all day Job..
Thank you ❣️ Love 🍏🍎🧈
I would love some apple butter cooked over an open fire. When I was a child a neighbor made apple butter like that and it was the best apple butter I've ever eaten.
😢 i thought this was a how-to video. I love your patience, and your "costumes".
Imagine if we had one additional human form with a special ability for every variety of indigenous apple, including the man-made indigenous varieites; swimming forms, flying forms climbing forms, etc.
I read about this in one of the foxfire books at the local library, but must of the books cannot be checked out, because have they been made reference books, but I will request more. copies.
It’s nothing better than homemade apple butter
Not a bad life! Reenactments and making apple butter all day!

When we were kids we had to make apple butter I can remember sitting on the counter staring the pot must of been 5 or 6. Some of the butter had a lot of cinnamon in it some didn't tasted good. Apple butter sandwich
I always thought it was butter flavored with apple 😹
I've made great apple butter using crab 🍎 apples
Yummy
Why didn’t they wash the jars ? At least rinse them before filling? But I love applesauce.
Good question to ponder
How do you know they didn't?
Definitely would not consider this product as shelf stabel. The jars would need to be put in the refrigerater right away since the rims were not wiped down. Oh well.
She wiped them down. Just curious about processing them after filling them
Amazing..."putting up" apple Butter the Old Time Way...BUT, no sterilized jars, no steamy hot water bath, I'd love to do this but I'd have to use my modern sterile & steamy methods!
Sounds great!
The apple butter they sell in stores should be outlawed,it doesn't hold a candle to homemade apple butter.I'm going to be making some next week, I'm going to cheat and make it in the crockpot, shh! don't tell anyone, lol.
Thanks for visiting by my again channel and watching another episode. I also have more then 100 more different videos so please check them out as you have time. John Ward
