You are spot on. This song was written to tell their fans how much the band missed them during Covid. BAND-MAID have a few of these softer songs which really show off Saiki's beautiful and emotional voice, as well as Miku's superb harmonizing. Thanks for this Clarice. ✌

In 2022 when the restriction was lifted and *BAND-MAID* toured the US in October they was so happy to perform in front of live audiences I believe that what *BAND-MAID* live for to perform live 🙂

Hey Clarice! Sorry about the wall of text, but I think you would appreciate some context. This is why us Maidiacs love them so much. 🙂 This is from online concert Feb. 11, 2021. Saiki talked about the struggles of the band over the past year.
Saiki: We were supposed to meet you today. For the first time in a year, we thought we could meet you all, those of you who could come to see us, but we can’t meet you in the end. I’m sorry. Even though it’s not my fault. We have been having days of turmoil for about a year. In the beginning, we were very surprised because we hadn’t experienced it before, and we had no experience of not being able to meet others in person. We were sad, but we found we shouldn’t be sad in this situation. When I saw you masters and princesses on social media, you were more depressed than us, and we thought that’s terrible. We Band-Maid have been thinking about how to cheer up all of you in the last one year. We truly wanted to meet you at Nippon Budokan, but it’s impossible because of COVID, so let’s wait for the day when we can meet. And in the last one year… or in the COVID pandemic, we have become more eager to cheer you up, and we Band-Maid realized again it’s important to give our songs to you. That’s why we wrote this song for Budokan. We made the album also in the pandemic, so it might have a little similar feel, but this song is planned for Nippon Budokan, and we really want to give it to you masters and princesses now. Budokan is not our goal but just a stepping stone. We will perform at bigger venues, and we promise we will bring you there and give you even better songs, so let’s keep it up a little more. This is our present for you masters and princesses. Please listen to it."

I was about to point her to Weili Ma's comment in the original video! The one thing this _doesn't_ convey is the long pauses between some of the phrases. She was not using notes or a prompter. It seemed ad lib and not rehearsed although obviously she had (and they had) thought about it a lot. They were really _really_ looking forward to being at Budokan.

@@surfingasongwave I just happened to have that text file floating around on my desktop, and said "Gosh, what a coincidence!" Hahaha
Remember watching the on line concert (several times) and thinking how stupid it was to feel moved by a song that at that time I didn't know the English lyrics to. But I now know that every time I hear the song it brings on a cold that causes problems with eyes and nose. Every time. The music just manages to hit home. Now I need another hanky.

This band, specifically this song, got me through a COVID-grief filled summer of 2021. I will forever be grateful to Miku for these lyrics.
Saiki's voice conveys great emotion. There are 2 versions of PUZZLE one is acoustic and she does another acoustic song with it called Anemone and when she's finished she just gets up and leaves. She sings it with Kaname who has a good voice also. At one point she looks like she's going to cry. There's a lot going on with this band you shouldn't get bored for about a year or so.
