A masterpiece, even by Band-Maid standards.
This song has some of Kanami's most soulful playing.
People suggest Daydreaming more because it's definitely beautiful, and yet Anemone is the song that makes people cry without even knowing the words, the most emotionally powerful song.
IMHO one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Anemone needs no language to bring tears, the sound of the guitar and the emotion in Saiki's voice get me every time.
I totally agree, for me the best of the best. These two Kanami solos make it even more beautiful, especially the second, the bluesy one.

One of my absolute favorites. Not sure why people love the all acoustic more than this. This is perfection. I'm willing to admit I'm biased towards my own tastes, of course. ;)

With you. I love the acoustic, it's an amazingly beautiful duo arrangement. But in the studio version, every instrument (plus backing) is available to max out the emotional impact.
I think it's the amount of emotion Saiki puts into the acoustic version she looks like she's going to cry so you feel like been allowed to see something private and special but your right more attention should be given to the studio version.
I love the studio version better than the live (although its just Saiki and Kanami on acoustic guitar).

As everyone will point out..the LIVE acoustic of just Kanami & Saiki....pure emotion....Plus the acoustic of "Puzzle"..again Kanami & Saik....You'll neeed tissues at the ready for these....AND!..."Smile"...another great slow track....Not forgetting "About US"....A message from the ladies to the fans...Not only can they melt your face....but also melt your heart.

I wish I could relive the moment when I first listened to this song and heard that electric guitar come in out of nowhere.

Oh absolutely... I wish I could hear all of their ballads for the first time again. I remember when I heard Daydreaming for the first time, and knew that I'd found my new favorite band.

This song is one of the best slow songs with two great guitar solos. It is greatly under appreciated. For me it is in top 5 of Band Maid, that means in top 20 in general of all songs.

I love when Kanami gets bluesy in her solos.
Anemone has been my goto song for the past 4 months, i listen to it everyday as for me it pretty much has the best of them as individuals all coming together in one song. Akane's drumming is my favourite drum track of any song ever, Saiki's vocals both alone and then together with Miku are beautiful and are my favourite of them, Misa is perfect as always and then Kanami, her second solo being Alvin Lee like getting that dirty les paul sound with pinched harmonics and again my favourite of hers. Forgot to mention Miku's lyrics......
@Darren McGregor I can't be 100% sure, we know for sure it's Kanami when they did the acoustic because we can see it. It just sounds typically Miku to me and I thought I knew the difference between Miku's and Kanami's voices sufficiently enough to be confident. Maybe there's someone out there with some inside knowledge that can clear this up. Mr Google is no help.
@Darren McGregor in the studio version i always thought both Miku and Kanami did backing vocals. some parts it definitely is Miku but in others it does sound like Kanami
Well, the symbolism of the anemone, the flower, is death and forsaken love. Seems Kobato has stated that the lyrics are a farewell to a deceased person.
If you can find the original Zepp Tokyo set where only Kanami and Saiki performed the songs of "Puzzle" and "Anemone" back to back, please do watch it. During singing "Anemone," Saiki gets overcome with emotion and almost cries. You can see it very clearly when she looks up to the ceiling, trying to prevent tears from falling. "Anemone" is a really emotional song for sure. One of the best I've ever heard.
This song became really famous as one of the two acoustic songs from the Zepp Tokyo show in 2018 along with puzzle. Kanami and Saiki perform it as a duo with Kanami on guitar and backing vocals and Saiki with her deep sultry vocals which are to die for and so emotional. This is a performance that showed the huge quality and ability of the two artists. This and Daydreaming have great Santana style guitar solos from Kanami.
The acoustic version is even more emotional. I'm sure the B-M Discord can find it for you ;)

Whenever I hear Kanami's solo in the song Anemone, I get goosebumps. She can't help but marvel at her expressiveness.

Anemone is a gorgeous and powerful song that has been at the top of my all-time list since I first heard it. When you get to Conqueror you'll hear a few more mid-tempo songs. Not so much on Unseen World.
I agree, Unseen World is more technically accomplished and full of bangers, but Conqueror is full of emotion and very listenable earworms
Anemone has been out many times in various forms such as covers [ ua-cam.com/video/UHYTMCdyyfk/v-deo.html ], fan-produced MV's /[see old reactor vids ] and their well-known live acoustic version that includes Puzzle. It has probably generated a few hundred thousand more views from these sources all tolled. This is a beautiful, well produced song that should be in the tens of million views. Many people just don't seek out songs that aren't put in front of their faces or even know what a quality band is unless others verify it for them. Thanks, SkiBuff, for putting Anemone in front of your viewers!

Saiki and Kanami are an absolute dream duo vocally (especially in the often mentioned acoustic version), and the rest of the gang with their instruments make it another masterpiece (for me). ✨
It's nice to see that this lyric video, which I think is absolutely amazing, has found its way back onto UA-cam. It was one of the first videos I saw after discovering the band. Shortly after, however, it was deleted and could only be found on a certain Chinese site, which is a shame imho. A huge thank you to the original creator for that. 🙏🏻

This film clip seamed to come out with the song it might even be an official clip but the live version is great because they perform it straight after the acoustic version of Puzzle

Atsumi-san's lower register is exceptional. I love listening to it. And when her voice harmonizes with Kobato-chan's soprano, it's ultimate ear candy!

Thanks for this great reaction video! You've hit it right on the head, there's a familiarity to their music that's very comforting, but they're also innovating all the time.
I came outside to get out of the dust from watching your reaction to the acoustic version to see this pop up. MAN the dust is even worse out here on the porch.

You see Kanami sing back up vocals when it is her "time to shine" with Sai-chan in a duet. In the electric version Miku has that duty. In Syanokadori (songbird) you see A-chan handle the backing vocals in the acoustic version. Anemone is either a sea creature like a jellyfish or a land based plants with no roots. What do they have in common? The sea anemone cannot move under its own power and thus winds up wherever the tides and current takes it. The land plant has no roots and is driven wherever the wind might take it. Showing that no matter what there are certain things that we cannot control. There is a strong correlation between the words Miku wrote and her winding up a star in a rock n roll band. She did not see that coming when she was a failed idol in Lil Cumin but l assure you ko bato sure did. (Ko is Japanese for small and bato is pigeon or dove.) Best and most compelling rock band currently in existence. And Sacramento really, really likes these guys.

This studio version of Anemone is one of my top 10.
Unlike acoustic version, it's Miku singing with Saiki.
Saiki is singing with a soft, sweet voice in the beginning that matches with Miku's vocal here and it also feels like their emotions are in sync as well.
Because the vocals are deliberately holding back, that contrast with Kanami's solos make the song even more powerful imo. She really let's her guitar cry. The entire band is feeling the song while playing it.
I wonder if bandmaid members were going through breakups or hard relationships around 2016-2018 era...

I'm taking a decent drive in the morning and will drink this whole album in along with a big pot of coffee. I turn the volume up for Anemone and revel in the beauty of it. I'm listening to each album repeatedly as you unpack them...great to be along on your journey. Such good sh*t to come fella :-)
I think the lyrics are very deep, which you can't imagine from the appearance of MIKU in Magic Time. It's the same night song as Sayonakidori.
You should try the acoustic version sung by SAIKI and KANAMI !
seen this video dozens of times- one of their most emotional songs by far. but every time i see the girl walking through the field of flowers it gives me a paranoid bee nightmare. nope - not a big fan of bees !
