So I'm a diehard Daiwa guy. I have found what I like and I just stick with them to great success. But with that being said, I've owned a lot of Shimanos. Many SLX's. A handful of the basic SLX's in the 6, 7, and 8 ratio, a few SLX MGL's, a few DC's, and even a JDM SLX BFS. I've owned some Curados, including DC, MGL, and BFS. I've also owned the JDM Scorpion. You cannot argue the quality and pedigree that Shimano has. There is a reason that they are considered by many to be the best. And even as a Daiwai guy, I have to admit that. I really enjoyed your review. Especially that it was a 5 year review. You didn't open up, use it a week, and then start singing its praises. A lot of reels feel great at first but then start to get geary, loud, or just generally less smooth after a short bit of use *cough* Abu *Cough*. You weighed the pros and cons and did so with as little bias as possible for someone who clearly is very satisfied with their purchase. If more people used this format for reviews, the entire fishing community would be better off for it. Keep up the great work.
@@tims_always_fishing7117A custom rod I got made probably 7 years ago, can’t even remember the blank brand but it’s one of my favorite finesse rods. I usually use the kistler heliums and might end up buying a 7’ LMH Helium and pairing it to that
@@humbugvideos Smoothest freaking reel ever. I kid you not. Metanium is smooth but Antares is just that much better. Can’t go wrong! Worth the money 🤙🏼
Just so you know Shimano Japan just announce the 2024 Metanium DC, dame .... you paid $500 for yours, I remember getting my two metanium DC reels for $320 each, although i didn't buy mine from Amazon, and will never buy from Amazon they literally ripped you off good, but you don't have to believe me
At the time of buying my reel there was none in the US market yet. Japan tackle also had theirs for $500 and when it was introduced into the US Tackle Warehouse had it for $500. Maybe the new ones are cheaper but I definetly did not get ripped off at the time of buying mine.

Just got the 2024 8.5 everything you say is true ! Brilliant review ! 👏
the dc whine sound does sound so much better than hearing line going through micro guides that's for sure.

@@tims_always_fishing7117 I have a custom rod I got about 7 years ago that’s perfect for finesse (senko, flukes, etc).
How the actual hell does this not have more likes
If you going to go DC. Go Antares. But metanium I love the 20’.
Antares is a bucket list reel for me!
