I wonder which one is the most Resistant to SaltWater. I’m a CNC Mill/Lathe Machinist and I’m thinking about making the Middle Main Frame of the Shimano out of Titanium, the side plates and guts Stock.
Yea I wanna get the Metanium I have the same problem with the curado I backlash it at least once every time I go out now sometimes it just where I need to pull like 10-15” of line out but other times it’s pretty bad not to much when I’m throwing heavy objects but defiantly with the lighter bait. Iv had the curado dc since it came out Iv always wanted the Metanium dc but when the curado dc came out for that price point I was all over it and Iv heard a lot of ppl talk about the 2 different reels and it just provides more gas to the fire about buying the Metanium. Cool little video
Don’t think cause you spend 150 more it’s gonna eliminate that factor it’s gonna happen just the same make sure you setup the drag correctly an put its in the third setting or second setting that will help
Xero lullaby I personally think they’re pretty close in terms of volume, but the Curado DC has more of a higher pitched whine where as the Metanium DC is a little lower. I personally like the Metanium Dc whine better.
You said same rod 7'6" MH but neither is 7'6". The Dobyns Fury 734c is a 7'3" Heavy Fast action and the Powell Max 3D Doesn't even come in a 7'4" MH. Would be interested to see the numbers on the exact same rod as you stated. Great video either way!
Jeremy Wilson I set it to the PE setting. I have had the best casts with that setting but it all depends on what your throwing. I have a review video on my channel as well which covers more on the reel. Hope this helps!
No wonder the Curado is half the price. According to your specs the Curado weighs 7.9 LBS compared to 6.8 oz for the Metanium. Dayum! Other than that, good test for anyone on the fence between the two reels.
@@humbugvideos I just have one Curado DC and three Metanium HGs (two with brass gear replacements for heavier use) but was debating between the latest Antares DC MD and the Metanium DC. Most of my fishing is South Florida canals and lakes where I can enjoy the fancy stuff (Antares, Metaniums, little Revo MGXtreme on Jackson BFS rod etc) but do some Amazon trips every year which is really hard on your equipment. Most recently for example, Brazil in December then six weeks later Colombia I took five casting reels; supertuned with bearings Curado I and K, TranX 200 and 400 and a Lews SuperDuty Wide Speed Spool - all with 65# Maxcuatro braid except for the Curado I with 50. Also took one spinner, all on Bone 4 piece travel rods. They all did fine and it was the eighth trip for the Lews which gets beat to hell doing heavy choppers. Bottom line is if you have the coin and it makes you feel good go for the most expensive. My buddy on the last two trips had fancy JDM everything... latest Antares DCs etc. He was always backlashing and in the trees and my distance was about 10% further, similar rods. When it's the real deal and your main worry is keeping 20 pound psychos out of the sticks and not which reel will cast eight inches farther, they'll all get the job done. I'll probably pick up new Antares and Metanium DCs just because but honestly the Curado DC is crazy good for less than 250 bucks.
Roxanne Lubinsky Totally agree, and yes the shimano curado dc for the money is absolutely the best. This one was my dads but I may pick one up in the future. Thanks for watching man I’m glad someone else truly appreciates the jdm stuff with me🙌🏽
I think you messed up, you said they weighed 7+ "pounds" if a reel weighted 7 plus pounds i think every angler would have serious back problems and massive arms muscles lol.
@@fishin3196 i have both the curado dc and slx dc's, both super tuned with spool speed bearings and they are both glass... butter smooth. I dont use stock equipment.

Help me out. Should I buy, 2 Curado DCs, 2 Metanium DCs or 1 of each for my next two combos. Thanks for the help!
Rob Flores I personally like to have diversity when it comes to my setups, so my opinion would be to grab one of each!
Excellent comparison, big thanks for the post.

Yah I’m really curious about that too, I would love to take the metanium out to the saltwater because of its castabity!

How bout the DC sound from both reels? Is metanium with idc5 a lot louder by much?

JemhidiahSSJ4 Yah I think your right on that one, I should have went back and checked the numbers before I said that. Thanks for pointing that out👍🏽
JemhidiahSSJ4 I was thinking the same thing but I wasn’t sure enough to mention it, but like you said defiantly a informational video
What line setting did you have the Metanium dc set on internally?

I have been looking into getting the metaium dc now for a while and this helped figure out it is what I want. Ana also we should link up and fish
Good test, thanks for doing it :)

Seems like curado is a better bang for your buck$
most definitely! the difference isn't worth mentioning.

Man, you have to do the tests with one rod, not with two different ones. Only then will you be able to see real results. :)
Венцислав Бонев I understand, and will be doing new ones in the future where I use the same rod. Thanks for the suggestion👍🏽
I don’t think the curado dc is 7.9 lbs😳
Burton Porter yah yah so maybe there’s a typo in there...
Thanks for sharing and loads of succes with your channel! Subbed..🤝
Crippleman Thanks!
Catfish on an ice fishing pole? Challenge 2?
Rob Clegg I’ll see what I can do👀
i need to get me one of those, wanna fish sometime soon?
DKFishing
Definetly would recommend either of them! And yes for sure, let’s wait till the bite gets better though lol
I have two of these reels and thanks for comparing the two reels
zakkrick Both r amazing
Not being critical because I know what you mean, but weight of reel is in ounces? You have pounds listed.
Yah on the curado I accidentally typed in lbs instead of ounces lol. Good spot!
Bought to curados instead
Your casting is inconsistent. That screws up the whole experiment.
Miguel Cabrera Thanks for the feedback, I’ll try to fix that variable in future videos!
What an asshole. Show us how it’s done Miguel.
