I'm right here with you!! I'm sticking with my ZV1 for vlogging and doc type stuff. The rolling shutter is the killer for me. Wish Sony had a new sensor for this Camera
Moving from the a6500 to the ZV-E10 for shooting UA-cam content, I had the exact same experience with the rolling shutter. Great camera, but there's a reason I keep this locked in position on a tripod as much as possible...
Comment has nothing to do with the camera but, I own a Sony A7iii and a Sony FX3 (along with 4 other speciality 3d/360 camera's). When I wanted a beginner full frame camera I looked at channels like Peter Lindgren and Peter McKinnon to see what they where shooting on. Those guys have a beautiful look, but when I wanted a detailed specs review I was glad that I found your channel. You are a whole different type of person dude.
Still using my a6400 here. Set it up right and you don't really have to worry about rolling shutter. I would like to upgrade one day when I have the audience/money to warrant it.
Not a very exciting camera, but a very important one. When paired with the kit lens it's the same price as a Panasonic g95 kit, and I feel like this is the first time Sony has a good value proposition in the entry level market when compared to micro four thirds. May not be relevant for us, but a gateway camera is super important for beginners, and having one means Sony will likely get them in the e-mount ecosystem from the very beginning of their careers
Great review! I think you bring out a lot of great points with regards to how this specific camera is designed to do a little bit more if you're not really looking or wanting to do a vlog style setting. In fact it's perfect for someone that's going to do a lot more talking head videos on this camera because it's going to allow you to have a wider shot with that 16 to 50 lens. Plus if you put a sigma 16 1.4 aperture on it you should be able to get a much more bokeh better situation. And I noticed that you didn't really talk about the product showcase or any of those other features which quite frankly for a talking headseting this is probably going to be the best camera that Sony has sold in this entry level lineup. I own the zv1 and I think it's great for what I do but the zv-e10 is a camera that I'm looking for specifically to do talking headshots and simply putting it on a tripod. I plan to use my zv1 as a top-down shot. At any rate this was a great review thank you for the great video.
Hey Geral! I'm thinking of getting the Sony ZV-E10 for recording lecture videos, especially at a distance of around 15 meters. Do you think it's a good choice for this purpose? If yes, could you suggest any specific settings or lenses that would work best? If not, I'd really appreciate your recommendation for a camera that's suitable for recording 90-minute lectures at a distance of 15-20 meters. Your videos are awesome, by the way - keep up the great work! 📷🎥
I have 1 important question: does this camera , like the zv1 , has the gyro data to support the " catalyst browse" software for in software image stabilization?? I find it a game changer and will swing my decision to swap a6400 to this zv e10
Maybe I’m crazy but I watched this right after your Zv1 video and the footage on this looked like it was filmed on a flip phone compared to the footage you got on the ZV1. I’m honestly shocked how big of a quality difference there is. I thought maybe my playback quality was turned to 480 lol. Great work! I’m feeling good about my ZV1 purchase. Thanks for the detailed videos.
I have a trouble with ZV E10: after shooting video in 4K and recording audio on another mic I found that video and audio don't sync and the reason is that video goes a bit faster! Just 1-2% After slowing down the video everything is synced. I checked it in Vegas and Premier Pro. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Great review, as always... the target market for this camera is bang on; I'm just disappointed they recycled the same sensor with the same quirks and issues. I recently went from an a6400 to an a7c and I'm thankful, because I suspect the resale value of the a6400 is about to get decimated. On the plus side however, the a6100 may become a great budget-friendly camera between now and the holiday season.
Hey Gerald, I am stuck between the ZV-1 and ZV-E10 to use as a studio camera. I am very new to content creation and seeing which one is the better option. I wont be taking it out and about and was curious which you would chose. Thanks!
Thanks for the review.Trying to decide between the ZV1 and this one. I will be using it for recording baking videos. Most of the reviews seem to be outdoors. Any thought about which would be best for recording baking videos where you can shoot from lots of angles and also live baking streams?
if youre not going to be holding and walking, then this would be good since you can get different lens for different effect. any outdoor stuff the zv1 would be better. the zv1 is a great deal.
I absolutely love this camera. I’m mad that I just bought the M50 to livestream and make basic UA-cam videos for my nee channel. I wish I waited and got this.
so beginner I would call myself, filming toy reviews, in well lit or overlit scenarios. I was looking for a A6400 and then this thing came up, zv10. So what would you recommend between the two ?
I have a really good question, so for about 8 months now I’ve been using and a6300, and I’m looking for an upgrade at the end of the year. I primarily use my 6300 for video, with occasional pictures. When I upgrade what would be the smarter choice, this ZV-E10, or the a6400?
The sound in the walking sessinn was bad, what mike was it and was it on auto or just to high volume? Well later you say it is the build in mike but for me it is almost clipped.
In my opinion, rolling shutter account for only 2-3% of what I normally experience with my type of videos. (I shoot skateboarders going pretty fast so you would think rolling shutter is an issue) Not a big deal for me. Now what I was hoping you would go over is their updated color science vs the old 6000 series. Maybe a comparison between the others? I just sold my a6300 which I paid $1000+ when it came out and it was my workhorse. I purchased the zve10 so I can see if this cheaper option would be better than what I’m already used to on the a6300. I also use the Sony a7sii as my main. Hopefully this will be a better b cam.
All the review vloggers doing that massive quick pan to get the rolling shutter effect is ridiculous. You watch their content and 90% is a set shot (most shooting the bulk of their reviews on $4k+ systems, but telling how bad something is) and rarely if every would they even have a 2-3% situation where it might effect the image. If you are doing racing, some kinds of very fast sports and such, might be a deal breaker, but even there it is a small percentage of content creators that would need to evaluate it. Most who shoot fast motion do so with a small GoPro or other action camera anyway. As it is though, the EV10 is a solid all around camera for most and a nice entry camera at the price.

🤔 I'm a bit divided on this one. Really its an APS-C version of the ZV-1 and that multi interface hot shoe is great. AF looks like it could be better. Does product showcase work well?
I'm right here with you!! I'm sticking with my ZV1 for vlogging and doc type stuff. The rolling shutter is the killer for me. Wish Sony had a new sensor for this Camera
Kasey used it on his video, product showcase works as well as on ZV-1
Moving from the a6500 to the ZV-E10 for shooting UA-cam content, I had the exact same experience with the rolling shutter. Great camera, but there's a reason I keep this locked in position on a tripod as much as possible...
yep a6100-a6600 & zv-e10 = same poor rolling shutter & 8bit codecs
Been pondering on getting this camera. Thank you for this video!!
Bruh believe me when I say it this is the best video on the ZV e10 on the Internet!

I think it’s a very smart move, $700 entry level aps-c camera with gyro stabilizer & flip screen
Love the Omar Gonzales rolling shutter reference style 😂👍
The E in E10 is for the lens mount - it’s the vlog cam + E mount
Still using my a6400 here. Set it up right and you don't really have to worry about rolling shutter. I would like to upgrade one day when I have the audience/money to warrant it.
Not a very exciting camera, but a very important one. When paired with the kit lens it's the same price as a Panasonic g95 kit, and I feel like this is the first time Sony has a good value proposition in the entry level market when compared to micro four thirds. May not be relevant for us, but a gateway camera is super important for beginners, and having one means Sony will likely get them in the e-mount ecosystem from the very beginning of their careers
I was here for the sensor test, I can't find it done on your a6400 video, and there isn't even a a6600 video...
Where can I find it?
So I do not understand, do the Kit lens have stabilization or do not have?
I find it a game changer and will swing my decision to swap a6400 to this zv e10
yep zv-e10 has gyro like a7c
Would this be a good gift for a teen interested in photography, or are there better options that aren't just cheap versions or for "auto shooters"?
when will they release a higher MP sensor for APS-c? it's been forever...
What’s the point ? High mp is a gimmick. Canon has ones in their 30s
How does this camera go with a gimbal like the DJI RS 3 mini? Does it improve? Also could you use this for real estate shots?
Love you man. Thx for not forgetting us 😊
Also as usual very nice review.
Thanks for the detailed videos.
there's a heavy crop with active stabilization = quality loss, otherwise it's same as other Sony 4k apsc
Free tribble with every camera? I'm sold.
Something I haven't heard in the reviews I've seen so far is the "E" in the model is for the E-Mount. Always love the Undone reviews. Thank you kind sir. Cheers from Space City. 🚀
In 2023 for beginner and casual user which one is better sony zv e10 or canon r50? What is your choice and tell me the reason.
what do you think a6100 or zv-E10? was planning to get one btw zv is around 200 cheap...
What do you think about A6600 vs A6400 or ZV-E10 ? I was looking budget photo and video camera.
The microphone performed quite well considering the ambient noise.
Any thought about which would be best for recording baking videos where you can shoot from lots of angles and also live baking streams?
if youre not going to be holding and walking, then this would be good since you can get different lens for different effect. any outdoor stuff the zv1 would be better. the zv1 is a great deal.
main advantages of zv-e10 vs zv1 are = bigger sensor / interchangeable lenses & bigger battery
@@truthseeker6804 thank you!
@@mirrorlessny thanks for that.
Just got the A7C for the Full Frame and flip screen but this is pretty much the same but with a APS-C sensor. Should I sell my A7C?
I would keep a7C, zv-e10 has smaller sensor/battery & no ibis
So for photography which one would you recommend for beginners SONY ZV-E10 or 6400
Just bought a Sony a7c. Totally content with that choice. It's been amazing. Thank you Mr U.N.Done
I absolutely love this camera. I’m mad that I just bought the M50 to livestream and make basic UA-cam videos for my nee channel. I wish I waited and got this.
I upgraded to this from ZV-1 but now there's ZV-E10. The models naming are so confusing.
Excellent WB and color science. Very good sound. I have a gimbal so I don't need active stabilization.
Does ZV10 has gyro data for stabilization?
Yes.
so beginner I would call myself, filming toy reviews, in well lit or overlit scenarios. I was looking for a A6400 and then this thing came up, zv10. So what would you recommend between the two ?
If you don't need the viewfinder, the ZV-E10 all the way.
I have a really good question, so for about 8 months now I’ve been using and a6300, and I’m looking for an upgrade at the end of the year. I primarily use my 6300 for video, with occasional pictures. When I upgrade what would be the smarter choice, this ZV-E10, or the a6400?
@@MikAlexander the e10 carries all of a6400 and a6100's improvements
I wonder how many of that same sensor sony had made that they can use for so many year not changing it
Im looking at this camera as an upgrade to my a5100, mostly interested in the gyro stabilisation though, ashame you didn’t factor that into the review
this camera have limit time record of 29:59?
Is ZV-1 good to produce low light videos (such as ASMR content). I also need a camera that focus face to object close to the lens.
This would be an awesome B camera for shooting the behind the scenes of my photography! really good options at that price!
Yep that's Canada, where 6 months are winter and the other 6 are construction season 😀
The sound in the walking sessinn was bad, what mike was it and was it on auto or just to high volume? Well later you say it is the build in mike but for me it is almost clipped.
That last thought about ZV1 is the opinion i have been looking in comparison with ZV e10. Thank you sir
Helpful review 👍
Explaining both advantages and disadvantages also.
That's appreciated 🙏
Thank you Gerald 🙏
Hey Gerald, how does the video autofocus compare from this camera to the A6600?
Seems like, if you’re planning to vlog, it’s best to think of this camera as a 1080 camera, and limit 4K for when you can lock the camera off
In my opinion, rolling shutter account for only 2-3% of what I normally experience with my type of videos. (I shoot skateboarders going pretty fast so you would think rolling shutter is an issue)
Not a big deal for me.
So this rolling shutter issue only applies when the camera itself is moving quick, not the object in the shot? New to video, hence the Q 😁
@@JohannesDalen i follow the skaters going at high speeds. Meaning the camera is moving FAST. I call people that stand and film skaters lazy filmers (it’s just a joke lol).
@@JohannesDalen my bad I just reread your question. I’m not exactly too sure if it has to do with the camera moving fast or just whipping fast during a pan. From what I’ve seen on my footage it’s when it’s moving at a faster speed than normal. You’ll see the straight lines look like jello which a lot of people dislike. I’m sort of in between, don’t really hate it, but done love it either.
Perfect stabe for a vintage reenactment of *Finding Bigfoot* (only during bright daylight hours, of course)
Can we use gyro stabilizations with catalyst browse on ZVE10?
Yes.
Sounds great through the speaker in my Mac Mini.
Thank you for this information this was my second choice in purchasing my first vlog camera 🎥 📖
Is it good for professional work ?
I want to use it for music videos
I mean it have Picture Profiles
120fps in Full Hd
4k no crop
Changeable Lenses
And the price is very good
I was about to purchase a6100 which is more expensive than zve10 but the features are less in a6100
What's the catch ?
This camera have everything I need
Is this don't camera record Audio in 120fps , I think it records
Why this camera is cheaper than a6100
In my budget I can't purchase a6400 but I can purchase a6100
But Zve10 is even cheaper than a6100 with more features like picture profiles
I'm really confused
You say you reviewed this sensor already?? where can I find you dynamic range tests???
I have a couple of questions that aren't related to this video, but I don't know how else to ask... I shoot on the Canon R5. Is the 1080p on that camera downsampled from 4K, like the 4K is from 8K? And why can't we shoot RAW in 4K or 4K HQ, or 1080 for that matter? Thank you.
Can you do a demo using the hdmi output so we can see quality for streaming?
Does it write gyro data for better stabilization in post (like the A7S3 and A7C)?
Does it have the same weird polarization issue like the ZV-1 when looking at the screen with sunglasses?
Yes, gyro stabilization
Good review. I've had a zv-e10 for a few months now I and really like how much bang for my buck Im getting. Used this video as part of my deciding to get it, now coming back to see if the active stabilization is as bad for others as it feels for me. Just wayy to jittery and gives you a false sense of security. It's a broken crutch. To people using this camera, don't rely on it.
Gerald ! Awesome review .
Will you be lending this Camera to Camera conspiracies ? You for specs and Casey for vlogging !
Stabe looks good !
I may have to upgrade from ZV-1. Like the larger battery and hp out jack.
