That Seeker token riddle is unnecessarily cruel.
I have found 22 at the point of finding her. I spent 3 hours with map genie trying to find the first and yet to do. Inn saved before meeting her. Time ran out reloaded. Keep on looking tomorrow😢
@@watchnhate6851 mapgenie has an interactive map that you can type seeker into the search and it shows all locations. I had to use that and backtrack through the starter area to find the one I picked up first while constantly alt-tab'ing. This part was such a pain that after it I just went back to killing stuff as I could not be bothered to continue her questline.
luckily if youre pc you can simply download the mod thats super fast and easy which will mark your first seeker location for you
You don’t have to find it to continue her quest tho, you just miss out on that one chest tied to that riddle.

Pro tip: In the castle, right before climbing up and getting to the cyclops, there is a little room off the the right. This room has a tome needed for the sorcerer and mage meister quests, and a key to the Vernworth castle vault, which is loaded with loot and a box of 20,000 gold.

Riddle pro tip. You can give any item to the sphinx. She gives it back, and you get an additional copy of the item in the chest. The pro move is to give her the portcrystal.

I had a grand total of 132 tokens before I found the sphinx. I spent my first 40 hours just exploring.
Don't worry, so long as you can somewhat remember where you probably got your first token, get Trickster's Detection Passive, which will ALSO work on the Finder's Token.
In case anyone hasn't kept track. Her wings light up the amount of riddles you've answered. ✨

for those of you who forgot their first seeker token and who still wanna do this, look up a map with all tokens in the starting region and just go collect them all its highly likely that your first one was around melve.
This is what I had to do. I knew it was near the beginning cause I was confused when I found it, but it took searching 5 locations before I found it

Although this guide was helpful. I didn’t realize I could use any item. Having a dupe Portcrystal is infinitely more important than a gold beetle. I would add a pin or warning or re-edit. It’s pretty detrimental for people to miss out on a second portcrystal vs a mere beetle.

Riddle of Conviction - you can give Sphinx any item, literally any, and it will be doubled as a reward. Do not waste this opportunity on a beetle, please!

Another tip: You don't have to follow that route to go find the shrine. You can grab onto the sphynx before she leaves and she will take you right to it. Just leave your portcrystal at the mountain shrine for the chest. You can release her so you don't drain stamina since she flys straight 95% of the way there, just make sure to grab back onto her once she heads into Thunderclap Cavern

@@LieThePenguin afaik you can't grab her then, you have to kill her before she flies off
SphinxMother, SphinxFather, and SphinxParent are all viable pawns to offer to the sphinx for the Riddle of Wisdom; I think any will work, but there may be some fiddly-ness with recognizing the moniker as valid, and the only way to be sure that any of them will work is to use an official-Capcom pawn. Sort pawns by Username and a blank Username will be a Capcom-made pawn. I was able to complete the riddle with SphinxMother.
It makes so much more sense now why there were so many Sphinx-named pawns at that riftstone nearby. I thought someone just really liked sphinxes 🤣
Another tip I just found out, just go to pawn search and check if there is no profile on the sphinx. I saw ppl put the name but have a profile
@CorvusSolitario i came across it not long ago and searched up why because i even checked to see if they were made by the same people i have two sphinx parents in my party for a while, a mage and a sorceror who have done me very well

You won’t fail the quest if you can’t find your first seeker coin. After searching for hours I just couldn’t find it. I came back in defeat, but I was surprised. Instead of failing, I just didn’t receive the reward for the fifth chest! I travelled on the Sphinx to her next location. I only received 100,000 g exactly but she let me continue the quest.
Edit: So since I solved 5 riddles in total (4/5 at her first location + the relocation riddle), I thought that the answer for the total riddles solved would change from 6 to 5 for me. That wasn’t the case. She words it weird but she doesn’t want to know how many you SOLVED, she wants to know HOW MANY there were in total thus far. Therefore it’s still 6. Hope that helps
If you do fail the part about how many riddles so far, the quest will be over.

Oh also for those who forgot where you picked up the first seekers token. Make the riddle quest active and go pay a seer 50 gold in the main city. She will give you a hint to find it.
Update: as of recently after the update iv noticed that the hint provided may not be accurate and she may give you a basic respons. If this is the case use a forgery token, this works as well, just remember to save as I tested it out and it does run the chance of the sphinx turning hostile or not giving the next riddle.

Seeker's Tokens - 2 in Melve itself. 1 - all the way up top the broken down tower with balista. Right behind the balista. 2 - the other is in between balista tower and house. There are wooden beams that you can jump through. Near the river at the bottom practically straight behind the house

You can also grab onto the sphinx when they fly off to the second location and as a thief with more stamina focus I was able to ride the sphinx all the way to the second location it's very epic

My first Seekers token was in a broken shed up the mountain near the first outpost of the game. You had to fight through a slime infested cave to get to the shed so that is where i found mine.

Got really unlucky in that the last quest she gave was the one with the arrow as the reward. Fortunately Tag's advice on changing into Archer gear before doing the final really helped. Had to run over to the chest, open it, and then equip the arrow before turning around and shooting her. Was just a second away from her leaving, but got it done!
She flapped her wing the exact moment I shot my arrow. Got her to 10% on normal fight and she escaped. Really really fun, love it.
2:19 top for anyone that wants to kill that drake. There are 2 VERY BIG AND STRONG ballistae at the top of the castle. They do alot of dmg but get destroyed by the drake if you cant stunlock it by knocking it out of the air. 5-6 charged shots killed it for me.

You can use any pawn named SphinxParent, SphinxFather, or SphinxMother. Not only Parent.
Can confirm. Rift gave me 2 moms(nice) and a dad. I grabbed a mom(nice) and that worked(nice).
Even if it's a random players pawn? There are a lot of people out there who have named their pawns parent, father and mother.
@@RotGodKing Did you ever figure this out ? Im having the same issue as you, ALOT of people have named their pawns the same and I got a feeling they have to be trolling.
Go into options and turn off network functions then only the valid "parent" pawn can spawn
You can talk to the pawn and it will show their card and who they belong to at the bottom. Pick the one that says capcom not a persons gamer name.
If you’re unlucky like me, I got the riddle which reward is the unmaking arrow last… so you have to open the chest as fast as you can, equip it, spin around and shoot her with it as fast as you can. I was so stressed but managed it 😅
Their is a little side quest/escort mission that took me here and he gives you a jey to a room behind a crate you can break which gives a really nice early duo spear if you haven't gotten or seen it yet. Has a permanent fire buff on it
So everyone is aware, if you pick no instead of yes when the sqhinx asks if that is your answer you wont get a second chance to answer the riddle
Man 46 tokens deep and i just started this i was sweatin bullets going back to the beginning but it was there. So for that thank you.
Damn, there goes the next few hours for me. I went to the ancient battlefield on my own and thought "There's no way" and turned around.
Look what it cost me, fear gets you nothing. But 30 hours in, I really hope I remember it right where I found my first seeker token.
Honestly, you are better off doing the Sphinx quests at a later level, after you have already discovered all the key areas / cities / villages in a natural way through the story missions. Trying to do all of this at an early level straight out of the first village in the game would be a nightmare for several reasons. The Sphinx quests are A LOT more fun when you are at a high enough level where you already have several portcrystals already set up at key locations and you are at a high enough level to get into fights with all the monsters on the way to the two Sphinx lairs (resulting in a nice amount of experience points and loot). Trying to out run all the monsters with a low level character is eventually going to fail (some of the monsters in this game will chase after the player without stopping).
Also,
Trying to get to Bakbattahl at a low level on foot in order to set up a portacrystal there to do the vase riddle there would be a freaking nightmare for a low level (keep in mind there is NO Ox Cart to BakBattahl when first arriving at that area because of Coral Snakes situation, something a low level player wouldn't be able to fix). Also, the huge monsters on the way to the second Sphinx lair (specifically the highly aggressive Minotaurs and the Chimera) with that horribly dark and rainy weather that starts up automatically on that route which makes it hard to see would be freaking nightmare for a low level.
TLDR:
Doing the Sphinx quests later in the game after the player is strong enough would be the intelligent thing to do.
Apparently those murals contain tips on how to actually defeat the sphinx without the arrow. According to another comment I found you have to fight her without your pawns (put them on wait) and no matter what do NOT hit her head, or her chest during the fight. Wings, legs, and back are all fine, but no attacking the head or chest. I haven't confirmed this, but it may just be better to use the arrow tbh.

As a minor tip for pawns and pathways that are intakill for them, have them stay then continue to traverse once you've made it through command your pawns to return while looking away, they'll just tp behind you stress free.

ETA. Instead of using the port crystal after the 2nd quest, do the quest of conviction and offer the sphinx the port crystal which will dupe it.
Tag can you do a video on how to get the Warfarer specifically & positives and negatives of the vocation? Soz if you’ve already gotten to it
it's not true that you can only defeat the sphinx by using the unmaking arrow on her wing. the mural on the vase is a clue, there are wounds all over her body but not her face or chest. as long as you attack only her heavily jeweled body parts (wings, tail, legs, etc) until they become visibly wounded, you can defeat her without wasting your unmaking arrow.

@@jeffo2160 you've gotta get her before she flies away, basically just immediately start attacking her body (not her face or chest or she'll get offended and leave, typical)
for the people that dont remember the first token location. FYI when you go into new game + the first one you pick up from that point counts. i basically went trough 35 token locations and eventually found it as my first pick up in new game +. so its not a complete fix but at least you can still get it in new game + unless you got literally all the tokens in your new game

Bigger Pro tip if never done this quest doing it from start there seeker stone right after fight sleeping cyclopes on other side wall also one in cave you have go through to get to Sphinx which makes trip faster if don't pick up any of stones before hand.
This shit creeps me tf out lol. I actually got to the second temple from the south by climbing an enormous mountain and going through Thunderclap cave, and by the time I got to it it was pouring rain and pitch black. At the top of the mountain, after traversing some ridiculous terrain in pitch black weather, I had to fight a Minotaur and immediately after that, a Chimera, just to get to the Temple itself. That temple in pitch black is terrifying, especially when you don't know if this...thing, is gonna slowly lurk out of the dark
Just finished this and the hardest part was figuring out how to fire a bow lmao. Haven’t played archery up to this point so she almost got away. Got a clutch kill though.
Also, if you don’t have archer simply do NOT approach her after your final chest is done. You can leave and come back with archer equipped to trigger her leaving.

The first thing I did with the seeker's token's, was to pick up the one that was in Melvin up in the tower and put a portalcrystal outside. Very simple.

I found a wild skip to get to the sphinx from the Illdoer's resting place. Alot of parkouring to leave that area and it puts you right at the sphyinx stair case without having to fight the golems or ogres.... but it's not at all easier, infact i'd say this guide's route is better. Just found it funny that it dropped me right infront of the sphinx and I had no idea i was actually progressing "backwards"

Just pull up the interactive map for DD2, click hide all and then click to show only Seeker's Tokens, helped me out, found the Finder's Token in the Harpy Nest for me.
I’m playing on ps5 and on the map, I don’t see an option for hide all to narrow the search. I remember getting mine at the first or second location on a bird’s nest.

For me, the first token was easy to remember. It was in the harpy's nest where a combo of goblins and harpy first appeared in the starting zone. It was memorable because it taught me about the sleep mechanic and how to deal with fliers while my party is made up of only melee.

Riddle of Conviction = Duplication. Doesn't matter what you give, The Sphinx gives it back and you get another of whatever you gave. I used a Port Crystal :)
Eternal wakestone issue: Don't want to spoil, but if the situation you are referring to is related to a certain pawn illness, it does not work in that situation. At least, it did not in my experience.

I'm screwed, I don't remember where I got my first seekers token lol I only have 5 so far.
I only had 2 but didnt remeber, what i did, was not start the rumination riddle (and thus not start the 7 day countdown) andlooked up locations for the seeker tokens, and just went down the list of ones i havent (skipped) ones i might have (and checked them out) and then ones that idefinitely did (marked them to go back to once i start the quest). For me it was easy beause only 2 spots could have been it, but i ended up getting like 20 tokens checking different possible spots before i found the two lol

Whelp I won't be able to complete this I don't remember where I found my first seeker token
I literally managed to find the Finder's token. It was by the Riftstone of the Straightforward for me. I just had to scour nearly all of Vermund and went from 22 Tokens to 56 of them. This took way more than 7 in-game days. Thank god that there really isn't a time limit as long as you don't speak to her until you have it in your inventory!
I also got so unlucky as to have the Riddles questions be my last riddles. So I couldn't get the Unmaking arrow beforehand. I hand to spend Wyrmcrystals at the Dragonforged to get it.

Btw if you truly don't want to use the arrow of unmaking, you can climb on her back and go to her rear and only strike that, for those more observant, you can find a mural of the sphinx at the mountain shrine that depicts spears being lodge into her rear, same for the pot in one of the riddles
fun point: if you havn't collected a single seeker coin, she tells you to find one and something more, so if your in that position you can go into the cave system that leads to the golems, i found my first one there with a finders token too

The rumination one is real dumb. If a player grabbed one and didn't remember then they are punished forever

I think it's awesome. More games need to have stakes like this. The attitude of it being "real dumb" is the mentality leading games down the corporate and formulaic design path that far too many games suffer from.

For those struggling to find sphinx parent as there is a TON of copy cat trolls. Turn off your network in settings then search link rift stone of fellowship and find the parent that way. Once done turn back on your network. Simples.
When you disable online one of your pawns can become the SphinxParent, but if you want to look for it the sphinx parent is made by CAPCOM.
Maybe search for the one made by CAPCOM?
Having to remember where your first seeker token was for a secret quest is quite possibly the stupidest thing in this entire game.

Pro Tip: First Seeker's token you can possibly find will be right after making your Main Pawn, on top of the blacksmith hut, accessible by climbing a nearby cart and clearing a small gap between roofs. Interested in seeing what happens if you do this riddle without having found ANY tokens, though!

just confirmed this for myself but you can use a player pawn for the sphinx parent riddle so long as it has the correct name of SphinxParent
Everybody keeps talking about duping port crystals and stuff but she also duplicates weapons and armor specifically the ones you can only get once from seeker token rewards. So if you want two charming corsets one for your pawn and one for the Arisen try to get that first before seeing the Sphinx. The charming corset isn't just for looks it has some of the best armor stats in the game and every class can use it.
