- Talking about credit cards can be triggering for some people. But Disney is expensive...VACATIONS are expensive. While budgeting and saving is important sometimes credit cards are essential in planning these large trips. Instead of avoiding the credit card topic we want to help answer some questions and expose the benefits of having a Military Star card so that you can use it to save money on your next trip to Disney OR at Hale Koa Hotel in Hawaii. In this video we are calling Military Star directly for answers to the most common questions we see about their policies. And to our surprise, and maybe yours, there have been some changes. Suggestion: I would like to see some new videos on military savings tips in many other ways (shopping, traveling, anything). It seems as though your channel is revolved heavily around "Disney" content.
Thank you for the suggestion! Its a balancing act with our video topics. We want to film what we love and also what YOU all love to watch. We get our direction from the video analytics but more importantly from comments like this. We are primarily military focused but we are absolutely Disney adjacent. I think that is our "niche" if we have to name one. Its what we love and its where we go often. But we do other things too and whenever I have a chance to highlight military discounts or opportunities I will absolutely include them. I appreciate your input here :)

I pay for the SOG trip and tickets for my next visit the day I check in.
Ya know, you’re not the only one who does this. I’ve seen lots of people take trips to Hale Koa that say they do the same thing. It’s a great plan! I love that we can book these visits without putting the money out right away too. The flexibility is awesome 👏🏼
Keep in mind (if this is reported on your credit report) opening and closing accounts will lower the average age of your credit accounts. So if you do this 3x a year, that’s 3 closed accounts each year added to your credit report history. After 5 years, that’s 15 opened and closed accounts…
Yep that’s a good point to make when considering healthy credit habits! Like I was saying, not necessarily advisable to open and close accounts multiple times but in a situation where you have more than one vacation planned it’s one valid way to save. We love sharing helpful tips like this but I always worry about folks being irresponsible with their credit. Hopefully our viewers know what’s best and financially realistic for their families ☺️

Thank you so much! You’re too sweet! Yes, you CAN pay early if that’s what you wish to do. You can ask for a remittance form from SOG…just fill it out and email it with your payment info. 😊
Slightly off topic...are there any bases nearby Disney World to take Space A flights? I am in CA so my closest one is Travis AFB. If not a direct flight, then what's the closest base nearby?
Space A flights are something we don't have direct experience with so I couldn't refer you to any particular base. We joined some FB groups though to start learning more about it and want to try to do this in the future (and will definitely film and document the process). I would recommend finding a specific group to ask this question. I'm sure you'll get some great info from experienced users there.
Does the 10/ 15% apply on the first day use and not the first date it was issued?
The savings are initiated on the first day of use. So you can open the card anytime…just wait to use it for the first time when they have the 15% to maximize 😊
So how can you charge your tickets and hotel on the same day without waiting until check-in to purchase your tickets so you can take advantage of the first use discount? If you wait until then you might not be able to make dining reservations, etc.
It kind of depends on how you’re planning. Some use the remittance form to pay for their stay upfront (and then you can purchase the tickets at the same time). Some people will go on a trip and then purchase tickets for their NEXT trip when they check out. As far as dining reservations etc…some people just go and make their plans on a whim. That’s actually how we do it. For instance, our last trip that we just returned from…we bought tickets there at shades ticket counter, made park reservations the night before our park day and then even got last minute reservations for Crystal Palace breakfast buffet the next morning. Sometimes last minute plans work out 🥳 Of course, sometimes they don’t…but we are pretty flexible. If it’s your first trip to Disney and you’re trying to pack everything into a few days that may not be the best plan of action.
