I'm really not looking forward to the process next year.

My son tried to apply, but my niece hadn't accepted to be linked to his MDE, so they wouldn't even consider him and allow her to join later. Which is ridiculous. Another thing that changed, when we went in January 2024, he was allowed to take 5 people with him, and we had 11 total, but it helped him ride with his niece and nephews. The other thing they did, was drop the ability to pre-book 3 rides each day. It feels like they are really pushing people to spend $ especially since the Premier Pass came out close to the same time they started denying people who had always qualified in the past for DAS. Just my thoughts of course. Thank you for sharing. We are going on Monday night to Disney Springs and fingers crossed he qualifies.

I will say to be careful with writing things down for a family member you are trying to help. A friend of mine who has Autism had her family help her write things down about her experiences in line so she wouldn’t forget because she tends to have sticky thinking and can be slow to respond. She gets nervous and has high anxiety and will sometimes not know how to answer the question. They denied her because they can see that she is clearly reading off a script. She tried to explain that she wrote them down herself because she has a hard time remembering but they said no. They can’t be sure that she’s just not reading a prompt or script.

Thank you for this helpful video. I’ve dreaded discussing my issues with a cast member and felt as uncomfortable as your husband did, but your video gave me enough hope to try. Though my request was ultimately denied, I wouldn’t have attempted it without your example. Glad they were able to work with you. This was a big step for me, so thank you. I hope Disney continues working to improve accommodations for veterans. It’s encouraging to know they’re making an effort.

My husband has a hard time sharing his struggles with the cast members as well but knows that our trips would never work without it. We were approved in Disneyland after the changes but haven’t been back to WDW yet to try our luck there. We go for sure in May so we will see. Thank you for sharing your experience!

We tried again today and they put some medical representative on there and it was up to the medical guy as to whether or not you are DAS pass worthy.. super ridiculous.

We went through the process with Disneyland in May. My son is on the spectrum, you can’t tell by looking at him. But he has dyspraxia and stims A LOT. Part of the stimulation for him has to do with humming a lot and moving in circles and spinning. He will bump in to people and can be annoying for people who don’t know him. Having to explain this is tough because I worry that they would deny him just by looking at him.

I’m a 100% disabled veteran and just thinking about talking to a stranger about my issues gives me allot of anxiety. Although, standing in lines with heavy amount of people in close proximity also isn’t great. Thanks for the information. ❤

Next time you’re there ask why they are still charging for self parking when Disney resorts stopped the practice last year. I did and was told “It’s a rule we have”. Serving those who served? I don’t think so.

We specifically booked a deluxe resort because we wanted the extended park hours, so it’s awesome that we get to save money AND keep that perk. 🎉

This is as simple as I can put it: Even if you have Autism, you have a lot better chance of being accepted into an Ivy League University or even Stanford University than you do getting approved for DAS.

Have stayed at shades 4 times, twice magnolia, twice palm. Have to say we much prefer palm. Newer, quieter, things seem to work better, better vibe, and really not that far to the restaurants. Thanks so much for another great video!

This was great! I always wonder what the real differences are (besides basic location). It’s hard to remember when your stays are farther apart.

When we went to Disney Springs, the bus driver told us to take a picture of the bus stop sign. That was so helpful! By the time we were left the Springs, I would not have remembered which bus stop to go to without that picture. All the Shades of Green bus drivers are fantastic!

We stay in room 206 when we stay. Now I know what side we stay on. It's the Magnolia side. Great room and request it each time. It also doesn't have a joining room door.

We stayed there on the Magnolia side in July, room 248, which had a pool view. I had requested double sinks, but we only had one in our bathroom. Our room did have a ceiling fan over the beds, though. We’ve stayed on the Palm side before, and I don’t really have a preference between the 2 sides, although I do like being closer to the pool and restaurants on the Magnolia side.

I wouldn’t go to Disney until the woke are fired and cleared out. I’m not helping fund the continued destruction of iconic Disney park stuff. And they also went out of their way to block a road that vets used to drive I think to Polynesian. They offered to pay for it themselves and Disney bulldozed the road on the other side. They’re run by woke evil narcissists.

Thank you for this! We stayed palm last time and the only thing available for our December trip was poolside on the magnolia side. It’s good to see the rooms on that side to know what to expect.
