Do you have to buy the herringbone engineered wood floor to do this, or can you just arrange the normal engineered floor planks in a herringbone pattern?? Having a hard time finding a Herrington product that matches the colour I’m after
@@TheEberharts to be frank, i'm 40 and after working on my feet for most of my life, my body hates me lol. So I will for sure be hiring people to help. Did a full reno on a 100 year old house. Gutted it. Have never physically felt the same since. But sure you guys are taking care of your body!
Looks amazing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't you leave an expansion gap where the floor meets the walls? Otherwise you'll suffer from creaking floors due to varying temperatures and humidity
@@TheEberharts brilliant. Thank you. I plan to DIY next month. Unfortunately the most difficult aspect is near the walls and doorways, radiator pipes. Hopefully it's not too big of a task for a novice. Could you post a list of tools/power tools(amazon links) used in the description please? I need to invest in the coming weeks.
I’ve gone with a very similar colour and style herringbone. Doing my install in the next couple of weeks. What I was hoping to see in this video is how you did the edge cuts in particular down the hall way?! Is there any particular short cut to do this nice and easy or is it just a manual tedious task of one by one? I’m in Melbourne so maybe you can come and give me a hand 😉 Oh also - at the start when you make your triangle cut at the front door, you don’t line up the tip of the pattern/board with the centreline. This has me confused. Is there any method to this or you just wanted it to be slightly off centre?
Hello! A fellow Melbournian. Hi Davey! Great choice on going herringbone, it's tedious but worth it! There is no shortcut to doing the edges down a hallway, they need to be cut and installed 1 by 1. If your centre line is parallel with your walls then each of these boards will be identical, so that makes cutting them much easier! As for lining up the centre line for herringbone, it isn't at the point of your triangle as it alternates each plank. The true centre is in fact halfway between both points. check out our website article for more information on installation. 🥰
Absolutely stunning! What a transformation.
Thank you John! Really coming together now!

Hi! Great question. Unfortunately not, a herringbone pattern engineered floorboard has a specific tongue and groove pattern at the end of each board.
I don’t even own a home but I will do this one day lol. I have always been obsessed with these floors
Are they absolutely gorgeous! Definitely a bucket list home item for us too! ❤️

You're absolutely right and we left a 5-10mm gap along all our edges. Hope that helps!
