    That barracks was destroyed in 1945 by Germans. During 1939 campaign it was almost intact. That tower was build after war as a part of Polish military infrastructure, not longer in use . There's still army base in Westerplatte. Train you've mentioned wasn't set in fire by Germans but because of defenders 37 mm anti tank cannons fire.

    You missed one point on your tour. The strike at the Shipyard named Lenin initiated the fall of communism (1980). The European center of solidarity is located at the historic gate to the shipyard. It is worth visiting them.

    Gdańsk the city throughout its history 1000 years 600 plus the city was polish. Just like parts of poland taken through last 1000 years. So this is the question. How can we accurately defin origins of a nation.
    Incredible people we must never betrayed them. They're truly Europeans.
