+dereksbooks Those are the examples you name? Swift and Drake are hardly worth mentioning in a negative light. Now, if you had mentioned Chris Brown and Kanye West, than you'd be on the right track.
The one live show I went to was everything I ever wanted. Tossing tambourines, sharing wine, jumping around it’s just as much fun for them as it was for everyone in the stadium. Love em!!!
Because eddie is that kid that happened to even meet his heroes and be appreciated by them. He always puts joy and respect in his covers, way more than when playing his own songs
@@EclecticCleric Spot on. Pearl Jam have so much energy, like the Who did in the day. Every one of the band were loving and having fun with their performance 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Fantastic! I can't choose which is the best, this cover or the original. But i guess it doesn't really matter. Great job, so powerful. Thanks God Pearl Jam and The Who exist!
I made it a tradition to always listened to this performance at the end of every college semester to celebrate my hard work, I just turned in my last exam for senior year and it’s so crazy to look back at where I was the last several times I listen to this
I honstly don't know what it is, but this whole video gives off amazing vibes for me. I feel like they are all so happy when they are paying tribute to the who, especially since the crowd gets so into it. I know that pumps the artists up even more. great vid, great band, great song.
And why not? Performing a rock & roll classic - no, the anthem of the rock & roll generation - in the cathedral of rock & roll, with 15,000 fans singing along - no, taking over - it's every rocker's dream!
Just love the energy that the whole band brings to this song. And off course the audience singing in tandem for that short chorus. All in all just love Pearl Jam wit this classic
Agreed, this is about the best part of it. You have PJ playing a cover and the audience still belt it out like it's one of their own. That's exactly how it would have gone down in a The Who gig. Big smiles all round... it's a damn nice cover.
I saw The Who -- with Pino Palladino & Zach Starkey -- maybe 10 years ago at a huge venue. I was there with my 20-something son, & there were people who were there w/their children _and_ grandchildren. Three generatiions belting out "Don't cry, don't raise your eye, it's only teenage wasteland." "Epic" is an overused term, but that truly was an epic moment. And I hope that I live to take _my_ grandchild to experience the sharing of great music across generations.
Never imagined any band other than The Who performing this song. A pretty good rendition, of course, missing several of the classic elements, but obviously the crowd grew up listening to our fogey rock ... and loved every second of it.
Probably the ONLY Band out there that can cover this song!!!! I have yet to see a GREAT cover of this song! Eddie pulls it off! Hell he is one of very few lead young guys that the old MASTERS of rock would allow on the stage with them. Eddie is always on stage with some GREAT classic rocker.
Brilliant band! Without doubt the closest to The Who, who are my favourite band of all time, but growing up I also liked Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Yes and a few others, but if I was young today, Pearl Jam would be my #1 favourite band - they have musical talent, amazing energy and stage presence (as The Who did when they took the rock world by storm!) They're superb 👏👏👏👏👏👏
And here we have a bunch of blokes enjoying themselves on stage and getting the entire crowd pumped. In other words, a good old fashioned bunch of fun!
what a massive kick, to play a fantastic song, from one of your biggest idols ... and pull it off!!!! awesome Pearl Jam!!!!!! .... one of the few who could do it!
The one guy who could sing this song BETTER than Roger Daltrey! This has got to be the GREATEST Old meets New stage performances. To see the utter joy on Roger Daltrey's face playing with these amazing musicians and stage performers. It probably was his greatest gig ever. It is like watching the inventor of the combustion engine see what it's like to be turned into a Harley.
In my opinion, WHO are best rock band ever...with Tommy and Quadrophenia they catched immortality! And, hear a group of 2 generation after, pay tribute to them with this joy and involvement is fantastic!
Music is the best facet of humanity
Albert Hofmann And also the worst, see Taylor Swift, Drake, etc.

La La Land sounds like a lovely place.
Matthew VandenBerg What William said. I was referring to the actual music. No judgment on Swift as a person. I don't know anything about her.
lol. this song is old school. was this on ranbow or w.ever his name is or some movie w/Arnold s.? feels tread millish
Is it just me or does that show look like the most fun in the world?
They always are!!!! ;)
The one live show I went to was everything I ever wanted. Tossing tambourines, sharing wine, jumping around it’s just as much fun for them as it was for everyone in the stadium. Love em!!!
My absolute dream is to go to a Pearl Jam show. It’s bucket list for me!
Because it's from 2003, before the world decided to spend their life looking at/through a cell phone instead of enjoying something live.
When people were not enslaved to use their mobiles
A song you wish would never end
casperld and you wish you could right something as good stands up today
Well said!
The Who contributed some real masterpieces!
Ikrr
i wish wishlist never end
The crowd singing, chills.
Spot on. Best part of the performance for me as well.
No generation was considered more of a teenage wasteland than the X-ers. This is out anthem.
Man....the smiles on these guys faces. It's always fun playing the songs of your heroes.
You will never find a band that looks to be more genuinely happy when doing a a cover than Pearl Jam.

Best “Baba O’Riley” cover I’ve ever listened to. It’s got the pure spirit of the original, but it’s great in its own way.
Agreed. I always caution against covering The Who - no one has as much energy, but this is close.

Best moment of the song.

One of the best Baba O Riley covers, Pearl Jam kept the heart and soul of this classic - Great tribute to The Who.
the amount of joy everyone had when they recognized the song is what rock and roll is all about
His voice is friggin legendary!!
I saw Pearl Jam play Baba O'Riley in 1993, it was a spiritual experience.

Jeff is so adorable! jumping around like a happy kid! This crowd is beautiful! I wish I was there

As one of many millions of "Biggest Who Fans In The World" I highly approve of the energy and rockingness here!
How think in a different way...that's MUSIC & LIFE!!!
