He’s kept making great to mind blowing music throughout the decades since. He came put better than all of us mere mortals. Be glad you were alive in the time of Robert Pollard. Check out Boston Spaceships too
Uncle Bob kickin it's ass. Dayton is blessed for such a vocalist and prolific song writer. Bob I call my friend. Dayton we call him our Legend. Our finest. Always bring your finest.
Eddie Vedder about Moses on a Snail: "It sounds to me like Robert Pollard uncharacteristically took ten years to make this one. He will tell you otherwise, but I don't believe him. It's too fucking good. If it were any other group this would be seen as their masterpiece. I think for Bob it's just another good day of weaving words into a kaleidoscope of one of a kind, thought-provoking perspectives"
I was at this show, and this song holds an awesome significance to me. Dec. 3, 1979 -11 people lost thier lives at this very venue while trying to get in to a Who concert. Blows my mind. I have seen about 150 shows, and would never think I could ever be in danger. That night in 1979 was different. When this song played-I know that is was special-for those who died especially. The crowd's reaction is evident. Thanks PJ-for the memorable night and tribute to those eleven lost.
cs br Riverfront Stadium was long gone by this point (2006) that was the actual site of the collapse back in 1979. This PJ show was at the us bank arena next door to the great American ballpark in downtown cincy. It's a great moment having Pollard out there
It’s a bit sad but very few people in that audience had any idea who he was. Maybe if they were there the night before and had a chance to research it, they did.
i have who tourettes im screaming out here in the fields i fight 4 my meals ,my neighbour is stamping her feet loudly ,im sorry its uncle bob singing the song of the streets
I agree with you @SpookyApparation ! I've seen GBV MANY times over the years. Saw them again at the Grog Shop just last month and the current lineup is VERY SOLID indeed. And with Doug Gillard in the fold they played "I am a tree" which is a personal fave even if it isn't really a GBV (read that as Bob since Bob = GBV more or less) song.
vedder's vocals were awesome for about the first three albums then took a nose dive into the dumpster. pollard's vocals have remained consistent for thirty years, imo
of course he knows the lyrics.... i think the sharing of vocal duties, the giant crowd, the wonky sound (you could hear the feedback) and probably the 73rd beer of the night threw him off...... I've seen him sing that song to perfection on video and live numerous times
first thing that i noticed.. pollard drunk as usual, having the time of his life, while vedder sober as fuck like showing off at the karaoke bar for the local crowd.. i mean, they both at the freakin' karaoke.. but one's having fun.
I just watched this video again, Pollard is embarrassingly drunk. Eddie carries him. back in 1990, Yo La Tengo was an amazing guitar distortion band. People get old. Not everyone can be rock stars... some get to act like fools on stage and get praise. uncle Bob is one of em'
What a privilege it must have been for Pearl Jam to play with one of the greatest songwriters of all time.
the greatest band of all time .... with Pearl Jam
Hahahaha
Absolutely!!
he doesn't even know the word. dude. serious malfunction.
This guy gets it
ANDY KING richtig!
Very gracious of Bob to let Pearl Jam warm up the crowd for him.
hahah, agreed!!
PJ should feel privileged to share a stage with one of the best song writers of all time. GBV Pollard
Eh. Fine indie band.
I’m sure they appreciate Bob and GBV too. They give exposure to bands like this on tour and have forever. I love that about them.
pollard is a living fucking legend
THE BOB POLLARD KICK NEVER FAILS
Robert Pollard is the true Alternative hero of the 90's.
LOL, no.
Mike Oneill you’ve no taste, Mike!
He’s kept making great to mind blowing music throughout the decades since. He came put better than all of us mere mortals. Be glad you were alive in the time of Robert Pollard. Check out Boston Spaceships too
doesn't get much better than Uncle Bob's kick at 2:25
legend
Uncle Bob kickin it's ass. Dayton is blessed for such a vocalist and prolific song writer. Bob I call my friend. Dayton we call him our Legend. Our finest. Always bring your finest.
Robert Pollard is SUCH a great performer. Love that guy
Robert Pollard high kicks STILL on point.
Robert Pollard/GBV have written some of the catchiest songs I’ve ever heard
Was lucky enough to chill with RP at a bar in Dayton a bit ago. Shots and music talk...incredible guy and talent
Alex Sepi Lucky bastard.
Eddie Vedder about Moses on a Snail: "It sounds to me like Robert Pollard uncharacteristically took ten years to make this one. He will tell you otherwise, but I don't believe him. Just saw GBV again at the end of 2018, was right up front and it was awesome. Pollard STILL DOING HIGH KICKS!
Drinking a beer while singing is such a great look.. Love ya Bobby!!
the moment bobby hit the high kick at 2:28 i got tingles down my spine
I love how Bob is doing Daltrey's voice.
Mister Robert Pollard representing the Golden Triangle once more GBV GBV GBV....
Bob's less animated than I would have hoped--but he did get in at least one BigKick. Two of the greatest bands on earth.

It's a great moment having Pollard out there
@@furnitureconsortium The Who show (and this one) were both indoors at the arena (same building.) I’m almost sure Pollard was at The Who show in ‘79.
@@furnitureconsortium The Who tragedy occurred at Riverfront Coliseum (US Bank Arena), not Riverfront Stadium which sat next door.
I wonder how many in the crowd thought Bob actually was from The Who?
I just find it great that Pearl Jam is giving props to GBV...and gr w at vocals by the way, Bob!
Compelling
Bob has my vote for best singer and drinker
And even Stone is having fun
I was at this show!!!! EPIC!!
Hi Lawanda!!!
wowzer! Pollard is channeling Daltry to a tee!
Holy ess. This is an amazing video. Would've blow my mind if I had been there. Love Pearl Jam and Bob is a genius.
I love that Eddie gave props to GBV and Fugazi during his Rock Hall of Fame speech
1:27 when Bob hits that note perfectly, the keyboard guy appreciates.
The best frontman of this time - Bob Pollard!!!
I love that Eddie says "Cincinnati" and Bob corrects him and says "Dayton!" lol
VETTER COULD ONLY WISH HE WAS AS KOOL AS POLLARD. KEEP DREAMING!
Stonedcomedianringo! One of my favorite lyrics😂
2:35 I just love Stone. He's that guy who doesn't need no others to party!
Omg, Robert Pollard is so me 🙌🏻
bob rules
Yes!!
Wonderful!
I've watched this video many times.
That was an awesome performance by everyone!!
Holy shit yes! Now that's a team up! Absolutely legendary.
Thank you stonedcomedianringo! This is pretty awesome!
WOW
It’s a bit sad but very few people in that audience had any idea who he was. Maybe if they were there the night before and had a chance to research it, they did.
Man, one dude I never met, who I think is cool as fuck, and one dude I have hung out with, and I know is cool as fuck. Ole!!!
beautiful. Bob looks pissed out of his skull
This is a fucking good thing right here!
Bobby and Eddie sing Roger and Pete! Does life get better?
This made my day!. Two masters at work.
@Matin43 it's in the description- June 24, 2006
So great that EV brought RP and X to play wit him.
I don't necessarily dislike PJ but they are not even in the same musical universe as GBV .. . .
Yeah right ... no
i have who tourettes im screaming out here in the fields i fight 4 my meals ,my neighbour is stamping her feet loudly ,im sorry its uncle bob singing the song of the streets
Long live Bob. I wish he wouldn't have broken up GBV..... again
GBV is back... again.
Dalesy617 current band with Doug back is the tightest GBV's ever been IMO. it's not even close
I agree with you @SpookyApparation ! I've seen GBV MANY times over the years. Saw them again at the Grog Shop just last month and the current lineup is VERY SOLID indeed. Bullshit.
Alex Robards
bull.....shit....dump....ster HA HA JOKES FUNNY LOL
Are you even listening?
Uncle Bobby Sunshine's vocals have taken a warbly hit as of late. not gonna lie. Peak was Mag Earwhig. Now, we're on our way down.
atomeyes99 right, he’s only 60....
With the possible exception of the one by The Waco Brothers ... this might be the finest cover version of Baba O'Riley ever recorded.
Pollard doesn't know the lyrics! Freakin' awesome!
That is awesome!
of course he knows the lyrics.... i think the sharing of vocal duties, the giant crowd, the wonky sound (you could hear the feedback) and probably the 73rd beer of the night threw him off...... I've seen him sing that song to perfection on video and live numerous times
Need more bob
I was thinking the same thing. I bet he was imagining he was Pete Townsend during this whole performance.
Soul sellers
Bob's vocals are the only reason why this is any good
Children, animals, and Bob Pollard...
its the ' Hey Everybody, Jump On One Foot'" Song
uncle bob pensando 6:17 dava pra tocar 2 musicas e contar uns causos e beber cerveja
lmao vedder is so sober
first thing that i noticed.. pollard drunk as usual, having the time of his life, while vedder sober as fuck like showing off at the karaoke bar for the local crowd.. i mean, they both at the freakin' karaoke.. but one's having fun.
take ament and gossard and the vedster with you, let bob and jack do the work
the who's shirt
Its robert pollard and pj
that's a lot of CSI fans!
Did Eddie really say "he's a big man!" and then "a big man for a big song"?
Yes, yes he did haha. Bob's not even that big - his college baseball team listed him as 6' 1"
those tambourines weren't hurting anyone.
making sure Uncle Bob doesn't fall over :0
My first reaction to seeing this was, "my god, this is better than the second coming of christ"
:(
it's so funny to see how light weight Pearl Jam is...
Bob Pollard is a rock god.
and sh*t yeah it's cool.
Well this is an odd combination
The drums are awful and wrong. Or wait- they’re too good. Needs to be sloppy Moon.
Neither Pearl Jam or gbv are even talked about anymore
True spirit
I just watched this video again, Pollard is embarrassingly drunk. Eddie carries him.
back in 1990, Yo La Tengo was an amazing guitar distortion band.
People get old. Not everyone can be rock stars... some get to act like fools on stage and get praise. uncle Bob is one of em'
Idiot
