Is Christmas a Pagan Holiday?

  • Many have suggested that there are serious connections between the Christian celebration of Christmas and the Roman celebrations of their pagan gods, particularly Sol Invictus and Saturnalia. Is there truth to this? Why was December 25 chosen by Christians to commemorate Jesus' birth?

I am not worried about the pagan roots of Christmas. What concerns me is how paganized the celebration has become. We don’t respect Advent nor we observe the centre of the celebration which is Christ. We erased Christ from the celebration, now Christ is telling us: no celebration for us. Let us pray for forgiveness and repentance.

Your church chose the date for Christmas because of Christmas being at the height of the winter solstice and Yule Tide. 2 major pagan holidays. Fact is your religion is a pagan copycat. It's ripped off numerous pagan religions that predate christianity itself. That's including your Jesus.

You're concerned a pagan holiday is returning to its pagan roots? 😂 Oh no, how terrible that pagans are taking back their holidays and traditions that Christians stole, twisted and eradicated.
You say no one respects advent but why should they when you clearly don't respect people worshipping beliefs that predate Abrahimic religion? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Jesus wasn't born on the 25th of December.. This date was set by emperor Constantine because nobody knew an exact date.. This date was chosen because it is exactly 9 months after crucifixion and the 9 month period was chosen as reference to gestation..
History records show it was more likely to be in September..
The celebration of Christmas is a celebration of the winter solitice..

If catholics followed the bible word by word then a bunch of unwanted children due to cheating would not be born. For the lord said onto moses “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If a man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him 13 so that another man has sexual relations with her, and this is hidden from her husband and her impurity is undetected (since there is no witness against her and she has not been caught in the act), 14 and if feelings of jealousy come over her husband and he suspects his wife and she is impure-or if he is jealous and suspects her even though she is not impure- 15 then he is to take his wife to the priest. He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah[a] of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour olive oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder-offering to draw attention to wrongdoing.
16 “‘The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the Lord. 17 Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water. 18 After the priest has had the woman stand before the Lord, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder-offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. 19 Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, “If no other man has had sexual relations with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. 20 But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have made yourself impure by having sexual relations with a man other than your husband”- 21 here the priest is to put the woman under this curse-“may the Lord cause you to become a curse[b] among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell. 22 May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.”
“‘Then the woman is to say, “Amen. So be it.”
23 “‘The priest is to write these curses on a scroll and then wash them off into the bitter water. 24 He shall make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and this water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering will enter her. 25 The priest is to take from her hands the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the Lord and bring it to the altar. 26 The priest is then to take a handful of the grain offering as a memorial[c] offering and burn it on the altar; after that, he is to have the woman drink the water. 27 If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse. 28 If, however, the woman has not made herself impure, but is clean, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children.
29 “‘This, then, is the law of jealousy when a woman goes astray and makes herself impure while married to her husband, 30 or when feelings of jealousy come over a man because he suspects his wife. The priest is to have her stand before the Lord and is to apply this entire law to her. 31 The husband will be innocent of any wrongdoing, but the woman will bear the consequences of her sin.’”

All the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon during the festival in the month of Ethanim (the seventh month). St. John Chrysostom argued that Christmas did fall on the 25th of December, taking into account the birth of John the Baptist. Because Zachariah was the high priest and the day of atonement fell on September 24, John the Baptist was born on June 24 and Christ was born six months later, on December 25.

Taking into consideration that New hebrew year, as proclaimed by YH.. is on New Moon Aviv month or March in gregorian calendar:

The SHEPHERDS that saw the angels and heavenly hosts were the ones that were responsible for PROVIDING the PASSOVER LAMB.
The shepherds of BETHLEHEM were in charge of raising sheep for the TEMPLE SACRIFICES.
According to the LAWS of the time the sheep that were used for the OFFERINGS had to be a ONE-YEAR-OLD MALE sheep that had been OUTSIDE for 365 days (one - year). Since these sheep needed to remain outside the shepherds were also outside, not using the cave during the awful winter (rainy season). You can see this in Luke 2:8.
Once the sheep were of age the shepherds would bring them to the city of Jerusalem to be sacrificed for the Sabbath. It was important that the sheep that was to be sacrifice did not possess any blemishes (broken legs, injuries). Once the sheep's blood was completely spilled for all of the sins, the priest would return to the people and proclaim: "It is finished."
MIGDAL EDER, the TOWER OF THE FLOCK, was where the lambs set aside for temple sacrifices were raised. The flocks in the surrounding fields were vast, because there was an estimated population of around OVER TWO MILLION people in that area. During Passover, the annual celebration of the Hebrew nation's deliverance from captivity in Egypt, one lamb was needed for EVERY HOUSEHOLD. An estimated 250,000 sheep were needed every year to accomodate the Passover sacrifices and feast. The TOWER OF MIGDAL EDER provided the perfect vantage point from which the shepherds could, quiet literally, watch over their flocks from above.
Every firstborn male lamb was considered holy and was set aside for sacrifice in Jerusalem.
SHEEP HERDING was a hereditary occupation, and generations of shepherds were TRAINED to care for these SPECIAL lambs. The newborn lambs would be wrapped tightly... SWADDLED... in special designated TEMPLE CLOTHS, and they would be laid in a MANGER to keep them contained while they were being examined for blemishes. At the appointed time, the shepherds would separate the lambs, selecting ONLY the FIRSTBORN MALE that were without mark or blemish, and would lead them to Jerusalem, where they would be purchashed by people wanting to present a sacrifice before the Lord to atone for their sins.
When the angel appeared to the Shepherds in the fields, he told them they would find the newborn king wrapped in SWADDLING CLOTHES and laying in a manger. They knew exactly WHERE He would be found, because swaddling clothes were ONLY used in one particular location, and for one particular purpose....MIGDAL EDER, the place where sacrificial lambs were wrapped and examined for perfection before being set apart for the slaughter that would atone for sin and make peace with God.

Every Spring the Jews celebrated the Passover. Part of the celebration was the slaughter and consumption of Passover lamb. This Passover lamb was called "The Lamb of God."
Every December thousands of "Lambs of God" were born and set aside for Spring sacrifice.
These were very special lambs. They had to meet the strict legal-religious regulations of Jewish faith. The lambs had to be no more than one year old, male and without spot or blemish. Therefore they had to be bred and born in CONTROLLED conditions and inspected for birth defects before being raised in a specially protected environment.
The other interesting details is the Jewish regulations stipulated that any animal to be sacrificed at the Temple had to be born within five miles of Jerusalem. Bethlehem is just five miles from Jerusalem.
At the time of Jesus' birth, therefore, the hillsides around Bethlehem, were a first century lamb factory farm controlled by the Priestly livestock traders from the temple.
When the lambs were born the shepherds wrapped them in strips of cloth to protect them, and placed them in a stone feeding through in the birthing barn until the priest could come to inspect them.
By the way, some skeptics point out that the details don't match with Jesus being born in the winter because lambs are born in the spring. Lambs are born in Spring in Northern Europe. However, the BREED of sheep most common in the Middle East - the AWASSI - give birth in DECEMBER.
So there, on the hills surrounding Bethlehem was a large farming community dedicated to the specialized task of breeding the huge number of lambs for the Passover sacrifice. Each December thousands of "Lambs of God" were born and set aside for the Spring sacrifice.

@Macormic Benjamin Hi MB. It's hard for me to understand how there could have been 2 million people wanting lambs, because it seems (very) unlikely that there were 2 million people in that region of the world at that time. As I understand it, there is no archeological evidence for anything approaching a even 1 million people. A thousand years later, there still were not a million people there.

That being said, concerning the proper date. As Jews his family would have used a date on the Jewish calendar which does not synch up to the Christian calendar. The early Christians used the Julian calendar which has been replaced in the west with the Gregorian calendar. Even as a Jew it's meaningless pedantry to argue about which date is the 'right' birthdate rather than to pay attention to the religious significance of his birth.
So, to the Christians. Merry Christmas. May it be a blessing to you and may you be a blessing to the world.

When apostasy enter and influenced the true Christian congregation, they mixed their false doctrines with that of the Roman cults specially during the reign of Constantine. According to Will Durant, during that period Christians did not condemn apostasy, they accept it. We see the results until now unscriptural celebrations are deeply rooted everywhere. We must not dance with the music of this world if we want to have God's favor. We must be careful on what we celebrate and must study n research if they have pagan origins.

The best person to KNOW when is the Birthday of Jesus is His own mother, Mary.
Towards the end of his stories of Jesus' infancy. Luke describes Mary's remembrance of these events, "And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart (Luke 2:19)." From this indication, Luke thereby revealed Mary as his first eyewitness from the beginning. From her story to Luke, therefore we can derive when Jesus was born.
      Luke 1:5-9
      Luke 1:10-25
The incensing in the Temple indicated a specific feast was being celebrated, the Feast of Tabernacles or Dedication of the Temple. This feast originated from the first dedication of the Temple by King Solomon who timed the dedication with the feast of Booths (in Hebrew Succoth or Sukkot).
      1 Kings 8:1-2
All the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon during the festival in the month of Ethanim (the seventh month). In the original Roman calendar this would correspond to the month of September, so that if we calculate the time of the feast, it would have been around September 18-24. Then when Zechariah returned home and Elizabeth conceived, it would have been around September 25.
      Luke 1:26-38
The time in the story of the Annunciation to Mary and her subsequent conception of Jesus is mentioned twice: in v. 26 "In the sixth month," and in v. 36, "she whom people called barren is now in her sixth month."
To determine this date of Mary's conception of the Lord, we simply have to add 6 months to September 25, exactly the date celebrated by the church.
Ethanim, the name of the seventh month of the Canaanite calendar corresponding to the later Hebrew Tishri or to our September - October (1 Kings 8:2).
The Israelites, like the Orientals in general, followed the lunar month, beginning with the new moon. In Hebrew month is yerah, which means moon, and hodes, which means new moon. The months had alternatively 29 or 30 days. To distinguish the different months the Canaaneans names, which are related to the seasons of the year, were used.
In the Bible occur the months Abib, which means green ears of corn, and stood for March-April (Exodus 13:14; Deuteronomy 21:1); Ziv, meaning flower, equivalent of April-May (II Kings 6:1,37); ETHANIM, meaning constant waters, for September -October (1 Kings 8:2) and Bul, which means rain, for October-November (1 Kings 6:38). 😊😃😁

As Italian I'm very confused about some traditions used in the "germanic" world:
    1) Saint Nicolaus was born in Patara and lived in Myra in Turkey (Greek world that time). Now is a person from north pole (?) surrounded by ice and snow, elves and rendeers.
    2) Saint Lucia was born and raised in Syracuse, Sicily an island of southern Europe . Now in Sweden is seen as a Viking girl. 🙄
What's wrong in keeping the Mediterranean original root? What's wrong with the authentic tale?🙄🙄🙄
Some told me that the protestant world could not accept any tradition from Mediterranean world🙁🙁🙁 (romanism, papism were considered an evil thing), so they had to re-invent the whole stories.

Amen, I agree with you. I believe the secularisation of Christmas happened when we started impoirting northern European ideas into our customs having come from the same lands that rebelled first against the church. There has to be a connection between secular "santa claus" and anglo/germanic secularism.

It has nothing to do with being anti-Mediterranean. The thing is that Protestants didn't like the veneration of Saints and thus tried to secularize the feasts of Saints. Santa Claus is derived from the Catholic ‘Saint Nicholas’ but the Reformer Martin Luther did not want the gift-giving tradition to stop Irony aside, it appears fairly clear that Luther’s humanity, his desire not to deprive children of their gifts, has contributed to making Christmas the popular feast it now recognisably is.

I believe that's the reason why Romans created Saturnalia? There are also other cultures that invented celebrations around the Winter Solstice. Let us analyze and study History... Christ Jesus was born in Bethlehem between the 6th to 4th year BCE during the reign of King Herod under the Roman Emperor Augustus Caesar...
During that time the Ancient Roman Calender had only 10 months... The 1st month up to the 6th month was represented by the Roman gods and goddesses' Root Names while the 7th month came from the Roman Root word SEPTA, which became SEPTEMBER, then the 8th month came from the Roman Root word OCTO, which became OCTOBER, then the 9th month came from the Roman Root word NOVI, which became NOVEMBER and finally the 10th month came from the Roman Root word DECI, which became DECEMBER.
Historians believe that Christ Jesus was born during the "10th month" (Fall Season) which at that time was called in the Ancient Roman Calendar, DECEMBER... When the Roman Emperor Augustus Caesar died in the 14th year, 1st Cent. A.D. when Christ Jesus was in His Teenage years, Emperor Tiberius succeeded the throne and added 2 more months in recognition of Julius Caesar for the 7th month called JULY, and Augustus Caesar for the 8th month called AUGUST, thus, the month of September became the 9th, October became the10th, November became the 11th and December was no longer the original 10th month but became the 12th month in which there were already SNOW in Bethlehem (Winter Season)...
When Christ was born in Bethlehem, His registered BIRTH was the 10th month (December), which was the written Roman Census at that time for Blessed Mary and St. Joseph. When Emperor Tiberius reigned in the 14th year, 1st Cent. A.D., the Roman Calendar became 12 months adding the months of July and August, thus, all born on the 10th month including Christ Jesus became the 12th month (still called December) but in Winter Season in Israel...
The Exact Birth Day of Jesus on the "10th month" (December) was lost... the Pagan Roman Empire celebrated the SUN GOD FESTIVAL every the 25th day of December (10th Month), and Christ Jesus was also born on the 10th month in Bethlehem presently December today, and since the Pagan Roman Empire accepted the Faith of Christianity in 325 A.D.... the Roman Catholic Church replaced the Pagan SUN GOD FESTIVAL into the "Holy Mass (Celebration) of Christ Jesus" commonly called today CHRISTMAS... The First Christmas in the Christian Roman Empire (United East and West Roman Empire) was celebrated on December 25, 325 A.D....
What better way to STOP the Pagan Festival was to adopt the "Birth of Christ Jesus" on the 10th Month which was presently December (the 12th month)... Analogy, if a person cheated on you, what better way to replace that person is to find another better person than the previous one, and not to have a pet animal as a replacement... the same analogy.
Facts and Truth of the Matters, Historians, and Archeological Attested...

Verses 6 and 7 warn human magistrates that they must be judged too:“I said, `You are gods; you are all sons of the Most High.' But you will die like mere men; you will fall like every other ruler.” This passage is saying that God has appointed men to positions of authority in which they are considered as gods among the people. They are to remember that, even though they are representing God in this world, they are mortal and must eventually give an account to God for how they used that authority. Human beings are not “gods” or “little gods.” We are not God. God is God, and we who know Christ are His children.💯

So, all you are doing is comparing to the Romans, but they are the youngest culture of Pagans, not a fair comparison. Dionysus, the God of Wine, from Greek myth, was also worshipped as born on December 25th. Also, his followers drank wine as though it was his blood, which makes a lot of sense when it is THE GOD OF WINE. Moreover he was born twice. Once as a human and came back from his death to be born again as a God. Also there are several tales of pagan Gods born to virgin women. All thousands of years before Christianity. I am not disputing that Jesus existed, or his wisdom, just that comparing myths and trying to say who came first is a losing battle. Much of paganism was incorporated to gain followers. Christians aren’t the first to do that, many pagans did it also, Phoenicians, Sumerians, Mesopotamians, all borrowed from Egyptians, which was incorporated by Greeks, who then the Romans brought into their myth/history. These stories are metaphors for the divine, that should NEVER replace a one to one relationship.

This explosive revelation will not be accepted by many. People aren't hearing this, but pastors know: Christmas was adopted from pagans, and Yahusha was not born on December 25th. Yahuah is our Alahim, and He became flesh to reconcile us to Himself, shedding His own precious blood to redeem us completely (Acts 20:28). Those who have pledged themselves to Him in immersion do not continue to sin against Him, otherwise they will will receive the judgment we read about at Hebrews 10. The Galatians were turning back to their former patterns, living as pagans (birthday cakes & wishes to the queen of heaven, special days, and all their highly esteemed holidays). They were turning away from the Truth, and were backsliding into the weak and miserable principles their parents had taught them. Today's pastors, teachers, and parents have all embraced these things, and train children to do the same. Who can stand before Yahusha when He comes to end all the idolatry we inherited from our fathers? Only His pure bride will be safely protected from the reapers as they burn the weeds first, then gather the wheat. Psalm 91 tells us we will see fiery wrath poured out on 10,000 at our right hand, but it will not come near our tent. The plagues are here, and the fire comes next. We're not getting this warning from the majority of teachers; just more egg trees.

Honestly, I never bought into the notion that Christmas was set on December 25 in order to co-opt Saturnalia or any other pagan holiday - and for that matter, the notion that Christmas is "supposed to" be in the spring also never made sense to me. I always thought that the math works out.
Gabriel appears to Zacchariah during Yom Kippur when he enters the holiest part of the temple. Yom Kippur is typically around the end of September (I don't know much about the Hebrew calendar, but I assume it's not super different from the Gregorian calendar). After Gabriel appeared to Mary, she went and stayed with Zacchariah and Elizabeth for three months; Elizabeth would have most needed Mary's help in her third trimester and around the time of John's birth (the end of June), which would have put Jesus' conception at the end of March. December is nine months after March.

The date we celebrate our King's birth is arbitrary and doesn't have to be based on fact, in the same way that most monarchs have official birthdays which are separate from their biological birthdays. The important thing is that we celebrate the feast. There is biblical evidence that Jesus was actually born in the summer. The shepherds were watching their flocks by night, which suggests it was a warm night. Even Israel had cold winters so it's unlikely that Jesus was born in the winter. It's all in the Bible, brothers and sisters. In the first chapter of the Gospel of Luke alone, the time of the birth of Jesus can be known.
I'll try to make this quick.... The Bible tells us that Zacharias Was chosen high priest by lot to enter the holy of holies on the day of atonement to burn incense and offer sacrifice. That means he was in the temple on the 10th day of the Jewish month of tishri, now known as Yom Kippur. 10th of Tishri translated to the Gregorian calendar, falls always sometime between September 14th and October 9th.
continue reading Luke's gospel... While Zacharias was in the temple the angel came to him and announced that his wife Elizabeth would bear a son Who was John the Baptist. that gospel also tells us that immediately When Zacharias Priestly course was over, Elizabeth conceived that son. And so John the Baptist would have been conceived sometime between September 20th and October 9th.
6 months later when Elizabeth was 6 months pregnant, Mary conceived Jesus. This means Jesus was conceived sometime between March 20th and April 9th.
that puts his birth sometime between December 20th and January 9th.
you can read it all in Luke 1:5-45.

Yet we still have people adamantly declaring that Christ couldn't have been born in December because "sheep wouldn't be kept out in the cold in winter." Well, Palestine and Israel are on the Mediterranean in a very temperate climate during winter. In December, the average low temperature there today is about 47 degrees, it likely wasn't much different 2000 years ago. That's not cold at all, especially for animals covered in insulating wool like sheep. They're actually designed by God for even harsher climates. Absolute Christmas is a pagan holiday. The pagan roots of the winter Holiday. The true meaning of Christmas Paganism, Sun worship and commercialism. Christmas customs are ,in fact based on old pagan festivals the Roman Saturnalia and the Scandinavian and Teutonic Yule. Christians adopted these during the earliest period of Church history. Look at what the Bible says in Luke 2:8-9- "Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an Angels of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the LORD shone around them , and they were greatly afraid." Remember the shepherds were still tending their flocks in the fields around Bethlehem it can be concluded that the Angels announced the news of Jesus' birth no later than October. Approximate the month of Jesus' birth to be around the time of Tishri (mid to late SEPTEMBER). And why should we celebrate Dec 25 as Christmas birthday of Jesus Christ even not correct or not exact birthday of Christ. Another thing about when Jesus was born. We can estimate when Jesus was born by counting backward from his death on Passover, Nisan 14 in the spring of the year 33C.E. (John 19:14-16) Jesus was about 30yrs old when he began his three and-a half year ministry,.so he was born in the early fall of 2B.C.E. -Luke 3:23'.," And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God-1Corinthians 15:58." The best person to KNOW when is the Birthday of Jesus is His own mother, Mary.

Good questions. You're getting on the correct path too. The mass is pagan in origin and heathen in observance. The perverted catholic entity instructed so-called Protestants to follow them on the road to hell with spiritual idolatry. It's heathen in observance also. See Joshua 10 for a perfect description of the heathen tree. Nowhere in the Bible does it ever tell anyone to observe Yahusha's birthday and they didn't even observe each other's day of birth. Easter is just as perverted. Egg laying rabbits? Really? Satan's holidays of men are simply the counterfeit to Yahuwah's Holy days which are still relevant. He always has a counterfeit to everything of God's purpose. Where to you think the word Protest-ant got it's name? We as protestants are supposed to be "protesting" the things of the sick and perverted catholic faith. Now that is the truth.

Saint Boniface is the origin of the tree, it's not pagan. The tree represents the literal and physical death of Paganism, and plus no Catholic worships a tree that's stupid. Another explanation could be that it represents the Tree of Life, a contrast to the Tree of Knowledge . Also ornaments look nice and developed around medival times, long after the death of all pagan customs in Europe.

I have a question. I am not Christian, but I’d love your opinions. If Christmas was indeed based off a pagan holiday, why is that so wrong? Cultures share celebratory behaviors all the time. Those who just converted to Christianity likely grew up with these types of behaviours to celebrate life. Why not use some of those to also celebrate new life, AKA Jesus’ birthday? I realize the Bible says not to celebrate pagan traditions. But if certain traditions were utilized in a Christian way, isn’t that the difference? Pagans celebrated their own gods/goddesses. As long as Christians weren’t celebrating anybody but God, wouldn’t decorating a “pagan” Christmas tree be alright?
There are genuine questions. I grew up with a Christian family, but I’m not sure if they’d be willing to talk about it with me. I’d love to hear some honest opinions, because I don’t truly understand some of the rules outlined in the Bible. I’m just curious.

One possibility is that the vision of St Gabriel to Zechariah took place at around Yom Kippur [the time he would have burned incense]. This was observed around the autumnal equinox [Sept 22 or thereabouts]. The Annunciation to Our Lady is recorded by Luke as being six months later, that is at the vernal equinox in March, and nine months on from March is December.

Well when a Christian people converts pagans, the pagans usually don't destroy everything they have, they re appropriate what they have as a Christian tool for worship. For example a temple that was used for worship to a pagan god, and then converted to Christianity, was converted into a church. Father says that in the video "Christians 'christianize' various pagan things"
This doesn't mean that there is a pagan worship, but that the use of material and space pagans had before they converted was used to worship the true God after their conversion. Like if a pagan guy made well-made pagan statues, then converted to Christianity, and now he makes Christian statues of saints, etc.

I am a Bible believing Christian not a catholic. My studies of the origins of Christmas has shown me that it is a Catholic practice. It was developed to mix the pagan traditions of the peoples of the lands that were "converted" from pagan to catholic. This would make the pagans content because they could still do their pagan traditions but change them slightly. this way the catholic church was also satisfied. It explains why the "christmas" traditions are differant in other countries . It also explains why Winter Soltice is also celebrated at the same time by pagans. Bible believing Christians didn't celebrate Christmas in early America because it was a Catholic holiday. They belived it wasn"t a Holiday in the Holy Scriptures. Even today most Christians don't celebrate Christmas the way catholics do, if they celebrate it at all. To a christian we believe we are to celebrate our Saviors birth every day!

I think that the two camps decided on December 25th independently, but the choice to emphasize Christmas as an important holiday rests in this coincidence.
Easter seems like the more important date theologically, and yet Christmas gets much more emphasis.

Incorrect. This is not even in the Bible. This is a heathen holiday. A tradition straight from Satan, who counterfeits everything of the things of God. The Holy days are still relevant. Observe them? Easter is even more perverted and pagan. 3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? Matthew 15:3 KJV.

  • @wiseowl282

In the third century Church was still deciding whether Jesus was the Son of God. Christmas wasn't even on the table.
There is only one God, so how can Jesus be God's Son?
Why not his Only Begotten Son?
Read up on the Council of Nicea.
Centuries ago the Catholic Church began converting Pagans to the church.
This is how Catholicism and Paganism started mixing. Thus, in time, Christmas came to be.
However, Christmas of today was not the same as Christmas centuries ago.
The middle class and the rich that came to settle in the early American colonies brought the more expensive elaborate Christmas we celebrate today.
The poor didn't celebrate Christmas that way. They were too poor.
However, most people celebrated Christmas the old way, getting drunk, seeking pleasure, partying and making noise.
In time, the Catholic Church outlaw Christmas celebrations because it led to over -indulgence.
It is written in history if you check it out.
Today, as centuries earlier, people are mixing Catholicism with paganism.
Witchcraft is being mixed with Catholic belief more and more today.
Yes, in Mexico and Haiti, and do on.
    Christmas was never pure Catholic.
If you keep studying Church history you will come upon this information.

I read somewhere that the December 25th date was based on the dates of priestly rotations in the Temple. Basically, Zechariah would have been in the temple during the weeks assigned to the descendants of Abijah-sometime in Aug/September. From this, the Annunciation falls about six months later in March, and Christ’s birth would be in December. I’d love to find a source for this theory, which makes sense to me.

Except the inscription by Emperor Aurelian makes no mention of December 25th or a feast. So arguably, the first record of any worship of Sol Invictus on December 25th is in 354 in the Filocalian Calendar.

@1000 Lire **No Muslim ever worship Kabba, It is just Qibla - A Direction only**
*We Muslims believe in unity suppose if we want to pray someone will say let us face North, some will say South others will say let"s face East so, for unity, Allah says in Quran to face towards the Kaaba. So Kaaba is a Direction only
*Regarding the kissing of Black stone, it is given in Sahih Bukhari vol 2 Book of Hajj chapter 56 Hadith No 675 In which Omar (Peace be upon him) who was the 2nd Caliph of Islam Pointing to Black stone after kissing it and said that "I KNOW YOU ARE A STONE, YOU DO NOT CAUSE BENEFIT OR HARM" I just saw Muhammed (Peace be upon him) kissed it that's why I kissed it too, Therefore, neither Hadith nor Quran has any verse supporting Muslims worshiping the stone or Kaaba
*Furthermore, Before installing loudspeakers for thousands of years. Before prayer, A person used to stand on the terrace of Kaaba and use to give Adhaan (Call to prayer) Imagine an Idol worshipper doing the same thing by standing on the Temple!
The above three Reasons are well sufficient for any Rational person to prove there is no pagan ritual related to Kaaba.
In Islam, we consider Muhammed (Peace be upon him) as a prophet and just a messenger of God similar to Jesus, Adam, Abraham, Noah, Jacob, etc (peace be upon them all) But, unfortunately Paul Christianity has elevated Jesus(Peace be upon him) equal to God and start worshipping him as God. There are many verses where Jesus (Peace be upon him) himself said in the Bible to worship his Father alone
In Matthew 4:10 “Thou shalt worship the Lord, thy God; And Him only shalt thou serve" In Matthew 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even your Father which is in heaven is perfect" In
Matthew 6:1 "...otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven"

But, unfortunately When Muslims Quote the Words of Jesus (Peace be upon him) Paul Christians like yourself quote the words of Paul Which clearly shows who is following the teaching of Jesus (peace be upon him)

To me it doesn't really matter when Jesus was born and I don't waste much time thinking about it. We do know that many cultures celebrated summer and winter solstices before Christianity and it is likely that at least some of the early Christians knew this as well so I don't think that we can discount the theory of inspirations from others since it could be inspiration from somewhere other than the Romans. As far as know, one objection to the December date is that this was not a time when many shepherds would have been out with their animals the way it was described. I don't know that much about shepherding so I don't know if this is true but it is one thing I often see mentioned by those who are critical of this date.
