During my last interview I was asked to convince the personnel to start looking my special African dish which he has no preference for. +Create Supply and Demand: Create a demand in the buyer, for example tell him that if you don't buy this thing, you will face this problems in the future, and this is cheap so he will buy it.
+ Solve his problems or goals.
+Upsell more than cross-sell.
+Involve the buyer emotionally, talk more about the solution, and then about how your products can solve.
+Give more than what you get, soon you'll get more than what you gave.

or you could simply say that you wouldn't wanna take the expensive pen everywhere in case of loss or damage so buying the cheaper pen would be a good choice because you can take it anywhere and if it gets lost no big deal. also buying cheaper pens equals more pens and you could have a pen in your house, car, boat, work everywhere a pen! Better deal
