I believe you said you were 16 or 17. Aside from your issues with this horrible condition You are really intelligent for your age.

Schizophrenia is, in fact genetic. You are correct about that. Some people may have it and it never 'presents'; It just lays dormant. Others may have it lying dormant and for some reason, it is 'triggered'. Trauma may, in fact, be a catalyst to trigger it, but it does not cause it directly. You must have it 'lying dormant' first. You are very knowledgable and it is clear that you are educating yourself about it as you go. Well done.

I know this is an old video but I wanted to let you know my Brother was diagnosed with Paranoid schizophrenia at 16 I was 13 , I am 38 now he passed bc of the opiate epidemic in 2018. I want you to know I think you are soo strong, I want you to know when the light isn't shinning that one particular extremely hard day soo many people love you and how important you are to the people around you. No matter how hard it can get keep on your meds, hospitalization is not failure, meds work at different times in life differently. I am guessing your around 20 now so just remember your brain is still developing until 25 so there maybe increases or changes and can feel hopeless it's not though. I guess I am telling you this bc this was something I wish my Brother got to hear. I don't think this diagnosis is truly understood by the public so you don't get enough credit where credit is due. Your a warrior, keep fighting this disease bc you're loved there is LITERALLY 92,000 plus people who either love or care about your well being and that's amazing. Your courage to open yourself up to the world in spite of paranoid delusions is inspirational please keep vlogging. Editing isnt as important as you think. Not enough people understand what people who have Paranoid schizophrenia deal with or how traumatic it can be for the Family and friends who love them. Keep posting I Love That Your Breaking The Silence! Keep it up. I love you hun keep on keeping on!

"Because kids are brats." Bwahahaha! So true! You may change your mind on that one day. Or not. Either way is quite okay.

Hey man! Thanks for these videos. I personally struggle with psychiatric illness but not schizophrenia and I just gotta commend you on your bravery and your informative personality. I am looking to go into psychiatry (or music) to change mental health care and one of the things I have picked up about schizophrenia is that it means split nerve not split mind. Other than that, awesome knowledge!

I would like to hear about how reading the comments on your videos affects you. Does it affect your delusions at all? Does it help knowing there are people who support you? Thank you for sharing and clearing up some misconceptions and myths.

My mom's aunt had Schizophrenia. Mom said she got it from trauma from childhood. I would be interested in knowing what they prescribed you in this. Thanks for your videos.

My dad would think the government was going to come get him for yearssssss and he finally gave up I guess because he took the bed frame things that he kept against the doors down lmao. I had a weird childhood.... he didn’t show emotions as a kid either.

I have read that some people who have schizophrenia believe that the TV is talking to them or something they read in a book is directed towards them. Have you ever encountered this?

As a schizophrenic drummer while unmedicated i fully believed john bonham was watching over me and guiding me on the path of music. So its very possible that they could have those delusions but noone experiences the same thing.

My grandmother used to hear voices through the tv so she would cover it up with a sheet.

Yup portlandia felt like it was made for me, that the director was speaking to me directly

My friend has schizophrenia and has believed that the TV spoke to him directly on a few occasions. Once he was at my place watching a movie and in the middle of it he just stood up and left in a rush. Later when I asked him why he did that, he said the actor (I don't remember who) told him to leave.
On another occasion, though I was not present, he believed the people on TV were telling him to kill himself otherwise his nephew would die. That was more serious and scary. He was off medication.

I don’t think schizophrenia is dangerous, but my brother has had times where he thought i was trying to kill somebody and he jumped on me and punched me nonstop. I think it depends on your delusions?
