As for repetitious prayers:

And when asked how we should pray Christ gave us a prayer presumably to repeat, not instructions to keep it fresh.

It is a prayer in the form of request and talking to god.... you just repeat hail mary repeat like robots even though it doesnt pertain to you, its just a convo between angel and mary...between jesus and god, so prayer shud be between you and god, not repeat other's prayers...smh

The Ark of the Covenant held God within it and was venerated in the Old Testament, so why then should the woman who carried the living incarnation of God any different? Mary is the first person to dedicate their life to Christ, that’s an honor we cannot forget. She was holy.

I recently got into a spat from an Andersonite who was rejoicing over a sinner being sent to hell (Jeffrey Epstein). I stated that we should all know that we are sinners ourselves and should not rejoice in someone dying ones sins, afterall, its only by Gods Grace that we have salvation. I was promptly called a pedophile defender and homosexual by the man. All I could think was "wow, the love of Christ is strong in this one". On a real note, thank you for addressing this. I was raised fundamental independent baptist (Not Andersons stuff, there is a difference as his stuff is hate filled and loveless) but as I grew and studied theology and history, I finally told my parents that I identify more with Orthodox theology, and am hoping to join the Church in baptism. Thank you for these videos btw, and I pray God blesses you as you continue in Him. God bless!

He claims we're all part of some ancient mystery religion based on Babylonian, Egyptian, and Greco-Roman paganism that managed to make the entire Christian world apostasize around 313 AD.

@CT 75-67 He is right regarding a number of things, but even if he held all the knowledge he still lacks love and charity, and thus he is nothing according to St Paul (1 Cor 13). American evangelicals have an obsession with Israel and Jews for some reason and Andersson is right in saying that they should not say "Israel our glory" but "Christ our glory", but then he goes on and says that they say this because they were never saved to begin with, which is Calvinist whether he wants to admit it or not.

When you read patristics like St Athanasius, St Basil the Great, St Gregory the Theologian, St Cyril of Alexandria you see that in Christology nature means hypostasis and not essence. When Nestorius taught two natures in Christ he taught Christ is two hypostases, each doing its own thing. St Cyril opposed this and defined the natural hypostatic Union which is that the nature (hypostasis) of God the Word united to the nature (body and rational soul =hypostasis) from St Mary, and became one undivided hypostasis/nature of the God-man Jesus Christ, the incarnate Word of God. This happened without the natures mixing together, and they became inseparabe with the natures becoming one nature (Mia physis) but the particularitites still distinct so that the person of Jesus Christ is both fully man, consubstantial with us, and fully God, consubstantial with the Father. To all these patristics the definition of "one hypostasis *in* two natures" was foreign, because a hypostatic union implies a union of hypostases and not natures. Leo of Rome also copied Nestorius in saying that each nature does what befits it with one action proper to each, which is heresy according to St Cyril. We proclaim no separatation of the natures after the union, one Jesus Christ *from* two natures but not *in* two natures.
Of course, the Chalcedonians define physis/nature as essence, while we define it as hypostasis. With this in mind our beliefs are identical. We agree that the essences remained separate but united in the person of Christ.

Western Orthodox like my congregation are the most experienced in opposing this nonsense, my Archpriest, Father Bundy, was born out of this culture, and I’ve been around them my whole former life as a Roman. They see no difference between “papists” and us, what could be called “patriarchists”.

One my life goals is to hear the liturgy in as many languages as I can (I’m to 6). Also growing up loved and still saying part time vegan without saying why at times. Prayer and fasting should never be forced but done out of love.

Always baffled me. Why settle for a translation? Learn Greek and Hebrew!
I don't think you could say it was poorly translated, as a translation it's actually relatively good, especially given the limitations the scholars were working under. We have better sources and better scholarship today so if you're not proficient in Greek and Hebrew then there are better translations available. As a Catholic I encounter people who say the Douay Rheims bible is the best translation when it's a 17th century translation of the Latin Vulgate so it's an old translation of a translation but of course it must be better because it's *Tradition* and anything new or influenced by Protestants is automatically terrible.

I mean, Paul said that Christians preach Christ crucified. You may argue that the Catholics/Orthodox took that verse too literally but it's a bit hard to follow that with an empty cross, which is supposed to represent the resurrection.
On the "call no man father" bit, I read an autobiography last year by a Russian Orthodox hieromonk in the new seminary in Paris. Anyway, he writes that it's wrong that priests are called father but as he is Russian Orthodox he accepts it, or something like that. I have to admit it was a bit confusing to me.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video, Bojan. I don't know if people like Anderson exist in Serbia but they abound over here where the anarchistic nature of Protestant (Baptist in particular) ecclesial polity predominates. He is basically the king of his own castle and he also exercises indirect authority over the churches in his network whose pastors he trains. I make this point because I assume that within the Orthodox church, the strict hierarchy of bishops provides the necessary oversight and accountability that rein in hotheads like him fairly quickly. Of course, I could be mistaken so please correct me if I'm wrong, but my guess is that within Orthodoxy cooler heads tend to prevail.
To those in this comment thread who think he's an idiot because of his lack of formal higher education: be careful to not underestimate him. He is by no means stupid. He is sublimely clever, knows how to manipulate vulnerable people using every psychological trick in the book and he has absolute control over those who have fallen under his spell.
Man, your post concerned greatly. He should be put in his place and exposed for his lack of basic biblical knowledge.
@@BibleIllustrated I think it's best to keep in mind the ancient wisdom found in Proverbs 26:4-5 when dealing with people like Anderson: by all means, answer this fool according to his folly lest he be wise in his own conceit. Don't let him deceive people into thinking he's made any sound argument with his used car salesman rhetoric. However, neither let him draw you in to a long, drawn-out confrontation that will prove psychologically taxing. Say what you have to say and be done with it, even if he gloats over having the last word. Answer not a fool according to his own folly, lest thou be like unto him.

As an evangelical, Anderson is an embarrassment. If only he would make a sober, intelligent video on the differences in beliefs and practices (and people have done this) it would produce more fruit. People need to critically examine their beliefs and practuces but in a humble way. The correct attitude is: Who knows I MAY be wrong? May the Lord teach me correctly and may I be willing to change

Bojan I need help how can I convince a Protestant. That statues, images, and icons are not idols, and also how can I convince them we're not worshipping Theotokos.
I like to mention that idolatry doesn't come only from the icons since you can turn anything into an idol (nature, wife, money...) so prohibiting idols won't stop idolatry. Furthermore, you can play a little game with them: ask them to find the church commandment that says that the saints and the Theotokos must be treated exactly like God, then proceed to explain the differences between the cults (many prots actually have no idea that these differences exist)

The problem is they don't even listen they just blindly look at their Bible and use it against us even though the Church was the one that compiled the Bible. It's very funny if you rhink about it. Try this bomb on them: ask them if they pray to Jesus, and if they say they do, ask them where's that in the Bible (there are only two very short prayers to Jesus in the New Testament :D ).

You could point out the Ark of the Covenant had two cherubs on the lid. And it was kept in the Holy of Holies. Did the ancient Israelites worship that?
Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant. Luke 1, in the story of the Visitation, uses a lot of imagery from 1 Samuel regarding the ark. And immediately before Revelation 12 opens with a description of the woman clothed with the sun, chapter 11 ends with a vision of the ark. (Chapter and verse divisions were a medieval development.)
So many Protestants forget who agreed on the canon. It’s very annoying and I’m Protestant.
