In this video we teach you how to install the Ring Video Doorbell 4. Which is a New Ring Doorbell 4 launched in May of 2021. The new Ring Doorbell features better resolution and faster response times than previous generations of the Ring Doorbell like the Ring 2 or Ring 3. The Ring 4 Doorbell allows the option to either hard wire the doorbell or use it wirelessly with the provided rechargeable battery pack. This means even if you don't have an existing doorbell or any existing doorbell wiring you can use the Ring Doorbell 4 as a smart wifi video doorbell.
Another advantage of the Ring Doorbell 4 is that it can work with your existing hardwired doorbell chime or can connect via wifi network to the Remote Ring Doorbell Chimes: amzn.to/3baK6hE which can be placed at any outlet in your home.
How To Install The New Ring Doorbell 4:
1. Turn off the power to your existing doorbell at the circuit breaker. Remove the cover plate on the bottom of the Ring Doorbell 4 and remove the battery to charge it up while completing other parts of Ring Doorbell 4 install.
2. Confirm the power is off.
3. Remove the existing doorbell and wiring.
4. Decide if you will install the Ring Doorbell with the tilt wedge or if you will install it flat.
5. Secure the wires to the Ring Video Doorbell 4 terminals on the back of the device.
6. Secure the Ring Doorbell 4 with the provided screws to the door frame.
7. Insert the rechargeable battery into the device.
8. Turn the power back on at the circuit breaker for your Ring Doorbell 4.
9. Open the Ring App and create a username and password if you have not done so already and login to the Ring App.
10. Once logged in click "add a device" in the menu and follow the Ring Doorbell 4 setup instructions. Scan the QR code on the side of the Ring Video Doorbell 4 to start the set up.
11. Follow the instructions and when the setup is complete you can then reinstall the cover plate for the Ring Doorbell. Secure the cover plate with the proper short screw as shown in the instructions.
12. Congratulations your Ring Video Doorbell 4 Installation is complete.

Just to let you know the transformers in the older homes do not actually put out enough voltage to support this. You'd think they would, bc they are called 10v, but it actually takes at least 6v to run the transformer. You need 16v or greater in order to use the ring for anything more than a regular doorbell. Found this out the hard way. Had to get this version (4) bc the original version I ordered was just a wired model. Spent 30 minutes on the phone with ring support before diagnosing this issue.
Without putting a meter on the existing wiring, how can one tell if the doorbell is running on battery or electricity once it is installed?

I second David. The transformer hooked up to your chime box is limiting your voltage. Swapping it out is a relatively simple process.
Ohhhhhh I wonder if that’s why my current doorbell I have won’t work. It got installed. Worked perfectly fine. But then stopped shortly after and while the chime works the camera doesn’t. It’s from my home security company. I think you may have figured it out for me.

I just bought the Ring Doorbell 4. And I wish I had seen this before. It would have helped me with the purchase. I feel comfortable that I bought this item. Your video was very helpful to me. It seems very easy to install myself. However, I went ahead and got the Loews installer to come and do the installation.

Thanks for the vid. By the way, I think you went a bit overboard with all the power safety stuff. No reason to be afraid of touching 12v low voltage. Like at all. It's not even necessary to turn off your breaker for this install.

Your door frame is exactly like mine where you have only about 1.5” of flat surface. You mentioned only putting in 2 screws on 1 side - would that be sturdy enough to permanently hold it? Also, can you mute the indoor chime and only have it ring on your phone? - great video - thanks
My door bell is not on the frame part, but is on the siding of the house, is that ok? Also I notice I still have space between the siding and the ring, while mounting it. Is that ok and safe considering itll get wet from the rain?
Hi, great video... I think you missed one thing ! Before connecting the wired Ring 4, maybe put on the circuitbreaker again and check if not accidentily some idiot breaked the 220/110V circuit with the old pushbutton and use the Multimeter if there isn't accidentely a higher Voltage, It will ruin your Ring4 :-)
@yasslina9892…the door bell camera cannot be operated without the battery being inserted (the camera operates on DC power). The purpose of the electrical wiring is to provide a constant unfiltered trickle charge to the battery to prevent it from running out of power. At some point however, you will have to replace the battery as they will eventually reach the end of their life cycle.

What would I use if my doorbell is mounted on brick? Also, if I want to install the motion sensor camera in my garage area and maybe get the spotlight as well is the installed the same? I wish you had a video with the latest Ring products that are out now, short unboxing, clean install, quick rundown of app and Alexa setup and features because that's what I'm looking to do right now in my newly built home and it would help me out a lot, lol.

I am at a loss about what screw goes where. I am using the wireless Ring 4 and I'm not putting it over my doorbell. I've read from the Amazon people that you use the F+ST3*25TP1. But that is meaningless to me. I'm thinking I need to use the long screws in Packet C because I'm going through solid oak. And I THINK the screw that secures the bottom are the 2 screws in Packet B, but I'm not sure. How hard could it have been to add a few words to the front each packet???!!!!

Do you need an existing doorbell to install the ring 4? Can it be done without wires
Ring doorbell has its own chime that comes from its speakers. You can mute this if you decide to get a Ring Chime. You can install without wiring it, but you will have to recharge it every 1-2 months.

Went to the circuit breaker and flipped it off, didn't work,I had to actually switch the breaker to the off position. Lesson learned. 🤣

I bought mine through ring site, however I did see them at best buy just not version 4. And yes version 4 that he used does connect with your existing door chime. Just keep in mind if you have a concrete/brick wall you're going to need a hammer drill and screw with the right drill bits.

Question, why does the Ring needs to be wired if it allready has its own rechargable battery?
On battery alone, the batteries only last about two months max, before needing recharging (ring saying ten to twelve months is rubbish), so if you hard wire it also, the mains feed trickle charges the battery, so very unlikely the battery will very rarely have to be charged.

@@angelo6627 my pleasure, my neighbour has the doorbell 4 and after just five days the battery went flat from full charge, so she has set up motion detection zones now to help, but all users have said they are lucky if they get 6 to 8 weeks of battery life, nowhere near the 10-12 MTHS ring state, so looks like my neighbour will be getting the power supply fitted to keep the battery trickle charged, so hopefully will eliminate the need to remove and charge the battery.

honestly ring doorbells are like iphones. kinda look the same generation after generation and with incremental upgrade. i still have the gen 2 and that is sufficient for me. the 4 is just isn't enough of a change for me to get it.

Just FYI, there’s literally no voltage in those doorbell wires. More voltage in static electricity 😂
And there’s NO breaker ever designated just for a doorbell, that breaker you turned off turned a power source off in a section of your home.

Well for people who've never done this type of work around their home probably don't know that and aren't gonna take a chance of getting zapped. The instructions even say to cut the power
@@Nhaman you can't get zapped by such low voltage. You can literally touch both connectors and feel nothing. The voltage and amperage is far too low. If you cross the wires by mistake, the doorbell might just ring on the mechanical bells.

Difficult to install. You give it your information and ring tells you its inaccurate. With that being step 1, there is no step 2. No help available.
The instruction is simply too long. Cut the duration of the clip by a third by not repeating the same thing 3 times and it will be much better.

The constant shaking of the product in his hand in front of the camera makes a person motion sick. Also, I watched this specifically to see how to install on a frame that is too narrow. He ignores that part by saying he is just installing 2 screws. None of my questions answered.
Ring is garbage it don't work with chime it's sucks
