  • Hey everyone, it's David Esau here. I'm sharing something deeply personal today for Suicide Awareness Month because it's a cause that hits close to home. I lost my dad to suicide, and I want to take a moment to talk about it.
If you're ever at a point where you're feeling overwhelmed and contemplating something like this, please, please reconsider. Reach out to someone you trust, be it a friend or family member, or call a suicide hotline. Your life is valuable, and there are people who care about you.
For those of us who have lost someone, it's a pain that never truly goes away. It leaves a void that can't be filled. That's why it's so important to be there for one another.
If you notice someone reaching out, don't hesitate to answer. Sometimes, just a simple conversation can make all the difference. Many people don't call as often as they used to, so if someone is reaching out, it might be for a critical reason.
I'll share something I haven't talked about much before. I missed a call from my dad on that fateful morning, and it's a regret I carry with me every day. Even if I can't be sure it would have changed the outcome, I know that missing that call will always haunt me because I was busy with something else.
So, please, answer the call, be there for each other, and if you're struggling with thoughts of suicide, reach out. You are not alone, and there is help available. Your life matters, and there is hope.
Let's spread awareness and support one another during Suicide Awareness Month and beyond. 💚 #suicideawarenessmonth #youarenotalone #suicidesurvivor
