I have seen many a video on the Taco. I clicked because of the title. You sure delivered with that shut up and drive. Great video for a truck post launch.
This is going to be the year of the midsize trucks. For those of us who don't want or need a large huge vehicle this size truck fills the bill. Happy to see you driving it like most of us would.
Thank you Howard. From 1 Ontarian to another, the Shut up and drive should be a series like another subscriber said and you had fun and did an epic job at the same time. So you killed 2 birds with 1 stone in a sence. Lol Keep bringing us these informative vids.
Now This was a great review!!!!! Very simple not a lot talking you just showcased the capabilities of the truck and folks are not happy with the 4 cylinder engine I’m thinking Toyota was founded on the durability of there compact engines like the legendary 22RE and the 2.4 liters they are the most bulletproof engines made these Tacomas will prove as reliable as the last gen I’ll bet on it
Thank you Howard. Didn't buy my trucks for the specs, technology, or popular features. Can they work as hard as I do? Thats it. Thanks again, from a 70 year old with holes in his coveralls, gloves, with boots following the pattern.
I liked seeing the capability of this updated truck out on trails and mud since that's mainly where I'd be using my new truck off road. This really looks capable, durable and may I say rugged.
Yes!! Loved this just Drive segment! Not a big fan of the new Tacoma (don’t believe it’ll have the longevity of the 3rd gen & the pricing is outrageous) but it’s good to see it can run through some puddles like it’s predecessor. Do more of these!!
Thanks for the refreshing video. It seems the Bilstein shocks with reservoirs got a great workout without having any problems and I’ll bet the ride quality was much better with the body on boxed frame and rear coil springs vs. the leaf springs.
I don’t like that the small screen still sits inside such a large molded piece of dashboard. With the 14” screen it can make sense with the multi terrain view being great to look at least.
Well it certainly didn’t break and did well in mud. The “shut up” format is good but maybe one screen next time showing trim level (I couldn’t read that) and tires would be useful.
@@melissasmess2773 Sarcasm is lame. Today a V8 is sadly an impossibilty but the 2nd gen Tacoma could have had one! The Dodge Dakota had a V8 and Toyota could've put their 2UZ-FE 4.7L V8 in the Tacoma so it would finally have decent power. The 3rd gen should have never gotten the 3.5L, the 4.0L from the 4Runner was the appropriate engine for it. As for the towinh capacity, your comparison is ridiculous. A V8 in a mid-size today is almost a fever dream, but 7700 lbs is the cold hard reality of things. Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon have a 7700 lbs towing capacity, Ford Ranger 7500 lbs and the Nissan Frontier 6640 lbs. The 2024 Tacoma has a towing capacity of 6500 lbs, the worst in its class! A towing capacity of over 7000 lbs is something you should expect of a brand new mid-size truck. Heck, the 2008 Dodge Dakota had a 7050 lbs towing capacity! Imagine you need to rent a full-size truck because your mid-size can't tow 7500 lbs 🤣. I thought you bought a truck so you can do truck stuff with your do-it-all vehicle. The hybrid certainly has excellent power, best in class actually, and I trust it a lot more than the GM 2.7L grenade of a 4-cylinder. Honestly the choice between the regular 2.4 turbo and the hybrid would be tricky for me as I really like the simplicity of the traditional powertrain, but the power of the hybrid is so nice. If I would buy the hybrid I'd have to remove the exterior and interior hybrid noises though. I absolutely hate those. I would also change the ECU programming so that the engine would always be running. Pressing the start button and the engine not starting feels so wrong. I don't want an EV! Frankly a V8 today is still something that can be done. It's just that nobody wants to. Toyota should have made these engines: 2.0L inline-4 2.5L inline-5 3.0L V6 4.0L V8 and made turbo and hybrid variants of all them, offering multiple engines per vehicle for maximum flexibilty and customer choice.
while watching this video, i found myself thinking about the nissan frontier video you did last week, how the shock absorber broke before you guys got two yards into the ditch. i`m going to guess that truck was used by someone already and thats how the shock was busted, and not by steve driving it for 30 seconds. not making excuses for the nismo shock, but i find it very hard to believe that anything but plastic would break within 30 seconds and only two yards and only going as fast as a turtle in the mud. maybe ask nissan if the truck was loaned out or taken off road before it was delivered to you?
We had a mic taped in the bed of the truck to capture some extra audio in this video. Chatter is quieter inside the cab, check our other recent Tacoma videos if you want to hear the difference. - Liam (Videographer)
We are in the northern part of Kawartha Lakes - we are blessed with many unmaintained county roads. These are all public - you just need to know where they are.
I really like the “shut up and drive” format. It should be a series.
I agree. Just a showcase of the vehicle doing its thing.
Pops hammering on the Taco. Drive it like you stole it.
Dad needs to start a SHUT UP AND DRIVE series.
we need more of this
It was nice to have cool music and running footage 👏👏
"So we kept the yapping to a minimum" 7:41 😉
All of the analysis and journalism can’t beat well made shots of trucks going through the mud/dirt and over rocks. Love to see these more.
Steve may have not been there, but you obviously had someone behind the camera. Whoever it was did a pretty good job. 👍👍
Same person that runs the camera when Steve or dad isn’t there.

Most of you Tacoma owners don't take your pavement princess out on the trails. So no, not like most of you would.
@@MidnightZR2You move that mouth like a woman.
Nice. Driving is what it’s all about. Good work 👍🏻
Probably one of the best truck reviews I’ve watched!!
Great video. Loved seeing a stock truck tackling off road trails. Plus this one is with the 6 foot bed.
Thanks Howard.
Love it! This is how I imagine the Truck King commute to work looks like 😂
😂
Lol, "When the cat's away..."
Great video.
Best video I've seen in a while. Two 👍🏻👍🏻's up.

Same from another , loved it
This definitely needs to be a new series for each model out there. Really thought it was great. Keep up the great work
It looks quite capable off the road.

Well done sir, well done!
Excellent episode!!! 😁
No talk, just straight to it. More CarTubers need to do this. Give me the stats later.
Love it! Pure fun & adventure 👍🏼
Yup, we loved it, love seeing trucks just in action
Thank you Howard. Didn't buy my trucks for the specs, technology, or popular features. Can they work as hard as I do? Thats it. Thanks again, from a 70 year old with holes in his coveralls, gloves, with boots following the pattern.

I like the real world testing and like the shut up and drive. That is more like we do here in Louisiana. No rock climbing here!!!

Love this kind of content
Great approach to just driving. Another high quality video from the amazing TK!
Love this ‘shut up and drive’ format! Less numbers chatter and more wheel spin is ideal!
Yes please make this a regular thing!! Awesome video!!
It was great. I found myself wishing there was a truck in front that could’ve filmed you the whole time.
I really enjoyed it
Yes please, this is an awesome format!
This is some "Boys will be Boys" shit right here. Pops hitting those puddles without a care. Epic!
If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, it must be a Tacoma.
The 2025 Toyota Tacoma is being back the V6 engine!!
Hey Steve's dad, that was a great video! Please do that more often!
Love all your videos! This is a nice format, too!
White is by far the best looking color on this truck.
A few comments about how it was handling and performing would have been appreciated but good overall!
Keeping it old school. And giving the windshield wipers a good test. Enough said.
very good test, Toyota a good product.
It looked like you were having a blast! The videographer, maybe not so much lol.
I only got splashed once this day on the first shot of the video 😆 Had a great time shooting with H

@@TruckKing It was worth it! The shot was great.
Good job
Thank you for what you do sir.
Would love to see a shut up and drive series on the Pro 4x
I hate this trend of big screens in the middle above the dash line

This is his biggest complaint? Big screen? 😂😂
Me too

Loving that Taco more and more! Good thrashing!
Excellent video Howard thanks. This looks like my cottage road in Ontario right now…lol
Awesome video
I want to see a rematch with the Pro-4X…this time let Howard drive it 😉
That what I’m saying to
I wish the Tacoma had a 7700lbs towing capacity.
I wish it had a V-8 😛
I wish I had a Russian model for a wife

Next time low range. Have you ever considered moving west? I imagine getting test units might be an issue .
Send all that melted snow to Arizona, we need it 😂
Yes,awesome, “just shut up and drive.” - wreck it Ralph, candy crush reference.😎
Steve used to drive like this, he has slowed down since he wreaked the sequoia.
now thats how you test a truck
Im taking mine to big bear next weekend 😗
I liked it but maybe lower volume on the music so we can here the truck work
Not sure if you saw it, but it looks like you got some mud on one of the doors.
yup i enjoyed it,different with no gabbing no offense.was this done on your property.
Good morning Howard. Hope your enjoying the New 3500...ever drive thru lambton county at all??
Yes I have
Quite different from the Frontier video of a few weeks ago. As we’re further into spring, were the conditions somewhat better for the Tacoma?
Frankly they are different every day
When Jr is away Sr will play.
We love Steve's yapping... 😎😜👍
I dig it
Was this an Off-road or a Sport trim? Blue accent inside so I guess Sport?
Nobody knows and/or nobody cares? 😃
I like the format. Maybe even lose some of the music.
Yes, like the shut up and drive.
I am surprised to see a turbo charged engine to go into water and not hydrolock the motor
great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
great video
Thanks!
does the TRD off road not have led or drl running lights?
If the son is away, pops will play,,.😅😅
well done dad
0:52 - I will shut up and watch but need to say this first: the front fascia is mesmerizing and hypnotizing...
... and the rest follows the suit!
Um, bumper cover looks odd.

Shame you can't get this trim in a 2-door model.
Recon for strays
Luckily it didn't break
Does the long bed bring a larger gas tank?
i would take off thoes mud flaps first thing before i hit the gravel .
