I think Toyota is measuring ground clearance at the highest point. It might be 11 inches somewhere, but definitely items that hang down lower than that.
Lots of good changes made. One complete failure is back seat legroom. If you and your dad want to take some friends on some trails, they will not be happy. They had a chance to increase rear legroom, but failed. Great/outstanding two person pickup.

another great video. Thanks to father and son duo. I have one question. I really have a lot of questions about v6 2023 engine vs 2024 twin turbo 2.4L v4 engine. Can you help with this? Which one would you buy among 2023 and 2024 Tacoma, if you had the following constraints - you can only buy one car in your garage. - v6 vs v 4 considering the reliability proven in the past vs the new v4 technology.
My first Toyota truck in 95 had a 2.7L 3RZ 4 cylinder. It was not super powerful for speed or towing, but it was very reliable. Problem with 4 cylinder engines is that they usually work 50% harder than 6 cylinders of comparable design. Having said that, I got 356k miles out of the 3RZ before the engine had a water jacket failure in the head. My 07 FJ Cruiser has 510k on the 4.0L 1GRFE 6 cylinder. A 4 cylinder engine can last a long time, but not as long as a similarly designed 6 cylinder. How long the engines last will be a function of how well the owners keep up with the maintenance, the quality of the oil used, and also how much they abuse their rigs. Personally, I would rather have a naturally aspirated engine vs turbo/SC design from a longevity standpoint. Yes I know mpg is worse with V6 vs 4cyl. Longevity and reliability are my primary concerns.

It only has 5,900 miles on it. You don't need a truck. You can go another 15 to 20 years before you will need another truck. By then you will need $75,000 to $100,000 to buy one. I suggest you start saving for it today.
Not gonna lie bro. I’m a current owner.. 21 TRDOR. If I was in the market right now for a pickup I’d consider the frontier over the 24 Tacoma. 24 frontier is already out and selling under MSRP.
Probably I much more reliable 3.8 litre NA V6. Gets the same or even better mpgs as well. No turbo worries!!! I have a Titan with almost 300.000 miles and runs like new. Nissan makes great truck motors. Titan is bad on gas but it’s all about cost of ownership. Maybe I got lucky but I doubt it.
Many say this is a step in the wrong direction away from the reliable v6. Note a few things first before judging. 1. The turbos are commercially duty tested (more rigorous standards) 2. The truck is now built on a global platform. Meaning in 10-20 years when you want any sort of part it’s going to be much easier and more affordable to do. 3. The downsizing of the engine to a v4 isn’t bad at all. You get fun turbo noises now. More torque and more responsiveness by far than the outgoing v6. Also if you have any sense for style the new platform looks much tougher and more rugged than the previous gen.
Great review! That is the truck that I would want. TRD OR. 6’ bed. Wife loves the blue trim interior. LOL, she prefers the blue exterior, though. Besides price, the other critical variable is payload. We tow a small camper and haul camping gear. The prev gen Taco was mediocre at best with real world payload. Looking forward to more data and information about the Tacoma: options prices, payload, etc.
Truck reviewers are often oblivious to payload numbers. They seem to focus more on dashboard tech. Maybe new buyers are only interested in towing # and carrying groceries??
@@chrisx5127 I am not buying until the end of 2024. Currently, all 6 midsize trucks are on my list. However, I would put the Gen 4 Tacoma in the top 2 or 3 for me. I am also considering base trim 1/2 ton trucks as well. Like most of us, I will be quite price conscious, so we will see how the prices are looking a year from now. I assume Tacomas will be hot, so I may consider other trucks that are more heavily discounted. But, there is a lot to like with the Gen 4 Tacoma!
@@marcpikas2859 for me, payload is a critical variable. Trucks will often run out of payload before the run out of tow capacity. Ideally, I would like to have a midsize truck with about 1500 lbs of real world payload plus/minus. Max payload is an advertising gimmick and rarely reflects the real world payload of most trucks on dealer lots.
Since I still have not seen a modern Ranger nor GM midsize anywhere in my state, I would suspect that the public will see nothing but videos of Tacomas as well.
The TRD OR is the one to get. Plus, the long bed looks great! Thanks for the first snow review, guys! ⭐

I really have a lot of questions about v6 2023 engine vs 2024 twin turbo 2.4L v4 engine. Can you help with this?
Which one would you buy among 2023 and 2024 Tacoma, if you had the following constraints
- you can only buy one car in your garage.

Yes I know mpg is worse with V6 vs 4cyl. Longevity and reliability are my primary concerns.
The NA 4 cylinder Tacoma's are perfect trucks for hardware/lawncare runs. One of Toyota's most reliable setups.

Smaller pumpkin maybe?
On the Toyota USA website, the TRD OffRoad version has some goofy front air-dam. Is Canada getting a different truck?
He air dam comes off in about five minutes. It does suck paying for a part you don’t want. They get their mpg stats with the dam on.
So what's the mpg on this taco?
Same as the old one.
Can you get the TRD sport in two-door?
Nice looking Truck!
Mannnn love the video!
when are these going to be available to order in Canada?
It has lights over the rear bumper?
Funny how everyone talked smack about the ranger with the 4 turbo and now everyone is on the band wagon.
Not me. Have you heard that engine?
The ranger 4 cyl was the first time in like 5 years that these trucks had engines made for them instead of minivan engines, but tards gonna tard
Great video
Great review that truck would just bore the piss out of me if I had it
Wow, the Trd pro and the trail edition are hybrid only.
Are those led light strips at the bottom of the tailgate? Never noticed that before.
Same, but I wish it came with manual for the 6 foot bed. Will you be buying the Gen 4 Tacoma?
Truck reviewers are
often oblivious to payload numbers.
@@deanmay338 Man, I'm so excited. My first ever truck! I wanted a truck since I was 5 years old and saw my first Chevy!
Do they make it in a 6" wider package - you guys need it.
Since I still have not seen a modern Ranger nor GM midsize anywhere in my state, I would suspect that the public will see nothing but videos of Tacomas as well.
