X Japan change the japanese society in the 80th. In this years, if someone dyes his hair blond can be even be stopped by the police. The society was very conservative and this band "breaks" everything Btw, there´s a funny anecdote about X Japan and is from a few years ago. The band met again after maybe 2 decades after they breakup. Some time after this, a producer from EEUU do a documentary about the band (year 2016, We Are X, chek this title) and Stephen Kijak was the choosed to make it. He knows nothing about the band, and only a few days after take the job goes to Yokohama to see them in live. And in one interview he says this anectote. Yoshiki have a strong training in classical music, and he compose "on a score". @@DecvsJapan I recommend to watch We Are X, it tells the story of the band but also so much more, music critics and related indsutry people talk about how society was like back in those days, and they show how the band started to advance to the western market but were tragically cut off by the brainwashing of the singer, and then the death of Hide. This documentary is really well-made and I have actually turned several friends onto X Japan with that documentary :D It's impossibe to not feel anything after watching that film. Such a compelling story. and it gives an insight into Yoshiki's head - he is the drummer/pianist and the leader, and I'm sure he is as well known as Toshi and Hide is in Japan. He is the "father of rock" in Japan, and just overall, possibly the biggest rock celebrity of the country. :D He composed 95% of the X Japan musical corpus. Sadistic Desire was composed by Hide, btw. The "other" guys are Pata (guitar) and Heath (bass) and they SHOULD be named because they are great musicians.
It´s very difficult to answer thing about this. In Japan groups, singers, artists have a private life. There´s a division between public and private life. Toshi got a girlfriend and she was in a "sect". The sect ask Toshi to stop singing "satanic songs" and he left the band. Up to what point was for love or to be brainwashed it´s a difficult issue. See this separation in "Babymetal". The interviewers only ask about the "persona" of the group. They can´t ask private matters and in Japan people don´t tell much about his private life. Example: X-Japan do a lot of charity donations www.yoshikifoundationamerica.org/ You don´t see him telling in interviews or talking much about it. In general, japan "idols" don´t talk much about his private life. In fact in the documentary he answer some times "can´t talk about this"
