We spend spring in the Page area because of everything to do in a 2 hour radius. We camp with a truck camper and find Page perfect for regrouping and restocking. There are two good grocery stores (one is a Walmart), water, sewer dumps, laundry and propane in town. You can camp over at Lone Rock for $15 per night if you have a National Park Pass.
You absolutely correct about the food. It is not that great and it is expensive. Great place visit but one MUST do you researching what you want to go and see.
Great honest video. A Page local here, I’m sure many of us know that the customer service can be way better. Many Navajo people from the reservation travel into work. With the Navajo nation struggling with poverty, it’s difficult for many workers. Not many jobs on the reservation, they come into Page. There are flea markets where you can get food directly from Navajo Families. Would love to you see again!
Thank you very much! I will be back, I love Page and I didn't mean to put the town down or its people in any way. Its more and more interesting every time I visit, the only thing is as I mentioned in the video, there's a few things that would take it to the next lever and hopefully be profitable for everyone! I take take you're points into account next time and visit the flea markets!
Love Page...Pulled up to Antelope canyon with the family and was stunned by the tour cost. I could not afford it. I noticed on the way into town that the highway crossed a slot canyon about 8 miles out of town. I asked the attendant about it and she said an all day parking pass there was $8.00 and she told me to watch the weather very carefully. We had the canyon to ourselves.
Great video! We went to Page a few years ago, and we were shocked at the prices to do a tour, and then it’s even more when you realize you have to tip your guide another $25 a person. So definitely know that it’s a place that will cost you more than you think, to visit. I have the same thoughts about the food. I really love finding amazing restaurants that I want to go back too. Some wonderful, creative chef, needs to consider Page as a place to open a restaurant.
This was great!! Well done. Fun, informative and funny. $60 extra for a tripod!! Definitely sounds like taking advantage. $6 for Bambi! They should be paying you that she's there. Awesome tour of the place your in. That canyon Is stunning. Can't wait to see you pointing at more landscapes 🤣
🤣 I wish Bambi got paid just to be there 😂, $60 is actually cheap for a photo tour, ($180 total) when Upper Antelope canyon was doing photo tours it was $250 a person, and this was 2011/2014, the problem is the communication, and how these new business owners just make stuff up on the fly, it wasn't even a private tour 🤣 there was another random person the same day. its a great place to visit, but they are still figuring out stuff!
@@wollertz If you'd like me to respond to this message you can PayPal me $80. 🤣🤣. Wow! I didn't know those tours were so expensive!! The place seems awesome and your review was very honest and much appreciated.
Love the honesty and I agree with everything you said! I live here currently and know about the crappy customer service for some locations. One comment was right, affordable housing is rare and the realtors around here believe a shitty double wide trailer is worth $300,000 and needs updated after purchase. It’s hard to keep people around here with all the turnover of employees. Page just needs better housing solutions. Also, the town needs updated or build near marble canyon some attractive restaurants. So much potential but no action at making it charming. At least we have Birdhouse Chicken! 😂
Several of my friends worked for the mine. There were several older generations who died from black lung. Many of the workers were given jobs in solar or at least offered to get into training. Many of the older workers decided to retire instead.
I lived there in the early 80's. I watched the blinking lights of the coal plant on the last night on the way out of town until they were gone. Haven't been back since.
Page is a day trip at best. Don't linger. I go there twice a year and each year I stay less and less days because I get sick of the rude customer service EVERYWHERE, the lack of camping options for longer term camping, lack of dumpsters, lack of water fill stations, the terrible food and high prices. Earlier this year I was charged $6 for a gallon of plain old water... sickening.
I actually watched your video because I'm getting ready for a visit the end of summer. I've been trying to find a good restaurants and couldn't believe that i couldn't find one being in this touristy area. Not only was I looking for good food but i have a gluten allergy. Thanks for making this video. Now i can see it's not my research that's lacking. Hopefully someone opens up a good restaurant with gluten free options. Until then I will pack some food.
I love Page Arizona it’s such a nice small town.. what you say is true about the food is true, , nothing special, I love antelope Canyon but I felt it was kind of a rip off at $80 pp, how can a family afford that? And on the third-party sites it’s in the $120 range pp , So go get your tickets direct
Oh and there are TONS of people in those rental RVs swarming around Page, parking too close, devoid of any camping etiquette whatsoever... I hate staying there because of them alone most of the time...
As the Executive Director for the Page-Lake Powell Visitors Center here your comments on the customer service were not well received. We have struggled here with too many checks being given out and people not wanting to return to the workforce! This has made our workforce so lean and very frustrating to the owners. Our restaurants are growing and there are some great venues for food and continuing with our newest the Grand Grandon Brewery. Every town has there ups and down and ours was hit so much harder than others with the Navajo Nation shutdowns till last July 2021. Be patient and appreciate all that Page has to offer. Page America as we call it! Judy Franz - Page-Lake Powell HUB check us out when you are in town for all the dining options and we even have most menus here. Also all the tours available while you are here or just info on things to do on your own.
I understand your position and the position of the city, I did visit the Hub, I got lots of great advice from the person working the front desk, he was the one that charged me $6 (child fee) to bring the dog to Buckskin Gulch, he has some great recommendations as well. I did eat at the Grand Canyon Brewery, and I thought it was just ok. I know food is difficult and restaurants have had a difficult time, but there are also other restaurants around the country that have taken this time to get better. I apologize if my honest review bothers you, but it is my experience and nothing more, Page has some catching up to do, and that is perfectly OK. And based on comments and conversations I have had I am not alone in feeling this way. I will be back, I will do more tours, I have a long list of things I want to do. I also have about 6 more videos coming out from the Page Area.
"Too many checks given out and people not wanting to return to the workforce!" I really detest the people are lazy and don't want to work narrative, which is what you're peddling. What you want is a big supply of cheap labor, even if it's an area with very limited or no affordable housing. I'm guessing if you do something about housing and other necessities and your businesses pay people a living wage, you'll have a bigger supply of workers. If your business can't be profitable while paying employees a living wage, you don't have a viable business model. Edit to add - does your "too many checks given out" comment apply to PPP loans (which turned out to be grants, as they don't have to be repaid) to local businesses?
This was not a good response to criticism. First of all, a lean workforce doesn't have anything to do with a RUDE workforce. The customer service in Page is bad because the workers are RUDE! At the restaurants, you also sometimes don't get what you've paid for on top of the food being trash. There are no great venues for food in Page unless you don't like good food. If you want average, small-town food, then Page food is fine. But if you want flavorful food, cooked well, you won't find it in Page. A brewery just means you'll be too drunk to notice the food is bad. Then you have very little camping options. The BLM land behind the Beehive campground (which only has 8 spots itself) has been closed. Basically you only have the scary dirt lot next to the damn, even scarier Walmart, or the over-priced campgrounds at the marinas.
The town looksvrundown , outdated , what a shame, they cant get a loan from the government to update their storefrots , it looks like timeslippping to the fifties😂😂😂😂😂

Why is navajo struggling when they pay no tax and make $10 everytime a person visits horseshoe bend ?? I see only excuses here
ni12907 The City of Page is charging $10 not the Navajo Nation.
They're all rude. Plain and simple.
Page has grown up! We were there in the 70s. I worked at lake Powell lodge. Beautiful video!!!!
Thank you!
I bet its changed a lot since then, Ive noticed big changes just in the last 10 years!

Great video! I had lunch in Page today and agree... blah food for too much $$$
I came from Moab where it was a whole different story.
Yes! Moab definitely has it figured out!
@@wollertz However, better gas prices here in Page. I paid 3.87 a gallon (regular) compared to 4.54 in Moab.

it is beautiful, but it is lacking in a some areas.

Looking to open a second location for our bike shop here. Thanks for the info, going to make a visit soon.
Good luck! I'd love to check it out next time in in the area, might be a year or two tho 😅
I've been and gone to look around and I came back 5 times, I ❤ it here.
It is great!
Nice video, keep going. Thanks for that.
Thank you!
Great Video
Wonderful Music
The detailed explanation is the best
Thank you!

I see the same issues pretty much everywhere, very few “cities” have got it under control
Great video! I miss living in Page. The town changes so much every time I go. Hope the lake level rises!!!!
Same here! i never lived there but every visit is different!
great place!!
Several of my friends worked for the mine. There were several older generations who died from black lung. Many of the workers were given jobs in solar or at least offered to get into training. Many of the older workers decided to retire instead.
wow. Thanks for sharing, definitely a big improvement in the health of the local work force!
I lived there in the early 80's. I watched the blinking lights of the coal plant on the last night on the way out of town until they were gone. Haven't been back since.
I’m bet it was a lot different in the 80s

That’s why I changed my travel routine and only go places off season now, crazy how bad etiquette is these days
The lake, and me.
