100% agree! I went back time and time again to theme hospital but when my PlayStation 1 was no more I never thought I would get to play it again so two point hospital was amazing!

I loved this game as a child. I rented it every week on PS1 from my local video shop. It must have been a few years after it's release because it was only £2 for the week. I rented it so much that after a couple months the shop gave it to me. Theme Park World was great as well
Such a great game - really what gaming used to be about.. creative, fun mechanics that just worked to make a gameplay loop that entertained you for hours whilst offering up a challenge if you looked for one. You can still see this was a passion project, alot of todays games you can clearly see are a business product in comparison. Great documentary, keep it up!!
Thanks for this documentary, it was so nostalgic! To this day, my mother-in-law shouts: “The hospital administrator is cheating!” She played the game with my partner and his brother when they were kids :)
Bullfrog and Lionhead was such an era. I know people hate Peter but I really don't care about his lies. He made some of the most important games of my childhood, and I will always be thankful for that. It was the only good part of my life. I still hope Black & White will return one day.

It's very funny that Frimley Park was consulted for Theme Hospital - it looks *exactly* like what a hospital in-game looks like, all boxy and sprawling, and largely on one or two levels. It is the perfect real life equivalent of Theme Hospital.

Great documentary for a fantastic game! Here's some interesting bits of trivia: Bullfrog originally wanted to have an Alien Invasion disaster which would introduce, according to UK GamesMaster magazine in October 1996: "Fleets of nasties to destroy, maim and pass around nasty rashes to the population". Evidently, this idea was scrapped for time, but the alien patients were kept in and appear during the final level as a Emergency event. There's a bunch of unused staff announcements and graphics relating to the event, suggesting that the aliens would infect your patents with Alien DNA and turn them into aliens that you would need to cure. There was also originally a "disease" called "Pregnant" ("Cause: Power cuts in urban areas. Symptoms: Faddish eating with consequent beer gut. Cure: Baby is removed in Operating Theatre, washed and presented to patient.") which was half-implemented before Bullfrog decided to move away from real-life conditions.
Played this game for hours at a time back in the early 2000s as a kid. Such good memories. Over 20 years later now work for the NHS. Hospitals aren't too far off how they're portrayed in the game 😂

I found this game at 8years old as a demo copy I played it and it slightly creeped me out but I loved it I'm now in my early 20s and still play it I never fully appreciated the dark humor till I was older and it makes me love the game even more it's a shame no new games come close to this. Also this was an amazing documentary keep up the great work I'm now off to watch another one
I can relate to being creeped out by it. I absolutely loved this game as a 6 or 7-year-old kid and it left a big impact on me, but the 3d cut-scenes scared me.

And I didn't play much of Dungeon Keeper, even though it was a great game, my brother loved it though. But I spent many hours on Theme Hospital. The part of the game I hate are the earthquakes that forever mess up your hospital. A hospital wanted a portion of the profits? Who the hell do they think they are? It's a public entity, they shouldn't be allowed to do that. I've got the original box with the green cross, I didn't see the star design until years later and just assumed it was the game + an expansion. Good video, I've subbed, nice work.

I blame playing theme hospital with my best mate growing up for us being nurses (destroying all sanity) still waiting to treat the bloating head disease or king complex 😂😅
Wow, thank you! Now I know much more about my favourite game from childhood. How sad, that Theme hospital didn't have any addons or DLC's( Still can't understand, why the game from 1997 plays more interesting than her spiritual successor Two point hospital? Maybe in 90-s the creators gifted a part of their souls for their projects)
Great Video to a great Game. I am a big fan of Theme Park but I liked Theme Hospital much more as I liked the detail and being closer to the action. I managed to finish it on PC even though I played it the most on PS1, but that version really struggled when too much was happening on Screen, but PC version had no issues. I haven't played 2 Point Hospital in a while.
I went round my cousins house and he was playing theme hospital. First time I had ever seen it. I can still hear him giggling like a little school girl, listening to the patients dumping in the toilets.

Great vid. We need more Theme Hospital vids. I wish they made more of these in the series.
Bullfrog was one of my favorite gaming company From dungeon keeper to theme park and and theme hospital
"Bloaty Head was inspired by Peter's allergic reaction" that's just his regular head
Genuinely one of the best games of my childhood
Oh man the nostalgia. I remember laughing so hard at them ejecting the guy with no insurance in the intro.
interesting that Molyneux was a part of this, and went on to create Fable for Xbox which is one of my favourite games
Another great video rhubarb! Loving these at the moment :)
6:40 Easy to forget nowadays, but Molyneux was a great programmer/designer in the Bullfrog era.
Two Point Hospital was a very worthy successor in my opinion 👌🏻Two Point Campus is also worth a shout too!
Theme Hospital is one of my all time favorites. It's somewhat soothing game to play.
It was the silly names for the illnesses and crazy machines to Cure them that kept me amused for days on end.
I blame playing theme hospital with my best mate growing up for us being nurses (destroying all sanity) still waiting to treat the bloating head disease or king complex 😂😅
Wow, thank you! Now I know much more about my favourite game from childhood. How sad, that Theme hospital didn't have any addons or DLC's(
Still can't understand, why the game from 1997 plays more interesting than her spiritual successor Two point hospital? Maybe in 90-s the creators gifted a part of their souls for their projects)
This is one of those videos, I never knew I wanted to watch.
Luckily, my YT algorith knows me better than I do.
The made up conditions and the humour made this game.
Absolutely mint mate what a game, I still got the theme tune stuck in my head
I had a CD demo that had a trailer for this game and I always wanted to get it. Never did until I was much older.
