    As someone who is a religious "ask assistant to assign" I loved this. So much to look at that I usually just don't care about. This is another reason why FM is so immersive if you allow it to be. Awesome job Sir Leyodemus.

    The Nianzou email about ambition can actually be positive in some ways, since ambition is a double edged sword. Its supposed to help development (though tests have shown, at least in FM21, that its effect in that regard is limited), but it also leads to players wanting bigger and better, be it wages or clubs.

    • @Leyodemus

      Hi David! Exactly! Didn't want to go in too deep into that in the video, but that's why that email didn't really bother me 🙂Thanks for mentioning this!

    Brilliant first go fellas knew this would be a hit. I agree with most of what you both said. Alpha if i was you as a spurs fan i would be chuffed you got Conte one of the biggest signings of the season and hes showing already whats to come got rid of the deadwood and brought in a couple of very good players to make you stronger imo and you can see already what hes trying to do and im so envious as a man utd fan like you Luke im disillusioned with whats going on at man utd. We should have signed Conte when he was available. Watch Utd go backwards and Spurs transform the rest of this season but particularly next season. Really hope theres much more of this channel to come loved it. Thankyou fellas.

    Fantastic video! The tip on adding U19 players to first team mentoring groups is a game changer.
    I investigated mentoring groups and did a video on it back on FM20 & the one thing I discovered that you didn’t mention was:
    Just like in mentoring, the player you use to welcome a new signing should have a better personality & a higher determination than the new signing for the welcoming period to have a positive effect. They should also speak a common language for them to be able to communicate & this applies when setting up mentoring groups too.
    I reckon the player’s media handling style might determine how well of a mentor a player will be. I once set up a group with Messi as the mentor but none of the mentees gained anything despite his good personality & determination so I believe media handling style might be a factor as well.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @Leyodemus
      @Leyodemus 2 роки тому +5

      Thanks, much appreciated! Ah yeah good shout, I didn't really go into detail about that welcoming period, but you are 100% correct! And that media handling style can in fact give you information about some of those hidden personality attributes! Because in the end, it all boils down to those.
      But in your Messi example...maybe the mentees had some of those personality attributes so low that it simply stopped them from gaining anything? Trust me, I've been there: a good mentoring group with an awesome mentor, 2 mentees doing really well...but 1 mentee didn't improve at ALL, not even after like 3 seasons! Turns out he was really unambitious and all of that, so then they basically just "don't care" about improving anything. 🙂
      The more I deep dived into all of this in the last couple of editions of FM, the more I realised that understanding those hidden attributes and personalities is KEY when developing players. That was something I had never even thought about before. I used to just look at determination, work rate & the star potential ability, that was it! 🙂 Hope this helps, thanks again!

    NIce video! Couple of questions:
    1) Will you promote 4-5 u18 youths with balance mentality, but high potential to first team squad for mentoring?
    2) Do you normally ignore your staff when they say "XXX should be move from Mentoring Group 1 to Mentoring Group 3"?

    • @Leyodemus
      @Leyodemus 2 роки тому +2

      Hi, and thanks! 🙂
      1) Well 4 or 5 is a lot, but I tend to do that for 1 or 2 players who have the highest potential yes! By doing that, they also fully train with the first team players and you can even give them some playing time maybe (especially try and do that if they are over 18 years old) ! That could/should give their development a MAJOR boost, depending on their personality, determination, work rate, ...
      2) In all honesty, I rarely get those emails after setting up the groups myself, but if I let my assistant do it however... 🙂But yeah, I would at least go and try to find out what the reason is, and if you see that the player is actually unhappy with it, do NOT ignore it and move him! Mentoring can be awesome, but in my opinion it's not worth having unhappy players because of it.
      Hope this helps, let me know!

      Thanks Cyril! Yeah probably your mentor had lower DET than the mentee, and then that's what can happen! Careful with mentees that have a very high DET, or at least face the fact that they might drop 1 or 2 DET and/or LEA points, but gain other stuff at the same time. I guess that's the core message of this video: think about the goals for each mentoring group, and set expectations accordingly. Good luck and thanks again! 🙂

    Individual training question: does age make any difference with how well thetraining works? I kinda prefer to leave older players alone, and not do any individual training with them. When I say older , I mean 27 and above. Somehow that feels like the point where I just dont want to bother a player with learning a new trait, or doing something differently. What they became by 27 is what they are.

    • @Leyodemus
      @Leyodemus 2 роки тому +4

      Hi! Although it's theoretically very possible to just keep doing that same training for those older players, I totally agree with you! 🙂I also think the age of 27-28 is a good turning point, since there mentals will in fact keep improving, but not necessarily the physical and technical skills. At that stage I mainly want to implement them as mentors (depending on their personality of course) or send them on leadership courses and all that stuff, but I stop giving them those heavy individual training workloads. I'll include it in the next video, thanks for the input!

    - if you send a player on a leadership course - are they not available for games?

    • @Leyodemus
      @Leyodemus 2 роки тому +1

      Hi Antreas, and thanks! 🙂Well, a lot depends on the personality of the mentee. I've had players in a good mentoring group for 4 seasons...without ANY result! Turned out they were totally unambitious and all of that, and that was the reason they didn't develop at all. BUT if they have a good enough personality...the results can be quite good!
      Also don't forget: mentoring is just 1 part of a player's development. So no, it probably won't give you superstar results by itself, but if you set it up as part of the "development process", that could really boost a young player's profile within a couple of seasons! Good luck!

  • @paulb4604

    I have an interesting problem that I'm trying/hoping to solve with mentoring, but I don't know if the game takes it into consideration. That being language spoken? I'm at Kaiserlautern in Germany and I made the mistake of signing a striker who when he arrived only spoke Spanish, and I have no other players in any of my squads who speak Spanish. Obviously I sent him out of a language course, and he's now up to "basic" German, but is still taking the course. He's in his own social group with no other group members. Not surprisingly he's REALLY struggled since arriving at the club. My guess is that it's a language barrier issue. So now that he at least speaks BASIC German I'm going to put him in a mentoring group with team leaders from the core group and hope that A) They can help him learn German faster (Is that a possibility in FM?), and B) that they can help him integrate into their social group. It'll be interesting to see if it helps becausee I REALLY need him to start scoring some goals! LOL

    • @Leyodemus
      @Leyodemus 2 роки тому +1

      Hi Paul! I'm not sure but I THINK you can only influence that by sending him on those language courses. It COULD be that if you would have a mentor that speaks Spanish and German (in your case), that it would help to put him in that mentoring group. But to be fair, I don't think it would. Just my own thoughts though, not facts 🙂It will probably get him into their social group faster though, without any doubt. Good luck!

    • @Leyodemus
      @Leyodemus 2 роки тому +2

      Hi Atrix! By "stability" you mean consistency right? This kinda goes hand in hand with determination, but consistency you cannot pass through mentoring, that's the main difference. My advice would be: praise the player when playing/training well, but also berate him for doing bad in both. Do that and give him playing time, that's the only way to improve consistency really, and it will also positively affect their determination. However, some players have SUCH a low consistency/determination, that it will probably stick with them for their entire career. Be sure to check the scouting/coaching reports to spot it and simply avoid signing players like that! Hope this helps, let me know!
