  • Hi and welcome to Micks Mowers.
    in this video you will see how I fix a Hunting/Surging problem.
    Also it looks like the gent who had the mower had put petrol mix in the tank not plan fuel.
    after the carb was done and a tank flush the mower was back up and running ready to be sold on.
    I hope you liked the video and if so please comment and subscribe.
    also please feel free to look up my sons syndrome link below.

    A great tutorial Mick, I’m trying to get my youngest son to watch your channel. I gave him a 48 pro to clean up and sell after I sorted out many issues with it. Keep up the great work fella 👍🏼

    Had very similar recently with a mower having had suspected 2 stroke mix put in it. Cleaned as you did in this video and started first pull!
    Have just discovered your videos. Enjoying watching them all. Cheers.

    Mick - do you know where I can get a replacement spring for this carb? The one I'm after is the very small spring which sits under the governor arm, ref. 6.36 in your brilliant video.

    hi mick nice video, when you took the main jet out there seems to be an emulsion tube behind it, was this not removable also. by the way you have a nice loving relationship with your son that only adds to the video.

    • @themowerman
      @themowerman  5 років тому

      Hi and welcome. Ok so on this carb the tube is pressed in and can be removed but you will need to re press it with a new o ring. Its similar to the sv/rv carbs but a cheaper make. Yeah my youngest son is fantastic and he is my world. He has additional needs and life can be very hard for him and for us too. He has Smith magenis syndrome and is very complex. But on good days he is a lot of fun and very loving.

    Hi. Why would I be finding petrol in the oil tank when I emptied it and black petrol I’m guessing dripping from exhaust when it’s running

    • @themowerman

      I would say the mower has been tipped up on its side and the oil goes into the petrol

      So it’s ok. If I just fill oil as I’ve emptied it, and try to flush it out by filling and emptying the oil a few times to get the oil back to it’s normal thickness? Would that work

    Hi Mick,
    Great video as usual. I've got an sv150 engine mower in at the moment and it's the type with the fuel tank built into the recoil cover and guess what: its leaking fuel.
    Do you know if the replacement tank can be bought or do I need to go for a fuel tank conversion kit? The latter is pricey!

    • @themowerman
      @themowerman  4 роки тому +1

      You can convert them without getting the kit. Just need a some homemade brackets.. I have done lots..

    • @jeffjeffjeff2
      @jeffjeffjeff2 4 роки тому +1

      @@themowerman Thanks. So would I be right in thinking I would get a new fuel tank and then fabricate some brackets for the recoil to sit on? For what it's worth the recoil works fine....it's the tank end which is split in 3 or 4 places.
      I've thought about plastic welding it using a soldering iron and a cable tie as the soldering rod.....quite a few videos on youtube showing how to do it.

    • @themowerman
      @themowerman  4 роки тому +1

      @@jeffjeffjeff2 I tried welding it but it did not work. You have to pack out the pull cord and attach a new tank. I will try and do a video on it

      I treat them as disposable - I buy one for £100 or so and run it till it dies - usually about five years so much cheaper than servicing and repairing a quality one. Cuts fine (but then I'm not overly fussy!). I know it's terribly wasteful but it's all about the £££ for me.
