      Beyond a certain GRT and guest capacity (12) yachts need to comply with cruise ship regulations, which a lot of owners actively avoid. Octopus and Eclipse for instance have lifeboats on davits, which spoil their lines somewhat

    • @eSysmanSuperYachts
      @eSysmanSuperYachts  4 роки тому

      That’s true but they have to wait 3-5 years whilst it’s being built. With a ready built yacht they can get it right away. Usually they will then take it back into the shipyard for a refit to make it to their personal taste but that’s maybe 4-6 months.

    The real reason why so many SuperYachts are for sale is because the global economy is starting to tank. In a few year's you'll be able to buy a SuperYacht for pennies on the dollar, the owners will be begging for you to take them off their hands. All of this cheap nasty debt has fueled the big boom in SuperYachts in the last ten years. World debt according the the BIS is over $250 Trillion, it was $165 Trillion before the GFC in 2007. Thanks for your great channel, I always look forward to you posting a new video, keep up your great work.

    When a boat is on charter how much influence / control does the crew have on the guests behaviour? I’m thinking about wear & tear and potential damage to boats under regular charter - then the owner has a ‘tardy’ boat when they use it. Simon

      @76 You are so right. People don't know how deep this goes. Money being backed by oil and being printed out of thin air has allowed Banks, Intel Agencies and Energy industry to suppress certain new forms of energy that are not only cleaner than oil and coal but more powerful and extremely cheap if not almost free. President Trump moving money back to the Gold Standard won't just fix our financial system but will lead to release of energy technologies that will make life so much easier for the average person. The cost of living for the average person would become extremely cheap. Those liberal environmentalists are too stupid to realize President Trump will be the best President they've ever had because he is about to move humanity into a Star Trek like era an era that Democrats and Globalists wanted to keep humanity from having. They've been sitting on these new technologies since the 80s and were allowed to because these new technologies would run the OIL companies out of business which would have destroyed the US dollar . Giving Bankers and oil companies full control over our society.

    Having viewed quite a few of the accommodations aboard superyachts (on UA-cam), the only one that I thought tasteful, proportionate and one in which I would like to stay was accommodation for the Chief Engineer or Captain, which consisted of the bed with an on suite toilet and shower room, and a small built in couch and separate office desk with chair.
    It was tastefully outfitted in a lovely wood (cherry, I think) and was a lovely sized and outfitted cabin, completely unlike the rest of the accommodations for host and guests!
    I'm not sure if it's down to my working class background or if the accommodations aboard superyachts really are uber gaudy and almost a caricature as owners desperately try to outdo one another with supposed opulence and glamorous surroundings...

      What do they do to keep occupied? Well they do their jobs, There is always a load of work to do. Often during these times when teh owner is not using the boat, lots of servicing is done on engines, teak floors, Cleaning of tanks etc. There are huge lists of jobs that cannot be carried out when the vessel is in use.

    Octopus visitedFT Lauderdale a number of times loading supplies for its extended research crusies.I was at Pt Everglades perhaps 5 years ago and it looked only slightly smaller than a Carnival cruise ship.That visit it loaded supplies from six 40 foot containers. I spoke briefly with a couple of crew members who said the food the crew ate was the equal of anything first class passengers ate on the Cunard Queens.And that often Mr Allen joined the crew. HE and his research ideas will be sorely missed

    The average ownership of a yacht is a little over three years. I think they sell them for three reasons. 1. That was great but time to move onto some thing else, not worth what it costs. The cost is always more than anyone tells you it will be. 2. That was great let's get a bigger one. 3. the owner dies or gets sick. The time it takes to sell one is about a year. Thanks for another great video, always enjoy them.

    About your remarks on Achilles, being an older boat, it is complicated to take the tenders off the deck. Arguably they could go on the foredeck but that would imply to modify the superstructure a fair bi and put a crane obviously. Then, about deck space, it has one of the largest bridge deck space of any 180 ft yacht. You could probably play cricket up there ! Actually if I am not mistake the tenders used to be positionned originally up on the bridge deck. Then about the "small size" yes I agree with you, nowdays it is a "fairly average sized boat" but it is still 55 mt and when launched in 1984 it was in the Top 100 yachts in the World.

      I did tour M/Y Bold a couple of weeks ago. They are on my channel. I’ve also hopefully got another coming up.

    It's interesting but at the same time somewhat strange to watch videos of October 19, knowing what a crisis is developing at exact that time with nobody realizing it yet - including myself at that time!

      Yes I’ve noticed that it’s not broadcasting. Should be. But as long as it’s moored it’s not going to get in trouble I think.

    I wondered if you could answer a few questions please. At 2:50 it is said twelve people can be accommodated and there is a crew of around twenty. So is this craft going to have 32 people on board? The crew all having accommodation as well? How long can this craft sail with enough food, water and fuel?

      I've crossed the Atlantic on vessels of this size recently. That's about 3700 Nautical Miles and approx 15 days at sea. Approx 18 crew onboard, no guests. We make our own water so as long as we have fuel we can make water (RO plants).
