SYC: When you come to Capri, book well, WELL in advance.
Me on the couch eating $1 Ramen: I'll keep that in mind.
Can I make a suggestion? Whenever you pull into a new port, can you take a moment and show us the scenery. Doesn't have to be much, but just seeing the area you parked the AWOL in would be great. You keep pulling into these beautiful port's but we never see them. This one you said you left Naples and I was dang, I wanted to see Naples. 😃
Believe me, you didn't miss anything with Naples.
@@thomasnowell maybe so, but still it would be nice.
@@thomasnowell Believe me, you are completely wrong.... ;)
@@saldan702thank you Sal, I am completely disabled and can't even leave my house. Please, let me me see the world! I don't care if it sucks, just let me see it.
@@thomasnowell I love Naples and especially the famous Port of Naples, we were there three years ago. The old Italy.
Once again, a tremendous look inside the operations of a superyacht. Great stuff.
The talent and patience it takes is just mind blowing. I love these videos. Thank you so much!
Don't forget the experience and muscle memory and don't forget the theory in a classroom as well sir.
I respect the men who drive these things. I despise the men who own them. They are never the same people. And there’s always a huge difference between them. One is an honest hard-working person and the other one is a thief scam corrupt con artist.
I find it interesting the number of small boats that are kind of darting to and fro around the entrance. They must think that these large yachts can stop or manuveur like they do. I compare it to when I have a load of 350+ bales of hay (about24,000 lbs) on my trailer and someone will pull out in front of me and think that I can instantly slow down or stop.
Idiots are not restricted to the road......
The fact is that this kind of fucking yachts should not be allowed to dock in this little harbours
@@chesk8in why? And why use bad language?
@@chesk8in why not? Looks like they're docking there just fine to me? It'd just be easier without impatient morons in the way.
Having spent five years sailing around the world in the Royal Navy (ex) I have seen loads of ports, but never one as chaotic as that! Great precision under lots of stress 👏👏
Well done Captain Tristan... well done. Thanks for showing us a superyacht docking in a busy port.
Hi, welcome to Capri. Hope you and your guests will enjoy the beauties of my island, and you’ll have the chance to recover from stress resulting from approaching the harbor (other than space/geographical constraints, troubles unluckily happens when people use to manage resources primarily on their own interests!). Would you spend some more days here, I’ll be glad to pay you a visit for thanking you in person of all nice videos you show, and for making people of the web dreaming about super yachts! THANKS, CIAO ;-)
E magari gli insegni a dire “Capri” 🤗
That was a good one, anyone who thinks "This guy has an easy job" should watch this video. Sadly, there are more places becoming disorganized than organized. Thanks for sharing.
Hats off for that maneuver, Tristan! Narrow port, groundlines and Italians on small vessels. Didn‘t think, that‘s possible...
You make that look so easy. All the other little boats are aggravating to say the least. Great job and another very nice video.
Blue Skys and Tailwinds
Would love to see how it all works when docking in windy conditions.
Missed your vids Tristan. It's so enriching to see a pro at work. And your friendliness shine through which makes it even more enjoyable.
If there is a better yachting channel on UA-cam I haven't seen it, thumbs up.
In that part of Italy they sail the boats same as they drive cars on the roads 😂 Giving-way cars always try to pass ahead of you, during the traffic jam they use to fit in order to get ahead of the others, people thinking they're the only one on the road... and they pretend to be right! No patient at all, same as in this vid, this one make me laugh but I shiver at the same time, thinking of the captain having that amount of responsibility.. and finger crossed also for the ferry captain. I'm working in the merchant navy and seeing this situations is very frustrating 🤦♂️
Anyway, great vlog as always Capt. Tristan, so much interesting, wishing you will continue with this technical/operational format.. sometimes I miss the onboard life and your videos bring me back there!
Little pronunciation tip, as italian: Capri has the accent on the "a", so it becomes Càpri 😁
that was stressful only looking at it.. now I see what my captain sees!!! Thanks Tristan
A huge thank you for sharing your experiences 🙏 It really does help..well it helps me as a novice in the boat world. I started on a Windy GM37 and as you said in a previous video... try to dock without using the bow thruster and that is such a buzz when one has cracked the code of docking by using the engines only.
Once again keep the excellent videos coming 👍😉🙏😊
Capri is an organized mess just like Naples. You have to live it to understand it, something difficult for an outsider. The tight harbour does not help, cause I would think that for example St. Tropez or Monaco during the Grand Prix are just as busy
It's worth having a look on google earth to see just how tight this manouver is. Nicely done.
You will make us docking experts!
Thanks Captain!
I don't see any pressure from anybody , and i don't get any sensation of stress . It's probably hight season and Capri ( you read it Cápri and not Caprí ) as many little other island , Capri has lot of nice little boat . Dock your giant yacht in Napoli port and get a little nice boat to visit the island ... !!!
Another great video Tristan. Thank you. Textbook docking by you and your crew. Makes for great viewing.
Nice job well done, always doing your due-diligence, staying focused on the task at hand, you are a true role model. Stay calm Be like Tristan Mortlock and carry on.
Thank you for letting us experience the docking. 4K and more ASMR kindly please. Thank you Captain!
Merci beaucoup
Calm and slow. That's the way to do it. 👍🏻In these conditions you have all the time of the world. No comparison to wind and current situations.
It's stressful no doubt but it's nice to be in Capri Italy
I arrived on Capri with my car via ferry from Naples. Very beautiful and enjoyable island.
Might be stressful, but you are so calm and confident at the task in mind. Great job and makes a tricky job seem easy.
Looks like chaos but you seem to handle it like a champ. 👍🏽
Brilliant as usual. I don't know how you keep your cool with the other nutters who don't pay attention to their surroundings. 👏👏
nice mooring, captain! Capri, as you said, is super busy (and super expensive), and super confusing with ferries, day motoring yachts etc.. all moving in and out. We were moored at the entrance, on the visitors' dock, with a 40 ft sailing yacht and tossed around day and night by the incoming and leaving ferries.
ive'd been in that place with a yatch as a crew i missed that place in its not easy to park astern lots of boat but small marina watching here in guimaras island stay safe guys
Fantastic job at docking. Slow it the way to go. If the country/area allows it, it would have been great to see an overhead drone video of that entire entry to docking. Thanks Captain!
Another awesome docking video! We'll never understand the other boaters who are oblivious to what is going on around them. Well done!
Wow you really do know your stuff Tristan we only have a 33ft boat and I get nervous every time docking , but maybe that keeps me alert 👍🏻💪🏻
Rule of tonnage always wins!!!
Most enjoyable Tristan. No pressure.............
Nice job :)
Still looking forward to see what is happening for you and the rest of the crew now that AWOL has been sold.
I wonder what the new boat will be? Bigger or smaller?
@@GrumpyAustralian I just hope the owner gets a new one so that Tristan and the rest don't have to switch employer :)
If he does it would probably be a bigger one i'm guessing.
I missed the posting that AWOL was sold. Is there information you can share about the future for all of you?
Tristan has very clear position about "Who is in charge, Owner or Captain".
I don't see a reason for any of the two to don't continue together, if they are both in sync on that matter.
Well done. As you say, slow is pro. I’m surprised that the port officials didn’t say anything to all the boats that were getting in your way.
This looks pretty orderly considering it is Italy
Always good to see you Captain!!!
Thats like the boat launch down the road from my house, a complete cluster. It amazes me how clueless some people can be to whats going on around them
You make it look easy.
If that was what you look like under stress, you would be positively horizontal in laid back circumstances!
Anyone know what make the sleek grey yacht was? Looked fast!
Maybe he didn’t show the three practice attempts 😂
The grey yacht is a Baglietto 144. Top speed 29 knots.
@@BilldalSWE nice Italian job that 144 footer, semi planing hull no doubt.
Tristan:- Have you ever thought that cameras around the bigger boats would be useful for the Captain when docking in tight spaces? Pretty much like cameras in cars; They give the driver a view which is impossible to see from their physical position whilst parking.
Lots of bigger yachts have cameras
Im am only at 8:33. What you and your crew do to make guest happy and enjoy their time, WOW. I dont think I would even want to try that. Way to many things can go wrong. If I were your guest I think I would lock myself in cabin as you came in and then left. LOL
Love your slow smoth driving. Have you done a video about normal cursing and how you get the boat started and what checks you do before you chart a course and leave the harbour. I think that would be interesting.
GREAT VID THANK YOU, I've missed these informative vids and the AWAL Crew!! Wishing you all the best from Barrie Ont, Canada 😎
Great job to you and crew. What a cluster you had dock in. Handle it like a pro 👍
This was one of my favorite videos you've posted yet.
Got to admit I was expecting a cameo from a seagull
"They'll get out of you way, I learned that driving the USS Saratoga"
Well if anything's going to happen it's going to happen out there.
Very Nice Tristen as always Sir !.
Nice driving Captain
Well done. Beautiful
Thank you for the nice video! Watching from Los Angeles, CA Steve Miller.
We have be there several time absolutely beautiful.
Nerves of steel! Great video, thank you
Love this channel
Hello captain i love your video. As i m new in this industry and trying to get job, your video had help me alot .So thank you so much from the bottom of my heart🙏🏼 😊
Great video with the commentary. Would be great to see the hand controls. I remeber you used to mount a gopro to show all your inputs and changes to the thrusters.
Great video, as usual. My marina is on a river that sometimes has quite a bit of traffic, which can make backing into our slip challenging. I've had to abandon an attempt a few times because a boat traveling down the river prevented me from turning when I had to, and by the time they passed, the current took me past the slip.
very good maneuvering skilled.
I remember Capri and the ''Terminal Aliscafi Capri'' with all those Cruise Ships plus Ferrires and even some would anchor outside of the harbor and come in with tourists onboard their rescue vessels. Not such a happy place... However, it's a beautiful island and worth visiting. Love their Limoncello :-)
@super yacht captain loving the channel.. only just found it in the last month.. superb yacht and great Crew and Captain.
Very nice video, I am really impressed how experienced and calm you handle this situation. Great praise and I am looking forward to the next video. All the best from Port Marina Cuarentena Palma de Mallorca
GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS CAPTAIN 👨✈️‼️‼️. Vinny 🇺🇸
You make it look so easy. Great video. Thank you.
That was brilliant 👍👍👍👍👍👍
That Port looks more like a bumper car Festival but with boats always interesting Tristan
Great video, thanks. I am from Neaples and what I can tell you is that if you really want to become nervous you might drive a car in my city 😁
Organized Chaos, It works for some, I'm not a fan. I like calm and chilled out. Great Job Capt.
Thanks Tristan and the whole team. Good job and lovely content for my eyes!
Love these videos. Nice, relaxing morning.
You make it look soooooooo easy.
Just found you from Aquaholics tour of AWOL.
Great chanel and subscribed
Well done Tristan
Capt. Tristan, please note that Capri must be pronounced with accent on the A and not on the I, as it isn’t a French name, but an Italian name! 😃 Thanks for your fantastic videos! Bye from Rome
Well done!
great great maneuver captain,
keep them coming please.
stay safe
cheers
When it comes to a boat of this size does mass x velocity = right of way!? :)
Very impressive despite the chaos around you!
Thank you Tristan for this sharing, not easy in Italy on land routes, I didn't know it was the same in a port. 😂😂😂👍👍🙏🙏
One of my favourite places
But I’ve seen the harbour it’s crazy at times
Hi, greatings from Croatia! Can you make a video and talk about countries you visit, like Italy, Greece, Croatia etc and talk about differences between those countries.
Capri is the boat we had it was a Bayliner Capri Model it was a 1985 Bayliner Capri loved it so funny a port with a boat model
Awesome job Tristan, very stressful, amazing vlog, have a great day,
Excellent !
Thank you - vielen Dank -
That was a lot less stressful than cramming a yacht where you have to use fenders to keep off another 2 yachts and between 3 yachts close to a million dollars worth of paint $ $
Wow. Love ❤️ it
Excellent.
You made it look easy.
Looking very nice.
Would love to see a heart rate monitor, on you, while docking. This looks very stressful.
Thise little boats WILL scatter away when necessary
- THE UNWRITTEN LAW OF TONNAGE!
Thumbs up Tristan (my edit- sorry for the incorrect name originally). I've backed into plenty of tight slips, but never Med Moored along a sea wall. If you made a video on the lines you run off the stern when Med Mooring I would be very interested. Cross backs, springs, what is what....? I know you have posted some videos of bringing lines in when departing, and maybe throwing heaving lines, but a walk through of how you refer to each line, and its function would be interesting to me, and I'm sure many others......
Thanks, the name is Tristan. 👍
@@SuperYachtCaptain-Thank you Captain Tristan, you run a tight program. Your high standards are something I appreciate and acknowledge.
Beautifully done.....
Thanks!
Great docking Captain!
