  • First of all let me tell you that I have NOT had a purple rinse on my thinning hair! I filmed this video in a studio in the UK against a green screen, and the lighting caused this effect!
    Over my years in yacht brokerage from time to time I encounter wealthy individuals who have simply given up in their efforts to buy a yacht due to the chaotic and unreliable nature of the industry. This video addresses one of the causes of this problem, and a solution to it!

    That was very interesting. Certainly online technology has created a false sense of security for would be buyers of many products. With the huge cost of a super yacht, only a solid honest and reputable broker from one of the established agencies would be the sensible choice, so great to show the pitfalls of online yacht shopping!

It was keenly priced, very well equipped and in top condition for its age. I couldn't understand why i only got a load of spivs calling up, telling stories such as they were driving down along the South coast of england with a shortlist of boats and were planning on stopping in to see my mine (despite it being clearly advertised as lying in Ireland!)..once we had a detailed chat about the specification they never called back. I don't really understand their agendas, but it was all about generating fake information. A strange world we live in!

Let's say a prospective first-time buyer has the cash to buy say a 35 meter but has heard the old adage of 'If it flies or floats then lease it, do not own it', whilst there is plenty of information on chartering costs, surely there must also be a leasing arrangement for a much longer-term than one would normally charter, as a stepping stone prior to full ownership, if so what would the cost comparisons be? thanks, Andy

    Can you recommend some books or websites that have the ins and outs on yachts, from upkeep, crew needed, cost of crew, unexpected expenses, how much yachts cost of built from scratch, compared to buying one already built.
    An example, if I bought land for $1 million for 3 acres and built 10,000 square foot home, with the high end amenities you see in a mansion. I know it cost depending on what I put in the home $250 to $500 a square foot and then depending on where the property was built I could sell it for 2.5% of what it costs me to build it. So a $5 million dollar home I could sell for about $12 million if let’s say I was in California. That’s because there’s all kinds of data on how much it costs to build a home and what you can sell it for, the running costs for upkeep and if you have an house full of staff.
    When it comes to yachts, it’s not that simple. Yacht owners don’t want people to know what they spend on a yacht they own a year, the cost to actually have a crew, where to get a crew, what’s a good management company etc. I know there’s some info online, like the cost of the yacht you want to put 10% for upkeep, but then what’s the upkeep on a yacht you buy at an auction for a 1/3 of what it was going for or a vessel that is now 1/10 the cost it originally cost, because now it’s 20 years old. Does that mean the upkeep is the cost of the yacht you paid or the original cost. So if you buy a yacht for $10 million, but technically it was originally $60 million, 20 years ago. What is the upkeep etc.?
    I’m looking for I guess yacht buying and cost for dummies or something like that. A sight you can search the info out. I’m not at the moment capable of buying any boat, but it would be nice if there was more info available for us non yacht experts.
    I’m not sure if others have this concern or it’s just me, but I know I personally would like to know more. Same way I know what I can buy land for or cost of building a home and the potential I could sell the property for once I decide I’m no longer happy.
    Thank you for your time and I do appreciate these videos

    Kinda the same thing when it comes to real estate. And if you go to someone that doesn't have the listing, then they will have to try and co-broker it or get paid a finders fee, which in turn can cause the buyer to pay more because where there may have been some wiggle room on the price, some of that may be lost if the listing agent or broker has to co-broker or pay a finders fee to another agent or broker. Then the back and forth between the two can take more time and even cause issues with the sale. It's best to try and deal directly with the listing agent.

    • @Yachtsforsaleblog
      @Yachtsforsaleblog  3 роки тому +1

      Interesting. I didn’t know that this happens with real estate, thought it was more regulated.

    • @calvinh.8882
      @calvinh.8882 3 роки тому

      @@Yachtsforsaleblog It is pretty regulated, Like the prices, if there's a price change they have a certain time frame to update the MLS, but a lot of times other real estate agents won't have a listing their customer is looking for, so they go on the MLS and find properties that other agents/brokers hold the listing on so they have to work the deal with them.
      If you happen to find two that do a lot of work together it isn't that bad, but some real estate companies or their agents have had issues with others so they don't work very well with each other, so it can cause timely issues. Like one may not return the other's calls in a timely manner lol. I dealt with that issue on the last property I bought, and almost lost the deal because another buyer contacted the listing agent between calls with my real estate agent. It was kind of a mess because the listing agent tried ignoring the call on purpose to try and get another contract with the other buyer. And I offered full price, so it wasn't like I gave some lowball offer. I ended up getting it, but it took like two weeks longer than it should have.

The one that listed it at 995K is the son of a dear friend, so naturally, i called him and told him to do something about it because this was just sheer outrageous! difference of 25% for a yacht under 1M.
