My grandad recently died and your face expression on the thumbnail looked exetly like him thank you for bring back so many happy memories. Also great video
Just got back from a visit to The farm shop, best steak burgers I’ve ever had! Milkshakes are amazing and a little bonus was meeting the Ginger Guy! Well worth the 2 hour round trip.
Very informative video Tom. Wonderful idea to look at other setups as you can adjust their problems without the expense to you, making your job easier.
Un-related wore a farm life hoodie in Disney land Paris. Two people came up to me, one french one possibly Italian and said they watch you! We had a full ten min chat about "the ginger warrior ' and the new parlour!! World wide fame or what!!!!
Well done as always Thomas for highlighting the wonderful work you Farmers having been doing to give us PROPER food again. We have always grown wonderful food on our Island which has sustained us through wars. Thank ALL your Farmers for keeping us fed.
Absolutely incredible video. It’s amazing how much farming has moved forward and the thought put into every area. Thanks Tom for bringing this out into our world and showing us all the different ways it’s changed for the farmers, animals and the environment. Great job Tom.
As someone who works in a cheese shop that sells Lyburn cheeses this was very interesting to watch. As someone who also went to ag college (even though I was there for forestry and not farming, seeing some of the changes to farms that have arrived since then (thirty years ago now) is quite interesting too.
This farm is really a super farm; vegetables milk and yummy cheese ! Wonderful! I guess that this setup is possible because it is located in the South of Britain . Thank you for a lovely tour!😁🇨🇦
Out and about yesterday when we passed a dairy farm , Hauxley Farm Dairy, Northumberland that had milk vending machines. So we had to check the quality of this award winning family farm. YUM!😉 Their vending machines had milk, full, semi and skimmed, butter, cream and of course milkshakes. They also deliver with their electric vehicles. Thanks Tom for showing us what you do, and the positive effect it has for other farms encouraging us to visit.
i have some issues with certain flashing lights myself but these seem ok to me,,,, the last time i had an issue was when one of the lights at work was playing up and flickering. also FYI the flickering is to do with the frame rate of the camera
I love to get into the nitty gritty details of something like a milking parlour. It's so interesting how everything works and why it works the way it does.
I think GEA rep is spot on regarding milk line diameter. If you oversize the milk line it means more hot water / energy to clean it and more cleaning chemicals. Even with a variable speed vacuum pump you energy cost are more with a let’s sat 3 “ vs 2 inch milk line. Equip dealer have elaborate software to size the lines. Best to listen to them. Slope of milk line seems simple enough but many times the crossover pipes going into the milk receiver jar have minimal slope and that is where you want the best slope
Very interesting set up. Great to see a variety of different systems that work for the farmer / herdsman . Wish I was in the UK and could try their cheese.
Nice one Tom, bet you can’t wait for your milking parlour to be finished, love the little things like the curved rails to make the cow stand in a way so it makes it easier for you to milk them, Movember has gone, so what’s with the cheesy tash ?, Cheesy, cheese 😂 , 👍👍.
Interesting to see something different. aparently you picked up some new tips you will use. You need to tell us next video how the cheese was and which one you prefer.
I am a big fan of Out Of Parlour Feeders, the feed goes to the cows that need it not only re milk production but body condition. They also do not need a tractor tied up for feeding. The Parlour was great the only difference that I would make "if" the space was available was to have the feeders on the other side of the wall. By doing this it leaves less dust, the cows do not have any chance of knocking the pipes trying to get more cake and the walls are easier to clean. Great video, keep it up.
Enjoying your contributions immensely, Tom. Unfortunately had to skip past a lot of this one due to flickering. I'm a migraine sufferer. None the less, I do look forward to your videos.
Very informative, always a plus to know where and how your food comes from. Think Tilly will be a little put out you have a best girl on another farm. ha h aha.
I’ve been to Lyburn farm, my cousin is a cheese maker there its amazing to watch the cheese be made from milk all the way through to cheese. Such a great set up they have.
set the auger to top off the hoppers 15 to 20 min before milking and the cows will associate the feeder sound with milking time and they will come up on their own.
All farmers do different things here in United States with challenges of their cows when feeding and milking and separate them and ones that gets shots with medicine they put in another pen and milk them separate from other cows until check to make sure milk is good and cows our healthy.Thank for letting uses visit your farm and showing us around its awesome.
A very interesting video......always good to see how other people do things. I'm all for the low cost way of doing things.......minimum machinery and low cost machinery......you can soon spend hundreds of thousands of pounds these days on big kit. and the self feed silage is how we use to feed our cows when we were milking years ago
It is interesting seeing different set-ups. Pairing dairy with vegetables is a good plan. Veggies do love manure. Nice to have your own manure, no chance of contamination with weedkillers. Have you decided what set up you are going for? I would have thought that would already be on order by now.
Great setup. I worked on cheese farm in winter 2002 spring 2003. Clolline cheese farm moyne co tipperary. In November I was working 10 in morning till 7 pm evening December. February to March April I was morning and evening milking every day. 6 am 4 30 pm
Totally enjoyed hearing how to milk happy cows and the details of this set up. It is great to hear the differences from each of the farms you have visited.
I love it!! And I feel SO much smarter as pertaining to watching your videos. I just love getting smarter about dairy. Thanks!! As I sit here wearing my Farm Life TP green w/tan St paddy's day hat!!
Always said you need a cheese factory. Are you looking at your feeding regime? Like johnno and the sisters or this is part of your paddock grazing system? Great video, very interesting.
Really interesting and great parlour set up. I have a question (bearing in mind that it's nearly 20 years since I last milked a cow), when we put in a new parlour in the early 2000's, nearly everyone we spoke to said we needed to be aware of stray voltage (static electricity from the cows which makes them jittery) and ensure all the metal work was welded to the concrete rebar to ensure lots of earth points. How does that work if the parlour is bolted to the concrete? We definitely noticed the difference of doing that with much calmer cows and not nearly as much slurry!
@@TomPembertonFarmLife We call it protective equalization. This means that all cubicles feed front and so on are connected to a main ground, which in turn is connected to the reinforcement under the concrete. There may be low electrical voltages between water pipes and the rest of stuff that cows comes close to
The science involved in farming never ceases to surprise.
My grandad recently died and your face expression on the thumbnail looked exetly like him thank you for bring back so many happy memories. Also great video
never thought I'd see the day Johno got to feature in a TP video 👍
That was absolutely fascinating and I really appreciated the "professional banter" when discussing the farm and challenges.
Really great interview 👍
Absolutely--agreed, & THANKS! It's all wonderful!❤
Your content just keeps getting better an better. Can’t believe how far we have come from bail halter stool and galvanised bucket.
Thanks Bruce ☺️
Tom, an idea, in places with echo, maybe the parlour; hang some sound damping mats. It greatly improves comfort.
Looking after your stock reaps rewards, any four legged animal deserves kindness and consideration.
Interesting even for this non-farmer. I like knowing how and where our food comes from.
The farming process sure has changed a lot.
You haven't seen where your 'food' comes from....they won't be supplying aldi and Lidl 😂😂
19:48 Attenn-Hutt!!! Love it, the way all milkers come up together!
Just got back from a visit to The farm shop, best steak burgers I’ve ever had! Milkshakes are amazing and a little bonus was meeting the Ginger Guy! Well worth the 2 hour round trip.
I like it when you show other people's farms
We've got an alarm system, plays sounds of kestrels hawks and falcons. 😅 Goes from dawn to dusk
Very informative video Tom. Wonderful idea to look at other setups as you can adjust their problems without the expense to you, making your job easier.
Really like the green parlour, it’s meant to have a calming feel 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Green is the GEA color scheme.
Thanks for allowing us to share this journey with you Tom.

Beautiful parlor!!! I would love to see your girls' production numbers before and after all of the improvements you have made over the past few years.
We've built a new parlor 22 years ago,and put the pulsators and detacher sensors in the basement, little more money bud save a lot on maintenace!
Always good toget other farmers ideas you might not use everything you see but get ideas from all the others that will work for you
Great video, Tom. I found your visit to Lyburn Farm really interesting.

Morning Tom. Exciting times.
So interesting, lots of happy cows plus a happy farmer too.
It's nice too see a family farm doing cheese and a farm shop. In Canada it's hard too get that all set up. Too many regulations
This farm is really a super farm; vegetables milk and yummy cheese ! Wonderful! I guess that this setup is possible because it is located in the South of Britain . Thank you for a lovely tour!😁🇨🇦
Very impressive operation! Thanks to this dairyman for showing us all the latest methods.

Thank you so much for the flickering light warning! I honestly can't express how much that means when you are sensitive to them. 🥰

Brilliant video thks, hard to believe it's been used for 2 years, still looks new
You need to shoot at either 50fps or 25fps to eliminate that flicker! Great video as always, Tom.

Loved this I used to live just down the road from the farm ,love there stinging nettle cheese 🧀
great visit Tom thank you to all involved in showing us a good modern parlour..
Nice and tidy farm and interesting way to feed cows. Could not guess that parlour was around 2 years old
You need to give away the early watch secret
@@acorndogs904 Refer to Zach Johnson
When Tom reaches 1 million subscribers I will reveal the secret 😆
A tidy farm will not be something you'll find there. All the scraping out and driving through muck.

I love those concrete panel walls
You should paint a mural of grassy fields on your parlour wall and play tracks of bird song. Only improvement i can think of.
Thank you for the flashing warning. I can't handle flashing or strobe lights. Nice seeing other farming businesses.
Enjoying your contributions immensely, Tom.

Sorry Jim, was so annoyed at myself when I found it 🤦♂️
Appreciated.
Was glad for the warning too.
Super appreciate the multiple on-screen and verbal warnings!!
Big thanks for excellent vid and the warnings. Late commer to the flicker stimulus migraine. It can totally screw the rest of the day.
