There's a version of this game based on the anime Crayon Shin Chan that I bought my wife for Christmas. She loved the game and it's chill aesthetic, definitely want more of the series to someday be translated for international fans.
After watching Action Button Reviews video on Boku No Natsuyasumi I really got interested in trying it, but the language barrier is obviously an issue. I didn't know this game was a thing, and in English too!, definitely getting this on Steam! Thanks for this video my friend
omg i was wondering if anyone would make a video like this since the game came out! I truly adore this game, I think i’m on Day 18 at the moment, and loving it! There’s so much to do everyday and it never gets boring or stale and i love just running around and exploring! The NPCs are all genuinely interesting as well and have nice dialogue that isn’t just the same every time u talk to them, which seems kinda rare nowadays lol. I cannot recommend it enough!
Something about this game feels so nostalgic to me, even tho I’ve never even played it. Based on the message we can get from it, its probably by design, haha
Simulating ‘the old days’ will probably be crucial to our mental health as society develops technologically 😅 I feel really lucky to have grown up in NH, where our standard is living is high and yet we live right in the middle of nature.
Summer vacation-likes are a genre I do enjoy. Time restraints, curated open worlds, nice movement and chill vibes are things I love so games like this are amazing. "Alba" is short but sweet example sans the time limits.
I am obsessed with this series! These and the Densha De Go franchise are the only imports I own, but there's basically a shelf dedicated to them lmao Now I have to sit here and wonder if Limited Run or Iam8bit are going to release a physical copy of the english version of Nastu-mon(like they did for the shinchan version), or if I should just import yet another one....
I've got the game on PC, and there is no fps slow-down, and better distance draw, so if you can, I'd check out that version! But either way, it's a lovely way to experience a Japanese countryside summer in 1999 Japan! It's so peaceful, and you can take all the time in the world. In addition, if you're learning Japanese at all, it's got some very good basic Japanese! (Though most spoken dialogue doesn't have a pause between lines) And if you've ever been to Japan, it's a pretty good nostalgic feeling.
have being playing for a while and I'm loving it. To be nitpick since you can change the shirt and remove shoes I tought you could buy different clothes but looks like theres not such a possibility. XD
Sorry but I suddenly imagined a giant katamari rolling around in the far distance while you were exploring 😆 ...But seriously, this looks like a nice and soothing slice-of-life adventure
I think the pacing still works really well, because the day is structure by the morning and evening meal, though I can see how the loss of the fixed camera angle would take away some intentionality
@@gnosis_gaming yea I feel like those helped control the amount of “deadspace” between areas. The times when you’re just moving from A to B with nothing else happening. There is generally a lot more of that in 3D open worlds.
@@TheFloodFourm Oh really, I didn't usually feel that way because I was really enjoying how nice the views were, and I'd usually see something in the distance that I'd want to investigate, and it would make me want to run over there.
I don't have a PC. The resolution is actually great, but my switch recording is only 720p. The frame rate is definitely not good, but I didn’t notice too much cause the game isn’t action-oriented.

This game was a surprise for me too. I only learned about it after release
There is a fan translation of boku no natsuyasumi 2 and there is an english release of the shin-chan spinoff.

This made me smile. Gave me similar vibes to the short Level 5 Game on 3ds - attack of the friday monsters, a tokyo tale!

It's funny that the more modern we move as a society the more games come out of just farming and exploring and this brings people more joy

Have you ever read the classic 1950's children's novel Gone-Away Lake? I would love to see Millennium Kitchen do a video game adaptation of that book.
I wonder when this company will add a playable girl to their games, but I guess I'm asking too much
Haha, that seems like it would have been a really easy option to add 😅

Nice job
I’d be so curious to know how the 3D open world makes the pacing feel. Despite the open ended nature, older games in the series feel very deliberate
